MKTG 350 USC What Are Ethical Theories Discussion Questions

Amber GanttPart 1: What are ethical theories? What is the Ethical decision-making framework? The Ethical decision-making framework is a useful method for exploring ethical dilemmas and identifying ethical courses of action. The framework for Ethical Decision making is composed of five steps which are: recognizing the ethical issue, getting the facts, evaluating alternative actions, making a decision and testing it, and acting and reflecting on the outcome. This method is very effective when making decisions because it allows you to break down the issue from the very beginning to the end. It also allows you to lay out/ brainstorm your options to solve the ethical issue at hand, and pick the most ethical one. In my opinion, it is the most thorough and effective method to making ethical decisions. Which theory do you generally use in making ethical decisions and why? When making ethical decisions, I have never purposely used a specific theory, I just picked what I thought was the most ethical out of the choices I had to choose from simply because I didn’t know or have knowledge of ethical decision-making theories. Part 2A 1. Are there some rights that come into conflict in this context? If so, what are they? What is the appropriate balance to strike between them? Why?2. Do efforts like the social media monitoring serve the common good? Why, or why not? 3. Does the fact that the social media posts being analyzed are public impact your analysis of the use of the monitoring technology? If so, in what way(s)?4. Should universities not just notify students but also ask them for their input before implementing monitoring of student social media accounts? Why or why not?Part 2B Was Facebook acting ethically in enabling the French flag overlay for its users? Why, or why not? What, if anything, might Facebook do differently to achieve more ethical results in similar circumstances? Were users who took advantage of the feature acting ethically? Why, or why not?

SWOT analysis for a resume

1. This assignment provides you with an opportunity to complete three major items: a cover letter, a resume, and a professional strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis. The cover letter should be a three-paragraph memo that has been tailored to a specific job that interests you. The resume should adhere to the steps outlined in Chapter 14 (see page 206). The details within the resume must be current with all relevant and up-to-date information. The SWOT analysis should address your professional strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Bullet points are acceptable for the resume and SWOT analysis; however, they must be detailed. Again, the cover letter must include three paragraphs. Also, the resume must be at least one page, and the SWOT analysis must thoroughly address each of the four parts of the analysis. Be sure to have the major items in the proper sequence: first, the cover letter; then, the resume; and finally, the SWOT analysis. Format each major item as you wish; however, be sure the details are professional and legible. Save all three within one word-processing document (e.g., Word) before submitting the file in Blackboard for grading. 2. This question involves analyzing the advantages of an organization that offers quality services that are related to human resources. Specifically, think about two major areas of a performance evaluation: (a) quality and (b) remaining positive throughout. Use your critical-thinking skills to describe some techniques that you could apply toward quality and positive service while conducting a performance evaluation for an employee. Your response must be at least 200 words in length.3. This question provides you with an opportunity to analyze the advantages of an organization that offers quality customer service. First, describe what it means to you to provide quality customer service for both internal customers and also external customers. Second, use your critical-thinking skills to explain how quality customer service can impact an organization’s entire culture. Your response must be at least 200 words in length.

PSYCH 100 George Mason University Genie Case Analysis

On p. 8 of the pdf (or 224 of the actual chapter) of your reading on Thinking, Language, and Intelligence, there is a brief description of the case of Genie. This was a disturbing case, but an important one in the field of psychology. The Case of Genie In the fall of 1970, a social worker in the Los Angeles area found a 13-year-old girl who was being raised in extremely neglectful and abusive conditions. The girl, who came to be known as Genie, had lived most of her life tied to a potty chair or confined to a crib in a small room that was kept closed with the curtains drawn. For a little over a decade, Genie had virtually no social interaction and no access to the outside world. As a result of these conditions, Genie was unable to stand up, chew solid food, or speak (Fromkin, Krashen, Curtiss, Rigler, & Rigler, 1974; Rymer, 1993). The police took Genie into protective custody. Genie’s abilities improved dramatically following her removal from her abusive environment, and early on, it appeared she was acquiring language—much later than would be predicted by critical period hypotheses that had been posited at the time (Fromkin et al., 1974). Genie managed to amass an impressive vocabulary in a relatively short amount of time. However, she never developed a mastery of the grammatical aspects of language (Curtiss, 1981). Perhaps being deprived of the opportunity to learn language during a critical period impeded Genie’s ability to fully acquire and use language. Please read more about the case here: As horrific a case as Genie’s story is, it provides information that can be used to better understand the human condition. Please post your thoughts on the Group Discussion Board for Module 3 Sub-Unit B about how the case of Genie highlights the benefits of a “case study” research design. In addition, please include your thoughts of whether using information from a case like this to further our knowledge fits within the bounds of ethical research.

