Why is this effort necessary?  Briefly explain and support using APA  style citations.

Organizations  are struggling to reduce and right-size their information footprint,  using data governance techniques like data cleansing and de-duplication.  Why is this effort necessary?  Briefly explain and support using APA  style citations. Remember to appropriately respond to two other learners  for full credit.

Please make your initial post and two response posts substantive. A substantive post will do at least two of the following:

  • Ask an interesting, thoughtful question pertaining to the topic
  • Answer a question (in detail) posted by another student or the instructor
  • Provide extensive additional information on the topic
  • Explain, define, or analyze the topic in detail
  • Share an applicable personal experience
  • Provide  an outside source (for example, an article from the UC Library) that  applies to the topic, along with additional information about the topic  or the source (please cite properly in APA)
  • Make an argument concerning the topic

At  least one scholarly source should be used in the initial discussion  thread. Be sure to use information from your readings and other sources  from the UC Library. Use proper citations and references in your post.

Is there a theoretical model or framework discussed?

During this session, we looked at several topics on Strategic IT planning and strategy. We examined researchers, models, and issues in the area, and as you get closer to starting your own dissertation, you will need to choose a topic in your first dissertation class DSRT-736, so it is essential to start preparing.

This week, let us take a look at some topics to consider, and by the end of the week, we could have several ideas for dissertation topics. Since you have already examined several research articles, another way would be to examine previous dissertations in these areas. Visit the University library, go to the Dissertation Database, and locate an interesting topic on IT Strategy, or examine a model presented this term. Here are some pointers that will help critically evaluate some viable topics.
• Is the topic attainable for a first-time dissertation student?
• Is the problem rooted in the literature?
• Is the research empirical, i.e., is there a survey, is there an interview guide, has the data been analyzed via some statistical tool?
• Is there a theoretical model or framework discussed?

Discuss the topic, the problem the model has been used in the research, and any present findings.

Do not read the entire dissertation, as the abstract and chapter one introduction should give a clear understanding of the research.

Explain the differences between a change in supply and a change in quantity supplied.

1. Explain the differences between a change in supply and a change in quantity supplied. (2 pts)

2. Indicate whether each of the following situations would shift the supply curve to the left, to the

right, or not at all. (3 pts) a. An increase in price of inputs b. An increase in the number of firms in the market c. An increase in the price of substitutes in production d. A decrease in the current price of the product e. A decrease in productivity f. A decrease in the expected future price of the product

3. If there is excess demand in a perfectly competitive market, does the government need to

intervene to restore the equilibrium price and quantity? Why or why not? (2 pts)

4. Suppose the equilibrium price and quantity of bicycles is determined at $40 and 200 units, respectively. For some reason, the market price of the bicycles initially increases to $60 and then decreases to $20. How will these deviations from the equilibrium price be corrected in a perfectly competitive market? Explain with the help of suitable diagrams. (3 pts)

5. In each of the following situations, graphically show and explain what will happen to the

equilibrium price and the equilibrium quantity for a particular product, which is an inferior good. (5 pts)

a. The population decreases and productivity increases b. Income increases and the price of inputs increase c. The number of firms in the market decreases and income decreases d. Consumer preference decreases and the expected future price increases e. The price of a substitute in consumption increases and the price of a substitute in production

increases

6. Using graphs, explain how the equilibrium price and quantity of MP3 will change when: (5 pts) a. The demand curve for MP3 players shifts to the left and the supply curve for MP3 players

shift to the right. b. The demand curve for MP3 players shifts to the right and the supply curve for MP3 players

shift to the left, but the supply curve shifts more than the demand curve. c. The demand curve for MP3 players shifts to the right and the supply curve for MP3 players

shift to the left, but the supply curve shifts less than the demand curve. d. Both the demand curve and the supply curve for MP3 players shift to the left but the

demand curve shifts more than the supply curve. e. Both the demand curve and the supply curve for MP3 players shift to the right but the

supply curve shifts more than the demand curve.

Discussion Expectations:

The  minimum requirements for class discussions are to respond directly to  the discussion prompt and to respond to at least two other posts, by  other students or the instructor, by the end of the week. The discussion  will close on the due date and will NOT be reopened for a late  submission.

  • This  should be a substantive response (between 75 -150 words minimum) to the  topic(s) in your own words, referencing (using APA format) what you  have discovered in your required reading and other learning activities.
  • You  may use resources in addition to your textbook that supports your  post(s); however, you must mention the source(s) that you used in your  post(s) using APA format in-text citations and reference lists. You can  review APA formatting here
how would you define qualitative data versus quantitative data?

Class, just to clarify substantive posts. The minimum word count should be no less than about 75 words so about 4 sentences at least. Post 1:

Class, how would you define qualitative data versus quantitative data? Please reply for substantive credit.

Post 2:

Can anyone define the difference for me between an independent variable and dependent variable? Please reply for substantive credit.

What were the criticisms leveled against the company?

Putting Cash to WorkLocate and post a recent news story from The Wall Street Journal or other reputable source about a publicly-traded company that has been criticized for its cash management practices and/or the amount of debt it is carrying.

  • What were the criticisms leveled against the company? Was it accused of being too  conservative and hoarding too much cash, or of taking unnecessary risks such as being too highly leveraged?
  • How did the CFO or CEO address this criticism?
  • How has the stock performance been impacted by these cash management practices?
  • Present three recommendations to management to address these criticisms. For example, how the company can improve cash or capital generation in the case of not having enough cash, or how the company can make better use of its cash through capital actions, in the case of cash hoarding.
Determine If The Contracts With The Businesses Will Be Governed By Common Law Or The Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), And Explain Why.

You are the manager of Acme Fireworks, a fireworks retailer who sells fireworks, puts on ground display fireworks, and large aerial display fireworks. The company started in the owner’s garage two years ago and now has 15 employees that you manage. The company started as a sole proprietorship, and the owner has never changed the entity. The owner has informed you that the company has received inquiries from several large businesses wondering if the company could create several fireworks displays on a regular basis. The owner told the inquirers that the company could fill such display orders, and a price per display was agreed upon. It was discussed that most of the cost for a fireworks display is for skilled labor, insurance, and the actual service of setting off the fireworks. No other details were discussed. The owner is anticipating that new employees will need to be hired, but he is worried that if the large orders for fireworks displays do not continue, the company will not have the funds to pay the new employees. The owner is now considering changing the business entity, but he does not know what entity to form or how to form it. The owner has asked you to do the following: Determine if the contracts with the businesses will be governed by common law or the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), and explain why. Analyze whether the owner formed a contract with the businesses and apply the five essential elements of an enforceable contract. Explain the potential personal liability to Acme Fireworks if a spectator is injured by a stray firework from a fireworks display. Discuss the different employment types and relationships relevant to agency law, and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of each type specific to Acme Fireworks. Explain why Acme Fireworks should not operate as a sole proprietorship. Recommend a new business entity, and provide the rationale to support your recommendation. For each task, be sure to analyze the relevant law, apply the facts to the law, and make a conclusion. The paper Must be 8 to 10 double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Writing Center (Links to an external site.). Must include a separate title page with the following: Title of paper Course name and number Instructor’s name Date submitted Must begin with an introductory paragraph that has a succinct thesis statement. Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought. That is, describe what your response is to the content, either positive or negative, and defend your position. If multiple options, alternatives, and/or positions are present and are being rejected, you must also defend the reasons for rejecting an option. Must end with a conclusion that reaffirms your thesis. Must include at least five scholarly sources, two of which must be from the University of Arizona Global Campus Library and the course text. Must document all sources in APA style as outlined in the Writing Center. Must include a separate references page that is formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Writing Center Reference for the course text is Rogers, S. (2012). Essentials of business law.
