Do you feel this is voter suppression?

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott,  signed into law Senate Bill 1, which tightens  state election laws and puts constraints on local elections by  limiting counties’ ability to expand voting options. The bill could  expand access in predominant Republican counties by increasing early  voting hours. However, it restricts how and when voters cast ballots.  It cuts overnight early voting hours and drive-thru voting — both of  which proved popular among voters of color. There are other  restrictions listed in the bill.

Do you feel this is voter suppression? Analyze the degree of voter  suppression being a problem in the United States? Should there be  federal mandates? If so, what is the remedy to cure voter suppression?

Week 4 research proposal project: design (sampling, reliability

Design

For this section of your research proposal assignment, you will focus on the sampling, reliability, and validity of your research proposal. This section will include information on sampling, reliability, and validity.

The following components should be addressed in your paper this week:

Information on your sample

  • Sampling basic information (age, gender, criteria, etc.)
  • Sample size
  • Explain why your sample is appropriate for your study

Reliability

  • Explain how your data collection process is consistent and reliable
  • Explain why your measurement tool is reliable

Validity

  • Explain how you will ensure you have a valid sample
  • Explain how you tested the validity of your measurement tool

APA formatting, references, and citations are required.

Your research project design should be included as part of your final submission for your research proposal project in week 7 and your research proposal presentation in week 8. Use the feedback you receive from your instructor on your design to modify and improve before submission of your final project in weeks 7 and 8.

In this discussion, provide examples of the application of these concepts in a health care setting.

In the discussion preparation, you were asked to summarize the crucial steps involved in conducting a trial based on the pleadings of the defendants, leading up to the execution of judgments and including the awarding of damages. You were also asked to analyze the concept of respondeat superior and the concept of corporate negligence as they apply to responsibilities of the hospital’s governing body and corporate structure. In this discussion, provide examples of the application of these concepts in a health care setting.

Discuss two ways your technology skill could help you obtain or be successful in the position.

We want to know what you think and how you’re doing! Let us know by responding to a few questions that will help you reflect on what you learned this week.

The following prompts will give you a chance to self-evaluate, to think about what you’ve been learning in this course, and to draw your own conclusions about how you can apply your technology and productivity skills in your life. Your answers may be used to determine how to improve the program for future students. Your answers will not be used for marketing purposes. Be sure to use your own words!

Over the past few weeks you have been learning about the technology and productivity skills. Think back to the career field and position you described in the Week 5 reflection. Then write 1–3 sentences for each of the following:

1. Restate the position that you are interested in obtaining.

2. Discuss two ways your technology skill could help you obtain or be successful in the position.

3. Discuss two ways your productivity skill could help you obtain or be successful in the position.

4. Identify one aspect of either your technology or productivity skill that you would like to improve to become even better equipped for success in your desired position.

5. Describe a strategy or find a resource that will help you make that improvement.

Make sure you submit your reflection to receive credit

What is evidence-based nursing practice and why is it important?
  1. Create an original posting with a minimum of 250-300 words.
  2. Back up your arguments with reliable evidence.

Asking the Relevant Clinical Questions

Evidence-based nursing is a process founded on the collection, interpretation, appraisal, and integration of valid, clinically significant, and applicable research. It is not about developing new knowledge or validating existing knowledge, but rather translating existing evidence so that it can be applied to clinical decision making. This process starts with formulating a sound PICO question. PICO is a format for developing a good clinical research question prior to starting a review or research. It is a mnemonic used to describe the four elements of a sound clinical foreground question.

Scenarios:

#1   A nurse in the PACU is interested in ways to decrease the use of pain medication in post-op patients. She’s wondering if classical music or guided imagery might be efficacious.

#2   A 17-year-old African American woman, just diagnosed with hepatitis B, has been taking acetaminophen for headaches. Her mother has heard that acetaminophen can cause liver problems, and she asks you if her daughter should continue taking the drug for her headaches, considering her hep-b diagnosis.

#3   You are on a hospital committee exploring best practices in inpatient oncology nursing. The first question to come before the committee is, “how can we improve patients’ sleep quality and quantity without resorting to sleep medication?” The committee decides to explore relaxation techniques (e.g., massage; music), noise reduction, bed/pillow comfort, and ambient temperature changes. Your assignment is to find the best practices to reduce noise levels on the unit.

#4   A 53-year-old woman with rheumatoid arthritis wants to possibly change her medication to short-term low-dose corticosteroids instead of NSAIDS, which are upsetting her stomach. Will the corticosteroids be as effective?

#5   Jeff, a smoker of more than 30 years, has tried to quit unsuccessfully in the past. A friend of his recently quit with acupuncture. He wonders if he should try it.

Instructions:

  1. Choose one (1) clinical scenario above, and answer the following questions:
    1. What is evidence-based nursing practice and why is it important?
    2. What is the PICO process?
    3. Formulate a well defined clinical question that will yield the most relevant and best evidence.
    4. Describe the background of the question
    5. Present the question using PICOT format
    6. Indicate what will be the best study to answer the clinical question.
You are the manager of a firm that receives revenues of $20,000 per year

You are the manager of a firm that receives revenues of $20,000 per year from product X and $70,000 per year from product Y. The own price elasticity of demand for product X is -2, and the cross-price elasticity of demand between product Y and X is -1.5.

How much will your firm’s total revenues (revenues from both products) change if you increase the price of good X by 1 percent?
