develop a community-based work to support preventive interventions aiming to decrease the number of pregnancies and abortions.

The demographic targets of this project are:

To spread awareness on emergency contraception amongst young girls and woman aged 16 to 24.

To provide the service to girls and woman from any ethnicity.

To provide the service to 480 girl and young woman in a year.

To focus in the area with high incidence of unintended pregnancies, abortions, and repeated abortions.

To prioritise people from unprivileged and vulnerable backgrounds.

Service users perspective in regards to EC are:

There is a lack of awareness on the most effective emergency contraception methods and where to obtain (EC).

Sexual health services and professionals not informing young girls and woman correctly about the full range of contraceptives,

including emergency contraception and which one is more effective (RCOG, 2017).

Some community pharmacies charging up to £35 for emergency contraception when it should be provided free of charge.

However, most women end up buying (EC) from pharmacies (RCOG, 2017).

The need of more information about emergency contraception delivered face-to-face using the spoken method and advertised

through written materials, as most information available are either online or through telephone.

Feeling of fear, judgment and embarrassment when looking for information or services on emergency contraception.

The goals of this proposal are:

To implement an alternative community-based service.

To provide a youth friendly service.

To promote advertising of the project in the local newspaper and in the radio.

To support public health system and NHS by maximizing services and saving costs.

To provide safe, effective and evidence-based information through an integrated care model.

To develop a community-based work to support preventive interventions aiming to decrease the number of pregnancies and

abortions.
