Assignment 2: An Effective Training Evaluation Plan
Instructions:
In the online lectures in Module 3 and your textbook readings (“Training and Development”, Leadership”, and “Motivation, Job Satisfaction, and Job Involvement”) you learned about the importance of training your employees.  However, training is only effective when employees can retain the information and incorporate what they learn to improve their job performance.
You have just learned that your company is looking for ways to cut back expenses.  One of the cost cutting measures being considered is to terminate the training department, as the company considers this an expense and they do not believe training is contributing to the profitability of the company.  As the head of the training department it is your job to defend the value of the department.  You realize that well trained employees perform their jobs more efficiently and consequently can contribute to higher productivity and profits for the company. One way to show the value of training is to have tools that will allow a manager to track the performance of an employee both before and after they have received training.

ReportWrite a report that will be shared with senior management on why training is a very important part of the company’s overall financial success.  Discuss the advantages of having well-trained employees.

Evaluation ToolUsing what you have learned about transfer training and the evaluation of training programs create an evaluation tool which can be used to evaluate how effective any given employee training program is in terms of:

Increasing the level of transfer of knowledge (knowledge retention)
Monitoring the effectiveness of the skill performance in the job performance improvement
Include common attributes in your evaluation tool which could be applicable to most employees at the organization such as: employees showing concern for saving the company money or consistently turning in error free work.  Your training tool should contain a minimum of 10 evaluation criteria.

Your training evaluation tool must be included with your report defending the value of the training department.  You know that your report will be shared with senior level managers and eventually to the board of directors.  However, you are uncertain whether or not you will be allowed to present your work at a later time or in a different manner.  Therefore it is important that your report is well written and professional.
Report DetailsThe report should be 5-7 pages in length and include:

Executive Summary highlighting all the factors in the scenario.
Justification of the importance of retaining the training department in the company and explanation of how the training department is important to the overall success of the company.
Training Evaluation Tool to evaluate knowledge retention and job performance improvement (10 criteria minimum).
Explanation of how the evaluation tool will be implemented.
Describe how the evaluation tool will help evaluate the level of transfer of knowledge and skill performance for current training programs as well as, monitor and improve planning for future training effectiveness.
Summary and conclusion of tool’s effectiveness.

Assignment 1: The Sociological Viewpoint Toward Social Problems Presentation (Due Week 2)

Overview
One of the most crucial components to this course concerns addressing social problems in society from a sociological viewpoint as opposed to a strictly policy-oriented, psychological, or criminal justice viewpoint. Although many different viewpoints in social science are valid and have a lot of importance, it is equally important for us to understand how sociology looks at the nature of social problems in society today. This presentation will enable us to explore why certain social problems seem to be regarded as more significant than others. Our job will be in defining the sociological viewpoint, and choosing one social problem that we think is of high importance. We will build upon the topic we choose in this presentation for our second and third assignments.
Instructions
For this assignment, you will put together a presentation. It is suggested that you use Prezi as it is a great way to integrate text, images, and video in a moving, spatially organized format. Go to:  https://prezi.com/ and set up a new account (it is totally free).
Next, go to this page to view instructions on how to create a Prezi:   https://prezi.com/support/
You may also view some example Prezis here:   https://prezi.com/explore/staff-picks/
You may also use PowerPoint or use another program, such as Keynote, YouTube, etc.  Please attach, embed, or provide a link to your presentation to submit it for grading.
Your Presentation must do the following:
1)    Explain how the sociological approach toward social problems differs from other approaches. You must integrate the course text in your answer.
2)    Next, using one social problem that exists in society, explain how the sociological imagination allows us to connect a personal trouble with a societal problem.
3)    What might be one strategy that could help to reduce or eliminate this social problem?
4)    Define two concepts from our text that relate to your chosen social problem and analyze how these concepts help us better understand the social problem you are discussing.
5)    Define two sociological theories/perspectives from our text that relate to your chosen social problem and analyze how these theories help us better understand the social problem you are discussing.

Your presentation should utilize sound critical thought and it should include appropriate APA in-text citations and full APA references at the end.

The structure of the Presentation must include the following:
— TITLE SLIDE/SECTION,
— BODY OF PRESENTATION WITH SUBHEADINGS
— REFERENCE SLIDE/SECTION.

Assignment Details
This is a 3-step project:

Identify a change.
Find 6 articles.
Write an annotated bibliography for each article.

Please read the detailed instructions below carefully.
Step 1: Write 3–4 sentences answering the following questions:

Identify and describe a recent change that occurred in your workplace. It could be a change in the levels of staffing; a change in policy, such as time off or tuition reimbursement; a change in use of equipment or supplies; a change in charting or computerized medical records; and so on.

Describe the change in 3-4 sentences.
1 of the sentences should address the rationale for the change.