Respond back to post

Read and respond to at least two of your classmates’ discussion posts. Be constructive and professional with your thoughts, feedback, or suggestions. 125 words each post  1.Laws and regulations are important in healthcare because they ensure patients receive safe care. Laws and regulations ensure that all providers are held to the same standards and one provider can’t legally get away with something another provider can’t get away with. They help form standardization in treatment and care. Laws and Regulations also ensure that insurance companies are all held to the same standards. Reimbursement rules are impacted by laws and regulations. EMTALA is a great example of this. EMTALA acknowledges that patients have a right to receive care in certain emergent situations regardless of an ability to pay. Unfortunately many of the laws and regulations we have today that are directly related to patient care came as a result of an unsatisfactory event at some point. Things are put in place to ensure patients are receiving the appropriate care.I believe that patient safety has one of the biggest impact on laws and regulations. Healthcare providers take an oath to provide care to patients with safety as a priority. Patients who voice their concerns or dissatisfactions to the right governing bodies tend to get results.2.The purpose of laws and regulations in the health care industry is important because it provides standardization of care across the board. For every law and regulation, whether it be new or updated, they must be set into place and given to the employees to ensure the quality of care is not being compromised. Keeping up with the new and updated laws and regulations can be difficult, just as ensuring employers are effectively training all employees on the new and updated laws and regulations. Heath care is a dangerous rewarding field, but without the laws and regulations health care would be even more dangerous than it is today. When a patient goes to the doctor, they are trusting that doctor and his or her staff with their life. If they go in for a simple procedure and something goes wrong, they trust that the medical teams is properly trained to handle any issues that arrive. Without these rules and regulations doctors would be able to play God in a sense and making them pay for their actions would be very difficult with the laws and regulations set into place for the protection of the patients as well as the medical team and health care organization.

No Tech Solution Discussion

Reply to discussion post:Managing infrastructure can be a difficult task to accomplish, seeing as there are so many routes to go about it by and types of risk can vary so greatly. I talked a bit about the different types of countermeasures in last week’s discussion: high-, low-, and no-tech categories of countermeasures. They all have their different attributes that make them more appropriate and compatible with certain types of risk over other types. Of these, however, a no-tech countermeasure is probably the most appropriate for battling the risk of neglect. One of our readings from this week talks about our country’s electrical infrastructure and its age. In this example, a no-tech countermeasure would be the plans, policy, and guidance in place to address aging infrastructure and the methods for replacing or upgrading it to prevent failure due to age. This would also include addressing the financial needs. The reading estimates that it would cost nearly $5 trillion to replace our electrical infrastructure. Part of an effective countermeasure would be to address how exactly this would be paid for. I know that this would primarily fall in the hands of policymakers, so the time it would take to get something like this approved and signed would also need to be considered in the countermeasure. After that, the time it would take to allocate all the necessary resources (ie building supplies, materials, equipment, construction teams, contractors, etc.), building planning, and actual construction time would all need to be added into the countermeasure plan (or estimated anyway) in order to properly attempt to mitigate this.Age is inevitable, so it must be planned for, as are many other types of risk that are inevitable. Accounting for these things is just another part of managing risk, and that is what can make it so difficult, there is some unpredictability in these types of risk that managing the threat of it is a task in itself. How can you plan for the unknown?

Coming on two classmates discussion on what causes cancer?

