1.There are a variety of ways a teacher can effectively embrace the cultural differences of their students within their classroom. The first way is very simple, you can have diverse students and cultures represented in the arts and posters you have displayed in your classroom. You can also make sure that your library is full of diverse books by a variety of authors that have similar backgrounds and experiences as the demographic of students you are supporting in your classroom. It is also important to ensure that the curriculum you are using is culturally responsive, for instance, does it meet the variety of needs in your school or classroom? Does the curriculum provide scaffolding opportunities or different supports for ELD students? If these aren’t easily answered it may be important to reevaluate the curriculum that is being offered to your students. I personally don’t believe that this has or should have any affect of the Christian Worldview, if anything this fully aligns with the worldview. Being respectful and aware of the needs and supports of others, should be exactly your goal as a Christian, and these are simple ways to meet that goal within your classroom.
2. There are many different ways for a teacher to embrace cultural differences in their class. One way is, to get to know your students. Every student is unique and comes from different backgrounds. By getting to know your students it allows teachers to learn their strengths and learn what makes a student feel safe inside of the classroom. “When you know your students and understand their strengths and weaknesses, you’re better equipped to help build a safe and secure learning environment, where all of them can thrive.” (Kampen, 2020) Another way for a teacher to embrace cultural differences is, by connecting with families and communities. It is important to express your goals for diversity with the families in your classroom. This allows families time to ask questions and share any concerns they may have. One way teachers can embrace various worldviews in their class is, including diverse learning and teaching materials. It is important to expose students to materials that represent many different viewpoints. “Your materials should include different nationalities, races, languages, abilities, socio-economic backgrounds and current affairs.” (Aaron, 2020)
Teachers can incorporate Christian worldview as they align with their school and community. Teachers can incorporate these views into lessons and different forms of Christian service opportunities.
