How does a person think about vaccinations and community protections compared to a health behavior professional? In this discussion, you will wear two hats and compare your thinking while wearing each. You will write your initial post before you do your weekly readings. Pretend that a group of socially minded friends have asked you to create a social marketing campaign to address vaccines (e.g., misinformation vs. lives saved, spurious connections to autism, etc.) and the important role they play in community protection. In your post, include the following:

When you have completed this post, due by the end of Day 2, then devote yourself to your readings, specifically Chapter 8, and to watching the videos Using Social Marketing to Create Change for Good (Links to an external site.) and TEDxPennQuarter 2011 – Bill Smith – Reinventing Social Marketing (Links to an external site.) to begin taking in the information that will let you look at this discussion in a more professional manner. Your ‘health behavior professional’ hat will be worn in your Guided Responses.

Describe how the organization is likely to be affected, the steps the organization is taking (if any) to address those effects, then describe and justify what additional steps you think the organization should consider implementing.

HARVARD BUSINESS SCHOOL CLIMATE CHANGE CHALLENGE

The purpose of this climate change challenge is for you to obtain, firsthand, a closer look and understanding of the implications for business, society, and the world at large, in recognizing this reality especially in the context of sustainability and full consideration of the triple bottom line ESG framework – environment, social and governance. This midterm assessment will succor to formulate and to critically analyze the interdependency of the causes, current impacts, and likely future consequences of climate change – if the world continues to ignore its state of severity. The objective is to articulate and debate about what should be done in the midst of this global environmental crisis; and to explore the implications for the firm/organization and sector in the industry you choose.

Therefore, for a start you would need to:

choose a private company or non-profit organization whose operating model is likely to be significantly affected by climate change’s physical manifestations and/or related regulations, including threats and opportunities associated with mitigation and/or adaptation.

Describe how the organization is likely to be affected, the steps the organization is taking (if any) to address those effects, then describe and justify what additional steps you think the organization should consider implementing.

Finally, make recommendations on how they should implement the changes needed.

For an initial analysis of the phenomenon, read the attached article of Henderson et. al. (2017) about the Climate Change in 2020: Implications for Business, and also visit the additional reading materials from previous modules as produced by the international organizations (e.g. UN system), private sector, think tanks, etc. so that you can formulate what these organizations are (or aren’t) doing to address climate change. You will deliver a 5 pages document (including cover and abstract on same page, and last page as references for a total of 7 full pages).

How would you justify the use of a database?

A friend of yours is running his business on what is becoming a more complex linked spreadsheet.  He invited you to assess the situation and propose a solution.  After a thorough study, you have suggested that he start using a database.  How would you justify the use of a database?  He also asked you to explain what he called “buzz words” that are surging the IT field:

In response to your peers, please fill in any gaps or add more detail to help support their answer, emphasizing the critical features and operations of the relational model and why it is the most popular database model.

Explain how the sixth chapter, “On the Beach,” is a characteristic and fitting finale to Langewiesche’s The Outlaw Sea.

How does Chapter 6 make sense as the last chapter of the book?  How is the chapter “characteristic”?  How does the subject matter and, perhaps, how does Langewiesche’s attitude fit here as the completion of this book?  Refer to the material from at least two of the other chapters in a substantial way to ground your argument regarding the final chapter in a comprehensive sense of his entire work.
