How can our nation overcome problems of race relations in establishing a fair and equal society? How have conditions for African Americans changed? How have they remained the same?

Students must submit a short research paper that compares and contrasts two events: one from the past, and one from the present. (Note: the term “events” broadly refers to notable developments or issues, recognized political and social leaders, organizations, and/or social movements.) This assignment focuses on the Core Objective of Social Responsibility. However Critical Thinking Skills and Communication Skills will also be assessed.
Students are free select which events that they would like to examine—although all topics MUST be approved by the professor. As with Signature Assignment 1, this paper must be double-spaced, in 12-point font, range between 300 and 600 words, and will be considered “late” under previously mentioned circumstances.
In this research paper, students are required to address each of the following:
How did individuals and groups involved with the events under analysis take a proactive role in changing society and/or participating in the democratic process?
(Concept from the rubric: citizenship)
What issues of fairness and/or inequality were addressed by individuals and groups involved with the events? Be sure to include a discussion of racial prejudice, discrimination, and ethical behaviors.
(Concept from the rubric: social justice)
How can our nation overcome problems of race relations in establishing a fair and equal society? How have conditions for African Americans changed? How have they remained the same?
(Concept from the rubric: ecology)
The paper must be double-spaced, in 12-point font, and range between 300 and 600 words (or 1-2 pages).
When examining the Black Lives Matter (BLM) protests and the LA Riots, there are several key aspects that can be considered for comparison: the underlying causes, the nature of the protests, and their broader impact. Here are some specific elements to consider in each aspect:
Underlying Causes (The Why):
LA Riots: Rooted in longstanding racial tensions, economic disparities, and a history of aggressive policing, particularly against African-American communities. The immediate trigger was the acquittal of the police officers involved in the beating of Rodney King.
BLM Protests: Sparked by systemic racism and police brutality, with George Floyd’s death serving as a catalyst. The movement focuses on a broader range of issues related to racial injustice.
Nature of the Protests (The How):
Violence and Looting: Both events saw instances of violence and looting, but the LA Riots were more characterized by widespread civil unrest and significant property damage.
Police Suppression: In both cases, there were reports of aggressive police tactics. However, the scale and intensity varied, with the LA Riots seeing a large-scale deployment of the National Guard.
Media Coverage: Media coverage in both events played a crucial role in shaping public perception. The LA Riots were one of the first major events to be covered extensively by round-the-clock news, while social media played a significant role in the BLM protests.
Broader Impact and Responses:
Policy Changes and Public Discourse: Both events led to discussions about race relations, policing, and social justice. However, the BLM movement has been more successful in sustaining a longer-term discussion and influencing policy changes.

Identify and discuss one part of your leadership practicum project that when implemented over the last few weeks went exactly as planned. What do you attribute to this success and why?

Reflection Paper (15% = 30 points)
Each student will submit a 2–3-page reflection paper. To avoid point deductions, please adhere to the following guidelines:
•
Title Page (does not count toward the 2-3 page limit)
•
Reference Page (does not count toward the 2-3 page limit)
•
First Person (use terms I, me, my, etc.)
•
Times New Roman 12 pt (or similar size)
•
Double Space (no extra spaces between paragraphs)
•
1-Inch Margins (on all sides)
•
Well-Written Paragraphs Only (do not use bullets or numbers)
•
Indent Paragraphs (use ½ inch indentation)
The reflection paper will include the following three (3) sections. Each section has several guiding questions to assist in developing a well-derived plan of action. Each section may consist of one or more well-written paragraphs. Do not include the questions in your paper.
Body of the Paper (must be a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 pages)
Section 1: The Leadership Practicum Project Reflection
•
Give at least three examples of specific learning (from previous DHA 801-808 coursework) that you used to help you complete your leadership practicum project. Be specific by referencing DHA courses by number, articles read by title/author, strategies used, case studies evaluated, and other relevant learning. Kotter’s 8-steps does not count as one of the three examples.
•
Identify and discuss one part of your leadership practicum project that when implemented over the last few weeks went exactly as planned. What do you attribute to this success and why?
•
Identify and discuss one part of your leadership practicum project that when implemented over the last few weeks proved to be a challenge. What might you have done differently to address this challenge and why?
•
Now that the leadership practicum project is completed, what would you do differently to ensure improved or enhanced outcomes and why? This is not the same as the challenge you identified in the previous question but rather more about your organization and implementation of the entire project.
Section 2: Accountability Partners Reflection
•
Sometimes leaders must quickly develop and implement plans to achieve goals. Discuss the process you used to select and connect with your accountability partners to form a group of three prior to the first zoom class. What made this process successful or not?
•
Leaders often map out the scope of the work and determine how a team will work together to achieve their goals. Discuss the group norms/expectations your accountability team agreed upon to ensure that all team members had sufficient time to answer the discussion board questions and read/respond to their accountability partners’ posts before the deadline. What made this process successful or not?
•
Leaders understand that team success is achievable when all team members focus on the tasks required and ensure that the end product represents the expected deliverable. Comment on the feedback you received from your accountability partners. Was it timely? Did it serve as a second “lens” to ensure that you had answered and addressed all discussion forum questions? Did it provide positive reinforcement of your thinking? Did it challenge or stretch your thinking? Did your accountability partners acknowledge any new learnings or insights they gained as a result of reading your posts? Go beyond “yes/no” answers for the questions listed. Provide specific evidence and examples to support your conclusions.

