Assignment 2: lasaconflict management report

The workplace can be an especially stressful environment. Personal conflicts between coworkers, fear of layoffs, and heavy workloads can be causes of negative stress. This stress can be carried to our homes and after-work activities, impacting personal health. Allowing these stressors to build and intensify will only further impair the work environment. For this assignment, you are required to review a scenario regarding a woman (Kate) who has experienced negative stress stemming from her work environment. Then, you will compare your own conflict management skills and experiences against Kate’s experiences. Follow the directions below to write an 8–10-page report on conflict management.
Review the following scenario:

Kate has been employed by a well-known manufacturing company for 12 years. She is the only female on her line and the fastest worker. She has been promoted several times through mergers and acquisitions, but has always been looked over for a senior management position. Kate believes she is qualified for advancement but thinks her manager has a problem with her personally. To top it off, Kate did not receive a semiannual or annual review, which would have resulted in a raise. Her coworkers (all males) have urged her to go to management and report what she believes to be discriminatory behavior from her immediate manager.

Now, complete the following tasks:

Discuss a situation you have been in where you felt you were passed over for a promotion, made to feel indifferent, or were discriminated against. Compare and contrast your story with Kate’s.
Compare the possible ethical breaches of Kate’s manager against your own manager’s behavior. Utilize scholarly research on leadership theory as justification.
Compare the possible legal breaches of Kate’s manager against your own manager’s behavior. Utilize scholarly research on leadership theory as justification.
Recommend an approach Kate could have used to manage the negative risk both personally and professionally.
Evaluate the advice Kate received from her coworkers.
Referring to the conflict resolution strategies taught in this course, determine which one is best suited to resolve Kate’s conflict. Justify your position.
In the chart below, evaluate your conflict resolution skills from the past five years. Rate yourself on a scale from 1–5, where 1 represents low performing and 5 represents high performing.

Conflict Resolution Approach

Rate Yourself (1–5)

Using false emotions for distracting the conflict

Recognizing the value of the conflict

Encouraging interpersonal criticism

Select one conflict resolution approach in which you ranked the lowest and develop an individual improvement plan for that approach.
Explain how the mediation process could strengthen your conflict resolution and management skills.
Discuss how the arbitration process could strengthen your conflict resolution and management skills.
Implement some portion of your plan. Provide a detailed summary of the changes that occurred in your development as it relates to your ability to handle conflict.

Write an 8–10-page report in Word format. Utilize at least four scholarly sources (in addition to your textbook) to complete your research, referencing them within the text and at the end in a reference list. Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M5_A2.doc.
Make sure you write in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship through accurate representation and attribution of sources; and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

My Goals and Walden University Vision and Mission
In 2011 I graduated from Nursing School.  I knew I wanted work in the Emergency Department.  I had finished my practicum in an ED and was slotted to be hired once I passed my NCLEX.  As life would have it, I wouldn’t be able to take that job until year later.  In the meantime, I toughed it out as a floor nurse, and honed my skills.  I knew that floor nursing was not in my 10-year plan, so I made it a point to get all the experience I could to prepare myself for a career as a nurse. My journey since becoming an RN has been an amazing one.  I have completed Critical Care fellowships, worked beside some of the finest physicians, and now with all my experiences, I need to become a Nurse Practioner.  I am currently working in the Operating Room and have absolutely fallen in love with Orthopedics.  Becoming an Orthopedic Nurse Practioner will allow me to treat patients in clinic as well as assist the surgeon to increase mobility in those requiring surgery.
I found Walden University during a school fair at my current hospital.  I spoke with a representative who, in my opinion, made the choice very easy.  I did research other online programs, but I always came back to Walden University.  The ability for me to attend a program and still be able to work full time was a must.  I felt like this University had my best interest in mind after reading the School of Nursing’s (SON) vision and mission statement.  The mission statement states “Walden University provides a diverse community of career professionals with the opportunity to transform themselves as scholar-practitioners so that they can effect positive social change.”  (Walden University, 2011a) I feel as though Walden University will assist me to be in control my transformation from Registered Nurse to Nurse Practioner.
Incorporation of Social Change
Everyday our society experiences change whether swift or gradual.  I want to promote positive social change by integrating Walden University’s views with my own.  “Positive social change results in the improvement of human and social conditions.” (Walden 2011b, para.1) I want to be part of that change, I want to be part of the improvement, I want to use my knowledge and experience to help improve the way we live together as human beings.  I feel like Walden University will provide me with the tools needed to make this vision a reality.

