create an autonomous car seat that can properly install itself and/or pass any installation inspection
Project Overview (1‐3 slides) ● More than 50% of car seats are improperly installed ● Child car seats are very effective at reducing the risk of injury or death to your child, but only if they are installed properly. A properly installed car seat is 71% effective at reducing injury and death according to the Safety Council of Palm Beach County. ● My goal is to give parents peace of mind by creating an autonomous car seat that can properly install itself and/or pass any installation inspection ● Potential resources: ○ Car Seat Statistics ○ Installation Mistakes most parents makes ○ Current car seats with similar features ○ Installation Manuals Background (7‐8 slides) • Include at least one illustration (photo, sketch, etc.) to orient the audience to the project domain. • Demonstrate that you are beginning to understand the problem domain and the problem posed, and include discussion of: o the reason for a new or changed product/process o the essential operation of your product/process o existing/competing products/processes that satisfy the same needs of the related industry o products/processes that accomplish similar but possibly different results (likely in other industries) and associated technologies and patents. According to Safe Kids Worldwide, “More than 2,600 children under 13 are involved in a car crash daily. That’s one child every 33 seconds. While most families put kids in car seats, the latest research from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) shows 59 percent of car seats are not installed correctly” (SafeKids, 2022). And according to the Canadian Pediatric Society, as many as 80 to 90 percent of car seats are used incorrectly.
