It describes unfreezing as when you identify change is needed, moving as when a change happens, refreezing as when the balance is established, and you have satisfaction with the results. The cycle may repeat itself over time.There is another theory called Lippett’s seven-phase theory. This theory is based on Lewin’s theory but with seven phases. It is more comparable to the nursing process, there’s not a significant difference between them, but with Lewin’s, there are only three fundamental steps but most often nursing is much more complicated than three levels. It begins with diagnosing the problem by examining all possible concerns and determining who the change will affect, recognizing key management personnel responsible for fixing the problem, collecting data from those affected by the change, and ensuring that those affected by the change will be committed to its success. Then comes evaluating motivation and capability for change by finding resources capacity and organizational structure. You must assess the motivation and resources, experience, stamina, and dedication of the one initiating change. Use progressive change objectives by defining the change process and developing action plans and accompanying strategies. Make sure to explain their role to all involved employees and ensure that expectations are clear. It is important to maintain change by encouraging feedback, enhancing communication, and coordinating the effects of change. Finally, slowly terminate the helping relationship of the person making the change (Mitchell, 2013).Looking back through situations as a postpartum nurse, some deliveries were pretty straightforward and uncomplicated, but then there were deliveries that were complex on multiple levels. These patients are in a fragile condition therefor so are the problems that need addressing. Having only three steps seems like it would be easy to get stuck in the moving phase.My mentor has tried hard to instill change in her unit, but it can be difficult if you are in middle management. These are the messages that we are given by the news, movies, TV shows, and social media on a daily basis for our entire lives.We are given a number of messages that Black people are criminalistic, violent, aggressive, athletic, lazy, unintelligent, drug dealers, gang members and perpetual victims? For instance, when I say “welfare” whom do you picture? Do you picture an Asian man? A white man? Or do we picture Black women with tons of children “mooching” off of the system? Based on your responses, I think we have illustrated that answer already. THAT is what scripting is.We have been taught that Asians are intelligent, hard workers, bad drivers, that they don’t speak English and that they all do martial arts (usually karate).In this country, Latinos are thought to be immigrants (usually undocumented), non-English speakers, good dancers, we expect the women to have a lot of kids, the men to be gang members and/or drug dealers, and we think that of them as very sensual (think “Latin lover”).We have also been given the message that while white people are sometimes perceived as racist, they are also leaders, powerful, intelligent, businesspeople, and successful.We ALL have preconceived notions about what certain groups or people are like. None of us are free from it. By virtue of having spent any significant amount of time in this country, the media, our families and our friends shape how we see people and shape what we expect of them. This is due to scripting. Scripts help reinforce common ideas about race, and most importantly, they are informed by and reinforce stereotypes.Now, this is not to say that we can’t be proven wrong, but we are not talking about the people you have encountered. Next thing you know I have opted into robo call hell.  They have managed to collect my preferences, demographics and contact information from me filling out one inquiry.    The worse thing about this is I decided not to refinance my home and have no way of stopping this harassment.  What’s unethical about this is the fact that I am being wrongly targeted for a service and the robot has no way of knowing I changed my mind. Let’s imagine I buy a tent from Walmart, then Walmart sells that information to a business that sells camping supplies. The camping supply company might send special offers toward camping equipment. This is a great way for businesses to support each other. It may drive us nuts, but honestly it does work. Much like the things that Amazon tries to sell you by saying, other customers who bought this item, also bought these items. It can sometimes serve as a reminder that you may need something that is needed for a specific product to work.