To complete this assignment, go to this week’s Assignment link in the left navigation.

Executive Summary

To prepare for the examination of financing sources, write a two- to three-page (not including the title and reference pages) Executive Summary for a Business Plan. This process involves the describing the market, describing your capital needs as well as defining and describing your business. This plan should focus on the entrepreneurial idea you identified in BUS 604 (if you have not completed BUS604, please contact your instructor for approval of your entrepreneurial idea). Use the template below to develop your executive summary. You must include a minimum of two scholarly or professional resources to support your summary.

The Executive Summary must include:

Company Background
Here you will provide some information about your company and its primary objective. This information is designed to give your target audience an idea of the services or products that your company provides. This section should be two to three paragraphs.
Describe the background of the company. Be sure to address the following questions: What is the company’s principle objective? Where is the company located? When was it founded?
Describe the uniqueness of idea: Is the idea an opportunity?

Business/Product or Service
Describe your product or service in greater detail. If multiple products or services are offered, describe them in the order of significance. This section should be one to two paragraphs.

Explicitly, what products or services does your organization offer?
What is the order of significance of the products or services?
What is the product or service’s stage (introductory, growth, maturity)?
(Note: If your company is new, it would be introductory; if it’s ongoing but looking to expand, it will be in the growth phase. If your product or service has reached maturity, it indicates market saturation, and you are seeking funds to change or alter your product to remain competitive.)
What are your future plans to further develop your product or service?
Protectability of idea: Is a patent needed?

The Market
Define and describe your market (i.e. athletic apparel, consulting services, business software, and restaurant equipment). You will need to do research and justify to your perspective investors that your product or service is meeting a need that is currently missing in the industry. You need to establish this justification by describing the gaps in the industry and how your product or service closes those gaps. This section should be your largest section because it requires research; three to nine paragraphs.
What is the current size of the market?
How much of the current market size can you capture (i.e. what percent)?
Does your business have current customers or customers that have expressed interest in your product or service? (This is optional but beneficial if there are customers)

Capital Requirements
Discuss your financial requirements and plan in this section. You will need to provide a clear description about required finances and how your company plans on using funds. It’s always best to overestimate by 30% to cover the cost of areas initially missed.
Financial requirements: Are the financial requirements consistent with the business opportunity and targeted market?
Funding: Is the idea worthy of external funding; what external funding source are you considering (bootstrapping, angels, venture capital, bank financing, etc.)? How will you use the money?

Carefully review the Grading Rubric for the criteria that will be used to evaluate your assignment.

Need this asapmass communication paper

My topic is social media/ Facebook and how it has had an effect on interpersonal communication. For a thesis statement, I am thinking something like: This paper will examine the impact of social media/Facebook on interpersonal communication.  Specifically, it will focus on the concept of a friend,  the process of reconnecting with old acquaintances, and the skills necessary to develop interpersonal connections with people in real time.
Points:Start exploring the research, see where it takes you and adjust the thesis/main points as needed.  Be sure to check out Time magazine, since Zuckerberg has been on the cover twice with interesting articles addressing the affect Facebook is having on interpersonal interaction.
Overview: This assignment exposes the student to one specific aspect of mass communication on a deeper level.
Topic: In this paper each student will select a topic that will address one specific area of interest that relates to the course. The topic does not have to be approved by the instructor, but students are encouraged to check in with their instructor to make sure the topic is appropriate.
Stance: The student should write an informative (not persuasive) paper. It is written in 3rd person (referring to the research, studies, the findings, etc. and avoids using the first person: me, my, I, etc).
Thesis Statement: Each paper should have a thesis statement. A sentence that clearly articulates the objective of the research. An example is:
THESIS STATEMENT: This paper will look at the link between violent behavior and playing violent video games.
Style: In this assignment each student will write their paper using APA style. For information on writing an APA style paper please feel free to visit the Owl Purdue website. The paper should have a cover page and References page.
Research: The paper should have the following:

A minimum of 5 different sources
No more than 1 pure website, please note: This doesnt mean that only one online source can be used. For example, one could use CNN, New York Times, etc.. But if the source is solely a website, meaning no other medium, then only one can be used).
1 Peer reviewed source/journal source is required

The paper is assessed on the quality of the sources; unknown, outdated, or controversial sources will be graded negatively.
APA style requirements:

APA style title page
APA style reference page
Proper page format (spacing, indenting, margins, and font)

Students are not expected to know the exact APA style of citing sources. However, in-text citations are required. Failure to cite sources is considered plagiarism and will be dealt with accordingly. In short, it is important to cite exact words (quote) and/or ideas that are not original. Students will not be graded down if their format for citing the sources is not completely accurate.
Length of Paper: The paper should be 5 7 pages, not including the title page or References page. Papers that fall short of the minimum are assessed more critically than papers that may exceed the 5 page limit.
Structure: Try to have a clear beginning, middle and end to the paper. A suggested format to follow is:
Intro: Begin with general comments about the field and/or topic, then begin to narrow the scope until the topic is addressed (reverse pyramid). The thesis typically comes at the end of the introduction.
Body: This section should introduce the research and clearly support the thesis statement.
Conclusion: This section should recap the research and offer closing comments (1 paragraph typically).
Questions: For guidance during the process please consider the following resources:

CSUN Health Insurance Discussion

1. Health insurance provides financial protection in case you have a serious accident or illness. Health care insurance can protect you from high unexpected costs (Marketplace, 2018). It also covers essential health care benefits critical to maintaining your health and treating illness and accidents (Marketplace, 2018).Yes, there are people who choose not to be covered by health insurance. One of the main reasons is affordability. People can not afford to pay monthly premiums, copays, and high deductibles. It is even more expensive if you are carrying your family or a spouse.Health insurance copayment is a fixed amount established by an insurance plan for sharing the cost of certain health services between the insurance plan and the insurance customer. Copays are determined by the health plan (ehealthinsurance, 2017). The amount changes from plan to plan and most of the time the copay goes toward the deductible. The different levels are in reference to the value of the plan. The value determines how much percentage the policy will pay and how much the consumer will pay in out of pocket costs.Marketplace. (2018, November 21). 3 Reasons to Enroll in 2019 Marketplace Coverage. Retrieved from www.healthcare.govehealthinsurance (2017, January 21). Understanding a health insurance copayment.Retrieved from www.ehealthinsurance.com 2. Having a healthy lifestyle and being active are important because it will prevent a person to have illness. It is important that people prevent themselves from being sick because getting help is costly. Having insurance coverage can help people afford getting the help they need for their health without having to pay out of pocket. It will help cover those unexpected, unpredictable and uncontrollable event that may come (Olivero 2016). According to KHN, about 2 percent of uninsured Americans simply did not want health coverage, due to the cost of being too high (Keaver 2009). Many people do not have insurance because they cannot afford it, and some jobs do not offer the benefits. Copays are fixed amount paid by the person who has health insurance coverage to receive services. The copays are determined through the health plans and depending on which tier coverage a person choose. Most health plans offer different levels of coverage, depending on the person’s needs and the premium it will cost. The four levels are: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. The higher the level, the monthly premium will also be higher but it will pay the highest portion of the bill (Cigna 2019).References:1. Metal Plan Types in the Health Insurance Marketplace. (n.d.).
