Select a UK or Irish quoted company (Excluding Diageo) and prepare a report addressing the following areas: Section A An introduction to the company and the industry. This should include background information and an analysis of the environment in which the company operates. 20 marks Section B Use the information available from these financial statements to calculate and report on ratio analysis. The report should include the following: 1. Ten ratios chosen to cover the following areas: • Efficiency • Liquidity • Profitability • Investment Ratios • Financing Ratios Each ratio should be calculated for the chosen company for 2 years. The formula for each ratio and the detailed working should be given • This part of the report to be in an appendix 20 marks 2. A commentary on the rationale behind each ratio and the factors causing changes from year 1 to year 2. • Final group (consolidated) audited accounts should be used (usually available to download from the investor section of the company website.) • A copy of the statements used (income statement and statement of financial position only) for the calculation of ratios must be attached in the appendix 60 marks
