My Learning Journal Assignment Instructions (#1)
Overview
Learning journals serve two purposes: to help the student evaluate their own understanding of the learning process, and to assist the instructor to evaluate where the student lies in their knowledge or areas yet lacking. Students post more than just feelings or opinions here. It is designed as an evaluative exercise as well as a reflective one, which is how it differs from the Memo to Myself assignments which is purely reflective.

Instructions

You will respond to a prompt for each journal and will complete a reflective journal based upon it of at least several paragraphs each. Complete journal entries and attach as a Word document.

My Learning Journal: Review of Literature Prompt

Up to this point, you have been exposed to writing a Statement of the Problem based upon a viable topic. In addition, you have read the DMIN Thesis Handbook. Now you are building your argument based upon reviewing what the literature says about that topic and problem. For this first Journal, reflect upon why a deep review of existing literature is so vital to the first stages of your research, and how your understanding of this portion of the thesis project may alter your current thinking about the problem and topic.

Problem Presented

Post-COVID-19 life remains a challenge to many. The problem is that the Indian Orthodox church must now implement effective strategies to continue serving while observing Coronavirus preventative precautions.

Purpose Statement
The purpose of this DMIN action is to identify the pandemic’s impact on the church and defend the Christian faith while strengthening the church.

Thesis Statement
If a vibrant community is established on a solid foundation of faith and commitment, then the church will be effective in accomplishing its mission.
