Identify a few topics or themes present in the film and explain those topics or themes in light of the material of this course

Film is an important medium for how many people experience and consume sports. Films can play a very important role in shaping and forming communities. This is especially true when it comes to sports whose “field” is the natural world. For this paper, you will review one short film from the list given below in light of the material in the course.

Expectations:

– Identify a few topics or themes present in the film and explain those topics or themes in light of the material of this course. You are welcome to explore topics or themes that came up in the first part of the course (Weeks 1-5) but it is expected that you engage with the material from the latter part of the course (Weeks 6-12; especially Weeks 10-12) in a substantial way.
– Give consideration to how the film explores that topic or theme or idea in the way that they do. The “how” might include things like the narrative, music, words, setting, cinematography, etc. You are not expected to have any technical knowledge of filmmaking for this paper but you are expected to engage the film as a critic to help explain or bring to light some of the things going on in the film. As with any film review, you don’t want to assume that your reader has watched the film so be sure that you spend some time describing the film and what it is about.
– Each film explores a variety of different topics or themes related to the course. There is no one right way to review any of these films. My suggestion is that you pick a few elements in one of the films and use those elements as a lens or a window into some of the larger themes of the film.

Format:

– Since there is no bibliography, make sure to include all the necessary source information in the in-text citation so that the marker can identify your source. Here are some examples of appropriate intext citations:
