Leadership Response Discussion

The Discussion Board (DB) is part of the core of online learning. Classroom discussion in an online environment requires the active participation of students and the instructor to create robust interaction and dialogue. Every student is expected to create an original response to the open-ended DB question as well as engage in dialogue by responding to posts created by others throughout the week. At the end of each unit, DB participation will be assessed based on both level of engagement and the quality of the contribution to the discussion. At a minimum, each student will be expected to post an original and thoughtful response to the DB question and contribute to the weekly dialogue by responding to at least two other posts from students. The first contribution must be posted before midnight (Central Time) on Friday of each week. Two additional responses are required after Friday of each week. Students are highly encouraged to engage on the Discussion Board early and often, as that is the primary way the university tracks class attendance and participation. The purpose of the Discussion Board is to allow students to learn through sharing ideas and experiences as they relate to course content and the DB question. Because it is not possible to engage in two-way dialogue after a conversation has ended, no posts to the DB will be accepted after the end of each unit.Assignment DetailsThis assignment has 4 parts:Review the Terminal Course Objectives, accessed by clicking on the “Course Information” tab at the top of your screen, scrolling down to the “Course Objectives” and then selecting View class objectives. How will accomplishing these objectives support your success in management? What risks or challenges might a manager encounter if they have not mastered these objectives? Explain. How are leadership and management similar? Different? What are some examples of ethical challenges that leaders and managers face in today’s global business environment? Are leaders born or made? Defend your position.Apply ethical reasoning skills and ethical theories to business situations.Describe the role of relationship development and management in effective leadership, and use the concepts in improving leadership effectiveness.Discuss the opportunities provided by technology for businesses.Explain the role of individual differences and traits in leadership.

Write a program to generate a series of pseudo random numbers

J. Dichter Random Generator Program CS 501X University of Bridgeport Instructions: You will write a program to generate a series of pseudo random numbers, using a linear feedback shift register method. You will start with an arbitrary number (not zero) x with a representation in n bits. If x = 15 and n = 4, then x = 1111. Then you will select a pair of bits, say bits 0 and 1, take their xor producing a new bit -in this case a 0. The number x will then shift to the right, with the new bit becoming the new high bit -in this case 0111. The process continues in this manner to produce a random set of bits. With four bits, we can only have up to 15 unique transitions before repetitions begin, or 2n -1. With n = 32, the number of random bits has a much greater potential. The numbers actually produced by the shifting cannot be considered random, since all but one of the bits overlap from each succeeding number. However, if we want to produce, say 100 6-bit numbers, then we need to shift the bits into an 6-bit register. We can then save its value in an array of 100 integers. Then we should produce the output which will display the distribution. Random numbers should follow a uniform distribution. Using a 32-bit generator does not guarantee 2n -1 random bits. For good results try using bit combinations 0/4, 0/7, 0/25, 0,26, 0/29. Example: 11001110 – 11100111 – 01110011 – 10111001 – 11011100 – 11101110 – 11110111 – 01111011 – 10111101 – 01011110 – etc Three random 4-bit numbers produced: 11, 13, 4, . Try tapping different bit combinations, as well as the ones I suggested. To verify that the set of numbers you generated are really pseudo random, you will test them using the statistical ? 2 test. You will generate 10,000 numbers in the 0-63 range. Then N=10,000 and r=64. You will then compute ?2 by the formula If ?2 is in the range of r ± 2 r , we conclude that distribution is indeed random. Otherwise it may not be. In your program, you will implement a

2) Assume the following spot and forward rates for the euro ($/euro).
Spot rate: $1.627730 day forward rate: $1.633090 day forward rate: $1.6353120 day forward rate: $1.6387
A) What is the dollar value of one euro in the spot market?B) Suppose you issued a 120-day forward contract to exchange 200,000 euros into Canadian dollars. How many dollars are involved?C) How many euros can you get for one dollar in the spot market?D) What is the 120-day forward premium?
3) The MacHardee Plumbing Company has common stock outstanding. The stock paid a dividend of $2.00 per share last year, but the company expects that earnings and dividends will grow by 25% for the next two years before dropping to a constant 9% growth rate afterward. The required rate of return on similar common stocks is 13%.
What is the per-share value of the companys common stock?
4) Defense Electronics Corporation is considering building an overseas manufacturing facility to produce radar detection systems. As a consultant to DEC, you have the contract to determine the appropriate discount rate for evaluating this project. Current information regarding DEC includes:Debt: 25,000 bonds outstanding, each with a coupon rate of 6.5% paid semi-annually, par value of $1,000, maturity of 20 years, and current value of 96% of par.Common Stock: 400,000 shares outstanding with a current value of $89/share. An annual dividend of $4.74 has just been paid, and dividends are expected to grow by 9% annually into the foreseeable future.Preferred Stock: 35,000 shares of 6.5% stock with a par value of $100/share, and a current value of $99/share.Tax rate: DEC’s combined tax rate is 34%.Other liabilities: DEC has the usual accounts payable and accruals on its balance sheet, but does not regularly utilize any interest-bearing debt other than the bonds described above.Risk Adjustment: Since the new manufacturing facility is to be built overseas, management is suggesting an adjustment factor of +2% to account for the increased riskiness.

Discussion Questions: (Remember: You may use ONE of these or any concept that you find in the chapter. You may start a new topic or respond to the existing one.)