Section 3: Advice to Future DHA 809 Cohorts
•
Leaders understand the importance ongoing success, sustainability and the role they play in assisting the next generation of leaders. Now that you have finished the DHA 809 course, what advice would you give to the next DHA 809 Leadership Practicum cohort that will aid them in being successful in this course?

It is important to distinguish between your perspective and other perspectives regarding your commentary topic. What are some of the other perspectives you see? Summarize them briefly. Next, summarize your own perspective. In what ways does your perspective differ from other perspectives? Why is your perspective different?

Suppose a teacher asks you to design a dashboard to
monitor the students’ grades for the following courses IT-351: Computer
Networks,IT-353: System Analysis and Design , IT-475: Decision Support Systems,
And IT-479: Senior Project I . Design a dashboard by identifying the basic
elements (at least 7 KPIs ) that should be displayed on the dashboard using any
drawing programming to give an idea of how the dashboard should look like. You
should use some graphs and analysis on the dashboard..
What are the components of Decision Support Mathematical
Models? Choose any area and give examples.
AI technologies affect our lives in different
domains such as education, healthcare, business, etc. Choose any one domain and
discuss one AI application that has been used in that domain. You should be
specific about how the technology has been implemented and which AI method has
been used?

“We live in a turbulent fast-changing world, global disruptions including COVID-19 manufacturing restrictions and sanctions among some countries affect international trade and business. Discuss ethical issues multinational entreprises (MNEs) face when exiting sanctioned regimes like Russia. What are some strategies that MNEs in these regimes may adopt to be deemed responsible by society?

“We live in a turbulent fast-changing world, global disruptions including COVID-19 manufacturing restrictions and sanctions among some countries affect international trade and business. Discuss ethical issues multinational entreprises (MNEs) face when exiting sanctioned regimes like Russia. What are some strategies that MNEs in these regimes may adopt to be deemed responsible by society? A max. 1,000-word (not including end-text references, title page and other supplementary materials) report done
individually.
Assessment 2: Critical Analysis Report indicative structure:
Short introduction/background to answering the question (approximately 10-15% of the word count)
Discussion of ethical issues faced (approximately 40% of the word count)Paragraph 1 as solution 1
Paragraph 2 as solution 2
Paragraph n as solution n
Practical solutions/recommendations that MNEs can or already implement (approximately 40% of the word count)Solutions as in the point above
Conclusion/Summary (approximately 5-10% of the word count)
List of references in APA 7th format (not part of the word count)
Tips:
The main things assessed will be your (i) answer to the question (content), (ii) structure as a clear structure is the key to good business communication, and (iii) sources and referencing as you have to demonstrate that you can carry out research and form your opinion based on credible information sources.
This assessment is designed to test your independent research skills.
Use credible sources i.e., peer-reviewed materials, reports from credible institutions/organisations/news sources that have good reputation and not blogs or other various unknown/questionable internet sources like Wikipedia that can be written/edited by anyone or non-experts.
Ensure you utilise correct in-text and end-text referencing format i.e., APA 7th, you will be marked on the quality of referencing.
You have to utilise critical thinking, i.e., don’t take one or two sources and copy paste solutions from that limited resource as it will be considered as one-sided view. Critical thinking involves taking opinions from a variety of sources, forming your own informed opinion based on what you have read and understood and expressing your answer in the report.
As we are covering international business (a very wide subject with many variables), your answer should be comprehensive i.e., rather than discussing a couple of points in detail, you need to be talking about all the possible alternatives. In the case of this unit, a holistic approach precedes details. An overarching view with all the interconnections is most important.
Headings/subheadings are welcome.
Bullet points, figures, tables, other info that makes the report more interesting and answers the question are also welcome so long as you stay in the word count.
There is no need for definitions and other generic information that does not add value to answering the question. For example, do not write that there are problems with the global supply chains as a prudent person already knows this and you are not getting any points for stating the obvious.

In this scenario, you are the CEO of a healthcare organization. You are preparing for a presentation to community members about how healthcare is geographically located and the ethical effects to insurance versus no-charge healthcare systems. What are the differences between insurance and a no-charge healthcare system? What happens to the healthcare organization giving out too much free care? How do you convince the community that private healthcare insurance is necessary?