In response to your peers, name at least two environmental carcinogens and propose solutions that could help reduce their amounts.Classmate # 1 Henry When we look at these two statements about cancer, “Cancer is a disease of the cell cycle (mitosis)” and “Cancer is a genetic disease.” We really should combine the statements. “Cancer is a genetic disease, that affects our cellular genes, that mainly causing problems with the cell cycle (mitosis).” Cancer is a genetic disease because it is caused by mistake, errors, or mutation in cell genes. The cause very well can be passed down genetically from our parents, they can just easily occur over a lifetime when cells become damaged or through cell division error.           It has become very apparent in recent years that so many of the things in our environment can cause cancer in our bodies. Even the Sun one of the most essential elements of life on our planet can cause cancer from the ultraviolet radiation causing mutation in our cells. One major cause of lung cancer is cigarette smoking. Even for people that have smoked for a long time, quitting almost immediately begins to decrease the risk of cancer and even help to repair damage that has already taken place. Avoiding or at least taking preventative measures to prevent cancer from ultraviolet sunlight exposure are easy, limiting time in the sunlight, wearing dark colors, long sleeves, wide brim hats and most importantly wearing sunscreen with a SPF of at least 15 but 30 is best.Classmate # 2 Laura  In discussing whether cancer is a disease of mitosis or hereditary, the conversation would be correct for both parties.  As a disease of mitosis, cancer cells ignore or override the normal checkpoints preventing cells from over-growing and depleting nutrients.  It only takes one cell to change or mutate from a normal cell to a cancer cell.  Sometimes this change is in the functions of genes that regulate growth causing mass cell divisions (Pourakpour & Ghassemian, 2015).  It also can come from hereditary through genes such as the breast cancer gene (BRCA 1).  These types cancers diagnosis are relatively small in comparisons to all the forms and causes of cancer.  Another hereditary form of cancer comes from a child receiving an altered gene from their parents because of damage to the cells of the egg or sperm that merged during conception.  This is called a “germ-line” mutation as egg and sperm cells are considered germ cells (Weekly Supervised Mitosis Detection In Breast Histopathology Images Using Concentric Loss, 2019).  Germ-line mutations can also be caused by environmental exposure to chemicals, or radiation.  These exposures can be passed through families due to a family living in the same area for multiple generations and therefore exposed to the same environmental factors.  Environment is not the only exacerbating factor for cancer.  Lifestyle and habits are also factors in a cancer diagnosis.  Genetic factors may make a person more susceptible to cancer, but their lifestyle avoids cancer growth.  Staying out of the sun, maintaining a healthy weight and engaging in exercise all reduce cancer risks.  Wearing protective equipment when working in or around carcinogens can also mitigate exposure to cancer causing agents (Koch, 2018).

Longwood University MANG 564-RBSE STEP 4- Create Best Self Portrait

The portrait is meant to be a narrative, aggregated articulation of your personal and reflected best self which you can refer to and revise well into the future. It should synthesize the themes and declarations you identified in Tables 2 and 3 from last week. However, be sure that the themes are authentic to you—not necessarily just things you do well, but that reflect your identity as a human being. You should use excerpts from your stories as evidence to support your declarations.*PLEASE UTILIZE THE EXCERPTS WRITTEN BY MY PEERS, TO INCORPORATE INTO THE ASSIGNMENT. **The Reflected Best Self Exercise™ (RBSE™) is a feedback-seeking exercise that helps individuals identify and understand their unique strengths and talents. In this exercise, you will reach out to significant others who can provide feedback stories about you. You will analyze the stories, develop a portrait of who you are, and create an action plan to understand how you can be your best in the future. For the purposes of this class, the entire RBSE process has been broken out into six separate steps (each with an associated assignment). This exercise will ultimately help you on your journey to becoming a better leader in a few key ways. First, it will help to develop your self-awareness, which is critical to effective leadership. Second, you (through the feedback of others) will identify the areas that you excel at, which you can then capitalize on it in the future. Third, it will allow you to apply the materials that we will talk about this semester to develop ways to enhance your leadership skills. In sum, this exercise offers you a unique opportunity to use your social network as a data source to understand where your strengths and talents lie so you can use them to your advantage as you lead others.***2 page narrative of your best-self portrait. Please double-space your narrative and use 1-inch margins, 12-point, Times New Roman (or similar) font.

1.Part (a): Distinguish between the two types of cost accounting systems.Part (b): May a company use both types of cost accounting systems?Part (c): What type of industry is likely to use a job order cost system? Give some examples and what type of industry is  likely to use a process cost system?  Give some examples.2.Using your own examples, work experience, or observations you might have, please discuss how job order cost information is used in decision-making. What are some possible reasons that actual cost of materials would exceed expected costs for a job? again, please share with your examples.3.Discussion posting instruction: please explain your own rationale of your answer choice (out of the 5 option choices at below), in other words, why did you choose your option choice and plus please explain why then, you did not choose the other 4 options as your choice. Please state your own rationale of not choosing each of those 4 options as “incorrect” to the question. Here is the one multiple-choice question: When using the weighted-average method of process costing, total equivalent units produced for a given period equal: 1. The number of units started and completed during the period plus the number of units in beginning work in process plus the number of units in ending work in process. 2. The number of units in beginning work in process plus the number of units started during the period plus the number of units remaining in ending work in process times the percentage of work necessary to complete the items. 3. The number of units in beginning work in process times the percentage of work necessary to complete the items plus the number of units started and completed during the period plus the number of units started this period and remaining in ending work in process times the percentage of work necessary to complete the items. 4. The number of units transferred out during the period plus the number of units remaining in ending work in process times the percentage of work necessary to complete the items. 5. None of these.
