Summative Assessment 2: SDQ018 (PIP) Educational Research Project
6000 words (equivalent – written assignment and presentation)

This research project, which will be completed towards the end of the PGCE, aims to give trainees the opportunity to explore an educational issue covered within the Professionalism and Inclusive Practice (PIP) module in relation to Children’s Rights. The module and assignment aims are to support trainees to:
- Critically engage with the debate about teacher professionalism in the context of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
- Understand how teachers can use / undertake research to critically engage with complex educational issues.
We are looking for evidence of your ability to:
- Understand the key principles in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and how these relate to teaching and learning.
- Demonstrate a critical understanding of the challenges and opportunities in overcoming barriers to progress in schools.
- Critically analyse educational research and wider literature in relation to the themes covered in this module and the area you wish to explore
