Constitutional Rights and Administrative Goals
[WLOs: 1, 2, 3] [CLOs: 2, 4]
Prior to beginning work on this assignment, please review the assigned material in your Stojkovic and Lovell (2019) textbook. Additionally, please read the article Toward a More Constitutional Approach to Solitary Confinement: The Case for Reform (Links to an external site.). As you recall, Week 1 had you prepare an outline to provide a foundation for this week’s assignment. For this assignment, you will develop your outline into a two-to-three-page paper. The goal is to consider constitutional rights of incarcerated persons and administrative objectives for correctional institutions. Additionally, this paper will also have you consider diversity awareness and cultural sensitivity issues in corrections. You will support your work with two scholarly and/or credible resources, in addition to your textbook. You may use scholarly and/or credible resources included in your Week 1 Issues and Constitutional Rights in Corrections assignment. Address each of the elements below:

Constitutional rights and administration

Explain how constitutional rights of incarcerated persons are balanced with the correctional system functions of the jail or prison.
Explain the mandatory rights that prison administrators must provide incarcerated persons, and how those rights are balanced with the security, safety, court requirements, visits, and other functions of the facility.
Examine a U.S. Supreme Court case (you may use your selected case from your Week 1 Issues and Constitutional Rights in Corrections assignment) that balances correctional administrative goals with the constitutional rights of incarcerated persons.

Diversity and cultural sensitivity issues

Explain at least one cultural sensitivity issue and at least one diversity issue in corrections (you may use the cultural sensitivity issue and diversity issue from your Week 1 Issues and Constitutional Rights in Corrections assignment).

Different and equal or different and better

The United States’ President Barack Obama and Congress changed the health care system in America with the enactment of the “Affordable Care Act” of 2010. The Act went under much scrutiny and was deemed constitutional for the most part by the Supreme Court. One of the areas of contention surrounding this bill was the perceived impact this bill would have on a democratic market-driven society. Some argue the bill has not gone far enough and needs to be more universal in its coverage and reach. Such groups postulate that other nations have better health care system models that should have been adopted.
Write a ten page paper in which you:

Select a country that has universal health care system provided by that country and provide some background information on this country.
Compare the common features of that health care model to the health care system of the U.S.
Compare the differences between the two (2) systems and identify the main contributing factor for the difference.
Evaluate the effect of this system on the GDP of the foreign nation.
Speculate how the system impacts the patient-physician relationship.
Assess how the physician labor supply is impacted by the system and speculate on the impact of this on the physician supply over the next two (2) decades.
Use at least five (5) quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

Compare and contrast the U.S. health care system with the health care system of other countries.
Use technology and information resources to research issues in health economics.
Write clearly and concisely about health economics using proper writing mechanics.

PL 201 Interviewing the Student About His Teacher Paper

Introduction to PhilosophyThe Sophia Times has asked you to interview Plato, the best known student of Socrates, about the life and death in 399 B.C.E. of one of the greatest Athenian philosophers. You need to prepare at least ten (10) questions to ask Plato during this interview. What you want to learn from Plato (since he has written about these things in his Dialogues) is information about Socrates that will help the readers of The Sophia Times learn more about this great teacher. Your readers want to understand what sort of things were important to Socrates, how he lived his life, what he was trying to teach the citizens of Athens, what sort of method he used to try to show people what they needed to know or learn, why he refused to quit teaching philosophy when doing so would save his life, why ignorance is the beginning of wisdom, how individual people could become their own philosophers, and so forth. So, you need well-developed and thoughtful questions for the interview which will prompt Plato into providing you with this information from the textbook. By the way, Socrates had a much better sense of humor than Plato did.• First, come up with at least ten (10) questions that you want to ask when you “interview” Plato. Plato’s “answers” to the interview questions should come from only the textbook, and no other sources should be used.• Next, write the “article” for The Sophia Times, which includes both the questions and the answers from the “interview.”• Make sure that Plato’s “answers” make it clear to your readers how important the life, teachings, and death of Socrates were both to his own students in Athens and to people studying philosophy today.Your “interview” should be “copy-ready” when it is submitted, which means that it follows standard American grammar rules, adheres to APA formatting and documentation, and is relatively free of misspelled words and other typographical errors.Since this will be a “feature story” for the newspaper, your editor said that it needs to be no less than 600 words and no more than 900 words.

One-Day Statistical Thinking Discussion

1) DISCUSSION QUESTIONH.G. Wells once said, “Statistical thinking will one day be as necessary for efficient citizenship as the ability to read and write!” Take a position on whether you agree or disagree with this statement, and provide a rationale for your response.2) PEER REVIEW #1 (TAMMY)In my opinion I think that statistical thinking will one day be as important as reading and writing because they both deal with society. Statistical thinking is known as the ability to align one’s thoughts with different functional areas. The ability to read and write is just as important because it relates to how we communicate with one another. Writing communicates clarity and reading is the ability to understand the material in front of you. I must say that I agree that statistical thinking is as important as reading and writing.3)PEER REVIEW #2 (TINA)Hello Everyone, I think that statistical thinking is very important in our society today. We have a lot of data that back up what we think to be true today. We do a lot of polls and gathering of opinions that prove what we believe to be true. I am interested in seeing what you all think about statistical thinking. Enjoy your day everyone! Tina

Scaffolding and imitation | English homework help

This week’s assignment is going to focus on imitation and understanding writing voice. This will be done in three parts. The first part of this assignment will be to complete the scaffolding exercise outlined in the textbook (p. 56). You will select a poem (this can be of your choosing or one of the poems in the book) and scaffold it in a similar fashion to the scaffold in the text (Note: Poem must be at least 15 lines long) using your own word choices.
The second part of this assignment will be to work on imitating the voice of prose. Select either Scarpa’s “I Go Back to Berryman’s” (p. 65) or Painter’s “The New Year” (p .69) and reread it. Then, using that piece as a template, attempt to write your own story while trying to capture the voice of the author. Think about the choices that the author is making while you do this (you should do this for about 10-15 minutes, but at least make sure it is a page long).
The third part of this assignment will be to provide a reflection for the two first parts. Think about the two different exercises. What did you learn? How did it feel to try and capture the different voices of these writers? Why do you feel the authors made the choices that they did? What prompted you to make the choices that you’ve done here? Were you surprised by anything? What have you learned about your own voice? What authors have inspired you and whose voices you’d like to imitate?
