The profile should tell your ancestor’s story of what their life was like before they immigrated, how they immigrated to the United States of America, and what their life was like when they arrived. To create this profile, draw upon a variety of sources, including family oral history, the databases available at CSU or your local library, and the National Archives’ “Resources for Genealogists” page.Alternative activity: Occasionally, students are unable to locate an ancestor who immigrated to the U.S. Similarly, sometimes students are uncomfortable discussing their family’s immigration story. If this is you, please conduct this activity by creating a profile of an immigrant to the U.S. who has greatly influenced your life and worldview.Prepare and present an appropriately three-minute PowerPoint presentation. In your presentation, do the following:Outline three-to-five ethical standards that you believe journalists should adhere to when reporting on immigration-related topics. Our course textbook provides a list of some of these ethical standards; try to go beyond this list and present your own ethical beliefs.For each ethical standard, explain why you believe the standard is important. For example, how might your fault lines and personal family immigration story influence your convictions? How might the standards for professional practice in your desired career field influence your beliefs?