Step 2: Begin researching scholarly articles from the library from the past 5 years that are related to the change issue identified in Step 1.

Complete a 6-column table of the references you found, including the following:

Author(s) last name, first initial.
(Year).
Title of article.
Title of Publication,
Volume #(Issue #),
Pages of the article.

A minimum of 6 scholarly references are needed to complete this assignment; you may find more.

EXAMPLEChange Issue: Low Census Staffing PolicyCurrently, when the patient census is low, staff go home based on tenure; the same staff are continually going home, resulting in a lower paycheck for these nurses. The proposed change is to rotate all staff to leave when the census is low, regardless of tenure, so the burden of potentially lower pay is shared among the entire staff and not the same few.
Author Last Name, First, Initial.(Year).Title of Article.Title of Publication,Volume #(Issue #),Pages.

Step 3: This step requires the development of an annotated bibliography for each of the 6 articles listed in Step 2. This step should be 6 paragraphs total (1 for each article that is summarized and analyzed) and approximately 450–700 words in 2–3 double-spaced pages.
Consider the following:

Summarize the main points for each of the 6 references (must be from within the last 5 years) from Step 2, each in its own paragraph.
Use the MEAL method of writing, where each paragraph contains a minimum of 4 sentences:

M = Main point
E = Example and/or Evidence (citation)
A = Analysis—refers to what was significant about the article and how the article was related to the change topic you selected.

Be sure to include at least 1 analysis sentence about each reference in that paragraph.

L = Link or transition to the main topic

Remember to cite each article appropriately (Author(s) Last Name, Year) and include an APA formatted reference page. (See APA 6th edition).

Please click on this APA Style for CTU Students link for help with APA formatting. Use the CTU Writing Style Guide (templates provided)—not the Introductory Writing Style Guide.

Effects on cj system individual project

 Description
Description:
You are the crime analyst in a small to medium city. Your department is still using the pushpin type system of crime mapping. This is a very rudimentary style of mapping. In fact, one may have more than one crime in the same block on one day. The assignment will consist of two parts: a mapping assignment and a paper assignment. The assignments will be submitted as separate documents.
1. Mapping Assignment Portion
Download Weekend Crime Reports. You are to map each crime reported over the weekend in 2 separate Excel tabs. One map is to plot the time reported, and the other will map the specific crime.
Complete your 2 maps using the Plotting Map Template given below..
Download Plotting Map Template.
Mapping Guidelines

The crime plotting example shows the crimes.
When it asks for a cluster, you would look for a certain crime and decide if there is a cluster and in what section of the town it would be located.
When it pertains to suggestions to the chief for shifts, you do this by time.
The time plotting example shows the same crimes by shift.

There are North, South, East, and West designations on the map.
Central Avenue splits the town into a north and south area. Although the West section of Central Avenue holds industrial buildings, it then travels east and has mostly businesses (shops, bars, and so on).
The northeast section of town is the downtown harbor area in which people of higher means are living.
The southeast section of town contains people of less than normal monetary means.
The northwest section of town is a median-income area but has gangs.
The southwest section of town has more of a residential feel.
The west section at Central Avenue holds industrial buildings.

Please add your file to the assignment submission section of the classroom.

Paper Assignment Portion

Your chief is asking for an analysis of the crime over the weekend. He has been receiving complaints from citizens that their area is not being covered to combat crime. He would like answers to the specific questions listed below. In a 2-page paper, answer the following questions:

Is there an excess of suspicious person reports in one area? If so, why do you think that may be happening?
Is there a lack of suspicious person reports in one area? If so, why do you think that may be happening?
Is there a certain time for burglaries? If so, why do you think that may be happening? Is there a cluster for the following:

Homicides
Burglaries
Robberies
Carjacking reports
Domestic reports
Home invasions
Driving under the influence

Are domestics related to one area? Why or why not?
The chief needs to allocate his officers to certain areas. At what day and time would he increase patrol car activity and in what area?
Give reasons to your chief as to why it would be advantageous to the department to have a computer-generated mapping system.

