Create a simple flowchart of the activity you selected.

Creating a Flowchart

Workflow analysis aims to determine workflow patterns that maximize the effective use of resources and minimize activities that do not add value. There are a variety of tools that can be used to analyze the workflow of processes and clarify potential avenues for eliminating waste. Flowcharts are a basic and commonly used workflow analysis method that can help highlight areas in need of streamlining.

In this Assignment, you select a common event that occurs regularly in your organization and create a flowchart representing the workflow. You analyze the process you have diagrammed and propose changes for improvement.

To prepare:

  • Identify a common, simple event that frequently occurs in your organization that you would like to evaluate.
  • Consider how you would design a flowchart to represent the current workflow.
  • Consider what metrics you would use to determine the effectiveness of the current workflow and identify areas of waste.

To complete:

Write a 3- to 5-page paper which includes the following:

  • Create a simple flowchart of the activity you selected. (Review the Sample Workflow of Answering a Telephone in an Office document found in this week’s Learning Resources for an example.)
  • Next, in your paper:
    • Explain the process you have diagrammed.
    • For each step or decision point in the process, identify the following:
      • Who does this step? (It can be several people.)
      • What technology is used?
      • What policies and rules are involved in determining how, when, why, or where the step is executed?
      • What information is needed for the execution of this step?
    • Describe the metric that is currently used to measure the soundness of the workflow. Is it effective?
    • Describe any areas where improvements could occur and propose changes that could bring about these improvements in the workflow.
    • Summarize why it is important to be aware of the flow of an activity.
  • Remember to include a cover page, introduction, and summary for your paper.

Economic espionage is a serious threat to U.S. companies that rely on innovation.

Economic espionage is a serious threat to U.S. companies that rely on innovation. This assignment will be based on a true event. Before starting this assignment, review the following video transcript. It is from a CBS’s 60 Minutes, broadcast in January 2016.

  7. Berne Convention
  8. WIPO Copyright Treaty of 1996
  9. Family Entertainment and Copyright Act of 2005
  10. Telephone Records and Privacy Protection Act of 2006

Your total report should be eight to ten pages long, of business quality, and follow the outline. Additionally, your report should be supported by no fewer than five scholarly sources in addition to your textbook and follow APA guidelines for formatting and style

Write a statement identifying your professional development goals.

The Assignment:

  • Using the Academic Success and Professional Development Plan Template  in which you began to work on in Week 1, and have continued working on  through this course, in Part 5, you will develop a curriculum vitae (CV)  based on your current education and professional background.
  • Write a statement identifying your professional development goals.
  • Write a statement proposing how you might align one or more of  your professional development goals with the University’s emphasis on  social change.

Social Change

Walden University defines positive social change  as a deliberate process of creating and applying ideas, strategies, and  actions to promote the worth, dignity, and development of individuals,  communities, organizations, institutions, cultures, and societies.  Positive social change results in the improvement of human and social  conditions.

This definition of positive social change provides an intellectually  comprehensive and socially constructive foundation for the programs,  research, professional activities, and products created by the Walden  academic community.

In addition, Walden supports positive social change through the  development of principled, knowledgeable, and ethical  scholar-practitioners, who are and will become civic and professional  role models by advancing the betterment of society.

Interview an individual who has a chronic illness.

Learning to live with a chronic illness is an exhausting challenge for everyone involved. From diagnosis until either the illness resolves or the client’s life ends, that individual and family must make every decision and every move with the chronic illness in mind.;

The social worker’s role is many times fairly limited. It is often a matter of following the client and seeing that their basic needs are being met. At times, it does take on the role of sleuth when the social worker is able to go in search of resources to help pay for special needs for everything from prostheses to new treatments. At the very least, it is to help the client and their family to hold on to hope.

To Prepare:

Interview an individual who has a chronic illness. With the individual’s permission, interview them about what it is like to live with a chronic illness, the most difficult parts of being chronically ill, how they manage their illness, what aspects—if any—frighten them, what kind of social support and family support they have, how willing they would be to try new treatment methods, and which social worker stands out most in their mind (good or bad) and why.