Differential Association Theory (DAT) is a learning theory that was created by Edwin Sutherland. Provide an example of a situation (it can be real life scenario) where DAT can be applied to explain the situation. Create a narrative of the situation using tenets from DAT.
How is Differential Association Theory (DAT) used today in criminal justice? What programs may be a direct or indirect result of implications from DAT?
What is Anomie Theory? Apply the tenets of Anomie Theory to a real-world event that may have previously reached a cessation or may be currently ongoing.
Considering Merton’s Modes of Adaptation, what mode of adaptation do you feel is the most prevalent and the most taxing on the collective society? What should be done to ameliorate this strain?
In the early 20th century many subculture theorists focused on delinquent subcultures in adolescent youth (e.g. juvenile gangs). How would this research manifest itself today in the greater Miami area? Is there a prevalence of youth gangs? If so, what should be done that has not been done already to address these issues?
What are some examples of programs, infrastructure, laws, etc. in Florida that may have their implications derived from Differential Opportunity Theory?
How may some theories from various Subculture Theorists be outdated when applied to contemporary societal conditions in the US? State the theory(s) and explain why they may lack robustness in explaining the current societal state. How could these theories be adjusted to accommodate the more contemporaneous conditions of modern society?
In general, do you think that criminological theories are developed within their societal contexts? Meaning they do not have the same theoretical power in explaining criminality/deviance outside their respective societal context. In other words, could criminological theories have the same theoretical power in other countries in the world? Explain why or why not supported with examples.

Health History – Building a Health History
To prepare:
Review the screening tools found in the Learning Resources and consider how you might use an app or tool to assist in screening. (SEE ATTACHMENT)
Review the media programs related to a vaginal eval, pap test, and breast eval.
Review the health history guide and consider how you would create your own script for building a complete health history.
Provide all the components of a complete gynecologic health history. Include considerations for special populations such as LGBTQ+ individuals. (SEE ATTACHMENT)
What health maintenance guidelines should be included for initial and follow up might be needed for follow-up assessments? (i.e., bone density test, Gardasil vaccine, shingles, etc.)?
What questions would you consider in your patient’s complete health history?
Example, ONLY  What is your patient’s living situation? Do they have stairs? Do they live by themselves? Do they have a working refrigerator?
Develop your own script for building a complete health history and as you create your script, consider the difficult questions you want to include in your script. There is no sample template to provide to you. (Utilize chapter 6 of your Schuiling textbook to provide guidance). You are the one to develop the script. Think of it as you are writing a movie and you need to write the script for the movie. What lines would you provide for the actor to utilize when sitting down with a patient to perform a COMPLETE Medical History which also entails those DIFFICULT GYN questions. You do not need to provide the answers to the questions however, if you find that beneficial, you may do so.
Create: (1- to 2-page reflection)
In addition to your script for building a health history for this assignment, include a separate section called “Reflection” that includes the following:
A brief summary of your experiences in developing and implementing your script during your health history.
Explanations of what you might find difficult when asking these questions. What you found insightful and what would you say or do differently.
Please note: This assignment requires an actual script to be developed – not just a list of topics you would cover. I want to see how you would word the questions and the specific questions you would include in your assessment.
Please be sure to include a reflection that explores your development of that script.

A business opportunity is an apparent way of generating value through unique, novel, or desirable products and services, and even processes that have not been previously exploited. For an opportunity to be viable (enduring), the idea must have the capacity to generate value.Value comes from addressing a challenge or resolving a problem in an innovative way that provides a feasible, viable, and desirable solution. Framing an entrepreneurial challenge begins with engaging in the challenge and using imagination to envision what could be different. What to Do (and How to Do It):Here is the link to the book to access Chapters 3 4One of the videos

This week we are studying GTM (or Go-to-Market) Strategy which is the process of taking a new offering to market. For the Module 6 Discussion Board, you are to look at the newest offering (product, feature, service) that your assigned company has brought to market (please do not go back further than 3 years).
Please analyze the new offering as follows: (Company: Houzz)

Describe the new offering AND post a photo for the class to see and understand the offering

If your offering is a feature or service, try to find an example of the offering in action. As long as we can understand the offering then this is good enough

Analysis of New Offering

Type of new offering

Is the new offering a brand, line or category extension, product iteration, new business / acquisition or something else altogether?

Rogers Five Factors in the Diffusion of Innovation

Relative advantage What was this offering an improvement upon and how did it actually succeed in being an improvement?
Compatibility

How was this offering compatible with offerings that consumers are familiar with?

(If its a product improvement or line extension and stays in the same category, etc then simply describe whether it affects customer habits (i.e. Colgate Tartar Control may involve more deep cleaning and brushing to reduce tartar vs, regular Colgate)
(If its a brand extension like Tide Fabric Spray they are compatible with cleaning rituals but closer in action to Febreze. Remember to reach out if you need help).

Complexity How much more complex is this new offering for consumers to understand?
Trialability

What level of experience do consumers need to truly understand the offering? (i.e. food requires tasting, clothes require trying them on and a 30-60 day return period)
How has the company allowed trial?

Observability

Where the product was successful how was the public able to understand its success? (i.e. reviews, word of mouth, seeing it in public use, social media)

Pricing

What was the pricing at introduction and how do you believe (based on your research) that this pricing was determined?
Were there any special offers of sweeteners to entice adoption?
Describe how the pricing has changed since launch and whether this pricing change has accelerated adoption

Your assessment of the new offerings success

Did this offering succeed and why? (Was it particularly due to a factor mentioned above or something else altogether?)