Modern portfolio theory (mpt) | Business & Finance homework help

EXERCISE 4Creating a hyperbola:One of the salient features of Modern Portfolio Theory (MPT) is the phenomenon of putting twostocks together such that the resulting portfolio has a lower standard deviation (lower risk) thaneither of the component stocks. This is the magic of diversification and this exercise illustratesthe phenomenon graphically.1) Overview: Given the pps data of two firms* from your portfolio file of last week you will useExcel to create the hyperbola that would result from plotting the risk/return profile of a set of fiveportfolios, each comprised of the two stocks as the dollar mix goes from 100% of the dollars instock A and 0% in stock B, to 0% in Stock A and 100% in stock B.* Note: For Spring 2014, stock A= GE & stock B=GOOG.2) You will begin by generating data for these five portfolios. The data will be risk and return, where risk is the standard deviation (population) of the daily returns of the portfolio and returns isthe total annual (or 12 month) return.3) The dollar mix of the five portfolios that you plot will be:Portfolio 1: 100% stock A and 0% stock BPortfolio 2: 75% stock A and 25% stock BPortfolio 3: 50% stock A and 50% stock BPortfolio 4: 25% stock A and 75% stock BPortfolio 5: 0% stock A and 100% stock B
4) Start by creating 5 separate portfolios in a new sheet (or “tab”) [Rename the tab “hyperbola”]in your portfolio file with the two firms mentioned above (stockA and stockB). Each of the fivenew portfolios will have the three tiers (pps, mkt value, daily returns) and each portfolio will havethree columns (the total portfolio, stockA , stockB). There will be a total of 15 new columns.See also the screenshot called “hyperbola snapshot” available on the Moodle webpage.5) Populate tier1 of stock A and stock B with the original pps data found in sheet1. Do this fivetimes, that is, once for each of the five portfolios.6) Calculate the “normalized number of shares” for stockA and stockB using =10000/ averagepps . Enter “number of share” data for both stocks in each of the five portfolios such thatportfolio1 has 100% of the normalized number of shares for stockA and 0% of the normalizednumber of shares for stockB. Portfolio2 has a 75% and 25% mix, and so on for the other threeportfolios.7) Using the same logic and formulas as in the main sheet, calculate the Market Values (Tier2)and Daily Returns (Tier3) for all 5 portfolios in the hyperbola tab.8) Calculate the Standard Deviation (of the population using =STDEVP ) of the Daily Returns ofeach of the 5 portfolios. Put these in a row below tier 3.9) Calculate the Total Return (top to bottom of Tier2) for each of the 5 portfolios using (last dayfirst day)/first day. Put these in a row below the STDEVP.10) Build and new little block of data (see again “hyperbola snapshot”) in which you display thestd deviations and total returns of the five portfolios. For each of the cells you can simply
reference the appropriate cell above. For example, use “=B766” [I’m don’t the actual rownumber] to display “.01857” as calculated in a previous cell.11) Chart the stdevp and totalK of the 5 portfolios. Use “scatter with data points connected bysmooth lines”.12) Optional: Modify the two axis so as to exaggerate the curve. Chart Tools>Layout >Axis. That is, by moving the borders closer to the actual curve, the curve will become morepronounced.

For the final project, you will assume the role of a classroom

For the Final Project, you will assume the role of a classroom teacher applying for a $10,000 Teacher Creativity Fellowship Grant. This award provides financial resources to teachers, which allows the recipient to spend time during the summer months developing an instructional experience that will be implemented and evaluated during the upcoming fall semester. These instructional experiences could include large projects, field trips, or simply improved daily or weekly lessons. This year’s grant recipients are awarded funding on the condition they develop instructional experiences and programs to support the learning of 21st century skills, specifically, creative and innovative skills.
A good example of this type of award competition in the real world is the Teacher Creativity Fellowship. Spend some time reviewing the information provided at this site to get a better understanding of a teacher grant request for proposal (RFP).
To further structure and define your Final Project, imagine you teach in a culturally diverse school, and you recognize a need to develop more culturally relevant instructional experiences that promote creative and innovative thinking. After carefully examining the information in the request for proposal for the grant described above, you realize the funding awards are based on the clarity and details of a form submitted for evaluation. After careful deliberation, you decide to apply for the grant to finance your time and help you obtain the resources needed to develop the proposed instructional experiences. Keep in mind that a primary component of your plan requires consideration of the culture and specific needs of each child enrolled in your class (or one of your classes) for the upcoming semester.
Writing the Final Project
Create your Final Project to meet the content and written communication expectations below. The content expectations include the seven parts of the request for proposal. If you have questions about the expectations for this assignment, use the Ask Your Instructor discussion section in the left-navigation pane of your course.
The following seven sections should be used as headings within your paper.
Content Expectations:

Part V: Instructional Plan Summary (2 points): Summarize the planned instructional experiences, providing a justification for the need to employ a culturally relevant framework to help facilitate both creativity and innovation skills and the content-area skills the instructional experience addresses.

Part VI. Evidence of Culturally Relevant Pedagogy in the Instructional Plan (8 points): Describe the planned learning experiences in detail. Ensure the plan includes at least four of the following nine strategy options:

Maximizing academic success through relevant instructional experiences
Addressing cultural competence through reinforcing students’ cultural integrity
Involving students in the construction of knowledge
Building on students’ interests and linguistic resources
Tapping home and community resources
Understanding students’ cultural knowledge
Using interactive and constructivist teaching strategies
Examining the curriculum from multiple perspectives