In a 5-6-minute video reflect on the following:

  • How did it feel for you to talk candidly with an individual about their illness?
  • Who would you say was more uncomfortable talking about it—you or the person you were interviewing?
  • Why?
  • How informed was in the individual about their illness and the treatments and prognosis?
  • How supported did this individual feel from the community, and how did that support change from before they became ill?
  • What insights did you gain from this experience that you will take into the field as a social worker to help when you work with clients with chronic illnesses?
Discussion 1: evidence-based interventions used in trauma

Individuals can experience trauma from public events at the national level or extremely private ones at the interpersonal level. In this Discussion, you analyze these two types of trauma, describing potential interventions and their effectiveness.

To prepare: Read the DSM-5 section on trauma and stressor-related disorders and review the Learning Resources on PTSD, disaster response, and trauma.

Then search the literature for studies related to an evidence-based intervention used to treat those suffering from trauma and stressor-related issues. Specifically, locate the following:

  • One study on treating symptoms resulting from a national traumatic event (e.g., natural disaster, mass shooting)
  • One study on treating symptoms resulting from an interpersonal trauma (e.g., rape, childhood sexual molestation, domestic violence)

Post a response in which you address the following:

  • Post the APA references for the two studies you located.
  • Provide a brief description of the traumatic events, including a summary of how they affected the individuals involved.
  • Describe the interventions discussed in the articles and explain how they addressed the psychosocial issues and needs of the individuals affected by the trauma.
  • Explain the effectiveness of the interventions, as stated in the articles.
  • Analyze and discuss the similarities and differences in the individuals’ needs depending on whether the issues occurred due to a national traumatic event or an interpersonal trauma.

Support your post with specific references to the resources. Be sure to provide full APA citations for your references

write a 4-page (4 minute) script.

Based on what you have learned in Chapter 2, Interpreting The Written Word, write a 4-page (4 minute) script. You may choose to write your script for an animation or for live action. Think of this as a script for a short film or one scene in a longer film.

Your script will meet these objectives:

• Write a brief, one-paragraph treatment for your story/script idea – See the About Treatments page below to learn about this

• 4 pages, 12-point Courier font

• Indentation and spacing as shown on pages 20, 22, 23 in the textbook. Each script page represents 1 minute of screen time.

• Script may be for an animation or live action production

• Include at least two different characters

• This may be a self-contained short film (4 minutes) or one scene excerpted from a longer film

• Include the slugline (master scene heading) that describes the location, time of day, weather, etc.

• Include script elements for action prior to dialogue, character names and actor direction in parentheses

Think about the type of dramatic conflict that may be the basis for a plot for your script:

  • Human vs. self
  • Human vs. human
  • Human vs. nature
  • Human vs. environment
  • Human vs. technology (machine)
  • Human vs. supernatural
  • Human vs. god

(If your characters are not human, just substitute their “species” in place of “human”)

A treatment is a brief synopsis or description of the story idea for your animation or film. For the scriptwriting assignment, you only need to write a short paragraph. Treatments should read like a short story and be written in the third person, present tense. It should present the entire story including the ending.

Do you believe you have the traits to be an effective leader?

Do you believe you have the traits to be an effective leader? Perhaps you are already in a supervisory role, but as has been discussed previously, the appointment does not guarantee leadership skills.

How can you evaluate your own leadership skills and behaviors? You can start by analyzing your performance in specific areas of leadership. In this Discussion, you will complete Gallup’s StrengthsFinder assessment. This assessment will identify your personal strengths, which have been shown to improve motivation, engagement, and academic self-conference. Through this assessment, you will discover your top five themes—which you can reflect upon and use to leverage your talents for optimal success and examine how the results relate to your leadership traits.

Post a brief description of your results from the StrengthsFinder assessment. Then, briefly describe two core values, two strengths, and two characteristics that you would like to strengthen based on the results of your StrengthsFinder assessment. Be specific.

Making recommendations on how you might strengthen the leadership behaviors profiled in your StrengthsFinder assessment, or by commenting on the lessons learned from the results that can be applied to personal leadership philosophies and behaviors.
