Select an advanced nursing role to research.distinguish the role as clinical or non-clinical and how it promotes patient safety.
Role and Setting

In Week 5, the Final Project will synthesize what you have discovered about the different advanced practice roles and scope of practice found in the master of nursing curriculum: NP, nurse educator, nurse informaticist, and nurse administrator. You will review all roles and then examine the specialty for which you were admitted, focusing on the scope of practice, core competencies, certification requirements, and legal aspects of practice for that specific role. In Week 1, you will focus on Role and Setting.

For this assignment, you will research an advanced nursing practice role and summarize your findings in a 3- to 5-page paper (excluding the title page, references and appendices):

The articles must be current (not more than five years old).
Format your paper, citations, and references using correct APA Style.

Writing a 1,000-1,250-word essay describing the differing approaches of nursing leaders and managers to issues in practice.

Writing a 1,000-1,250-word essay describing the differing approaches of nursing leaders and managers to issues in practice. To complete this assignment, do the following:

Select an issue from the following list: nursing shortage and nurse turn-over, nurse staffing ratios, unit closures and restructuring, use of contract employees (i.e., registry and travel nurses), continuous quality improvement and patient satisfaction, and magnet designation.
Compare and contrast how you would expect nursing leaders and managers to approach your selected issue. Support your rationale by using the theories, principles, skills, and roles of the leader versus manager described in your readings.
Identify the approach that best fits your personal and professional philosophy of nursing and explain why the approach is suited to your personal leadership style.
Use at least two references other than your text and those provided in the course.
Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

This assignment uses a grading rubric. Instructors will be using the rubric to grade the assignment; therefore, students should review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the assignment criteria and expectations for successful completion of the assignment.

Outline the nurse’s role in addressing the top three priority patient health issues using assessment, coordination of care and provision of care.

Outline the nurse’s role in addressing the top three priority patient health issues using assessment, coordination of care and provision of care.

Length: 1500 word limit +/- 10%, excluding references
Task: This assessment item has 3 parts:
State the case study that you have chosen including whether the assignment addresses part one or two of the case study.

Identify and briefly describe five or more patient health issues from the case study that nurses will address within their scope of practice. You may include ‘risk for’ or ‘potential for’ health issues.
Select the three highest priority patient health issues from the ones that have been described. Provide a brief rationale explaining why these patient health issues should be given priority over the other patient health issues that have been described.
2. Rank the three patient health issues that were selected in part 1 in order of priority. Provide a rationale for the order of the rankings. The rationale must be supported with current literature.

3. Outline the nurse’s role in addressing the top three priority patient health issues using assessment, coordination of care and provision of care. Relate the discussion to regulatory frameworks of nursing and health department policies e.g. NMBA competency standards, NSW health policy, NSQHA standards etc.

Students need to demonstrate their ability to identify and prioritise patient health issues that nurses can address within their scope of practice, and rationalise the order of priority. This will enable students to articulate decisions they will need to make in clinical practice. In addition, students will be able to demonstrate their ability to write clearly and succinctly to reflect their understanding.
Accurate referencing using the ‘Harvard ’ style is expected – poor referencing will result in loss of marks.
Marks may be deducted if the assessment is not within the word limit.
