POST 1
As an employee of American Express, I would feel good about the bonus being tied to the customers. It does not affect your base so it is all extra potential money that can be made. It would make me work hard to learn how to be better when dealing with the customers. You can set goals for yourself to see how many customers referred the company. Once the bonuses start rolling in, it would be the ultimate motivator to make more. Some downsides to this would be that your bonus is in the hands of the customer, not yourself. You have to hope that they will refer the company to a friend. You can be the most driven, passionate, and courteous person but you might get stuck with all angry and upset customers. You do not have the control which can make it not motivating if you don’t receive a decent bonus.
The strategy that I find to be the most motivating would be the intrinsic motivation. Having your own business cards, changing the job title, and having a flexible schedule. Having a call center job seems to be like the movie Ground Hogs Day where every day is the same. It can become very monotonous and tedious. Having these little changes can change the way you approach your job. That feeling of importance.

POST 2

As an American Express employee who relied on customers recommendation to up my salary would be very hard for me. I am a horrible sales person and the thought that someone else’s word of mouth depended on me making my mortgage would be hard to handle.
I guess the up side to that would of course be a large bonus if you were successful. But but then the next month you were having an off month and didn’t get a referral and now you find yourself short on your mortgage and bills.
For me the flexibly scheduling would be the most compelling reason to work there. I am an early riser and if I could be on an earlier schedule that would help me a ton.

MY MY DISCUSSION POST RQD

POST 1 :Motivation is important, it not only assist in getting the most out of employees, but it also helps retain the best employees. The organization I work for already has a lot of great recognition programs; the problem is that the direct manager does not make them available to us. I think it would motivate our team if our management group would use the resources provided by the organization. They can start by recognizing the members of our team who go beyond what is expected. Management should also use the flexible work schedule program available to employees instead of making us feel like we are prisoners of our work schedule. Some employees prefer to come in early and some a little later. If the company already offers it, then management in our department should not make it difficult for us to have a flex-schedule. Motivation is increased when communication is improved, employee recognition and rewards for good work are implemented, and when responsibility increases. Employees who are given more responsibility will feel a greater ownership in the business and will be more motivated to work harder to make the business succeed.

POST2:Goal Setting Theory is a good way for employers to motivate their employees because it provides an agreed upon goal and outcome that the employee must achieve in order to receive the reward. This empowers the employee not only to come up with the goal to achieve with the employers buyin, but also what success looks like in the end. This also is a good way employers can differentiate between others and their rewards as everyone’s goals will be different.

S.M.A.R.T Goals are also a good way to assess performance. Since they are Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Results-based, and Time-Sensitive. Like the Goal Setting Theory the SMART goals also are mutually agreed upon by the employer and the employee. The goals have to be met in order to be rewarded and will be different amongst the staff. Employers can link rewards directly to the goal achievement. “Performance agreements reduce ambiguity and sets the stage for top performance.” Where I work at Amgen we use SMART Goals to establish our goals and then we are rated against those goals during our annual performance review. I think it is a great tool for a “fair” way to evaluate and reward employees.

Applying analytic techniques to business devan | FPX5008 |

In the last assessment, you were asked to prepare the first part of your analytics report by creating graphs and calculating some descriptive statistics. In this assessment, you will write your 5-8 page analytics report by interpreting those graphs and statistics, and explicitly connecting those interpretations to implications in the practical business context.
The first step in creating meaningful information from raw data is to represent the data effectively in graphical format and to calculate any required statistics. The second step is interpreting and explaining those graphs and statistics in order to apply them in the business context.
In the previous assessment, you were asked to create the first part of your analytics report by preparing graphs and calculating some descriptive statistics. In this assessment, you will complete your analytics report by interpreting those graphs and statistics, and connecting those interpretations explicitly to implications in the business context.
In business and applied analytics, oftentimes you are interested in drawing conclusions about a population of interest. However, it may not be feasible or practical to gather data on the entire population. In those cases, data is gathered from a sample or subset of the population. Analyses done on the sample are then used to draw inferences regarding the overall population; this mathematic process is referred to asinferential statistics. In this assessment, we begin discussing the topics of sampling and drawing inferences.
All the inferential statistical techniques and methods covered in this course are considered parametric techniques and require certain assumptions to be used and for the results to be reliable, many of which are assumptions about an underlying distribution. Nonparametric techniques require no assumption about underlying distributions and are often used when the assumptions of parametric techniques are not met. Although these are beyond the scope of this introductory course, they are a great option for additional reading and research.
Analytics projects often result in two distinct types of reports or summaries: one tailored to the executive level, which takes the form of a presentation, and the other, a detailed analytics report, which documents an analysis so thoroughly that another analyst can reproduce the analysis exactly. Many times, the latter type is referred to by other departments or analysts wishing to conduct a similar analysis on similar data or by the same analyst who wants to repeat the analysis on a new or revised set of data. In this assessment, you will learn the essential elements that should be included in a report at this level of detail and you will create your own analytics report addressing the business problem you have been working on.
Scenario
The first step in creating meaningful information to develop a business report for decision making. The business report includes the analyzed raw data, effectively presents the analysis results in text and graphical format, as well as calculate any required statistics.
The second step is interpreting and explaining the graphs and statistics to understand the impact in the practical business context.
In the last assessment, you were asked to create the first part of your business analytics report by introducing a company, analyzing company stock data, developing graphs, and calculating some descriptive statistics.
In this assessment, you will adjust your business report to minimize limitations of one year’s worth of data. You will use the same company for this assessment and you will use 5 years of data!
You will also enhance your introduction or business context section of your business report based on your new graphs and your interpretation of the data graphs and descriptive statistics over a five year period. Your interpretation efforts of graphs and descriptive statistics will explicitly connect in the conclusion area. Conclusions and recommendations are the final effort in the development of a practical business report and should be supported by citations. Remember that opinion is not allowed.
Your Role
Your supervisor has asked you to prepare a report for the quarterly company meeting. The first part of the task was to download the data and create scatterplots and histograms, and to calculate mean, median, and mode of 5 years of stock prices for your report. Now you must analyze and interpret those graphical representations of the company stock and write the report of your findings and recommendations for your supervisor.
You are an analyst using the same company and five years of stock data. Having accessed the company data and placed it in an appropriate graphical format, you must now use descriptive statistics and analysis to develop a report to inform business decisions.
Instructions
After reviewing and integrating your instructor’s feedback on your previous Assessment, complete the report as follows:

For each graph you created, write at least one well supported paragraph interpreting the graph: What does that graph represent? What does the shape of the graph tell you about how the data have changed over time?
For each statistic you calculated, include at least two to three well-supported sentences explaining what the statistic represents:

What does the mean tell you? How do you know?
What does it imply if the median is different from the mean?
What does the standard deviation tell you about the volatility of the data?

Write a new conclusions section in which you explain how these interpretations can be used in the company:

What are some trends about which company leaders should be aware?
How might the information you have provided be used in decision making in the company?
What are other analysts indicating about the stock?

Explicitly connect other analysts’ comments and recommendations to your interpretations to possible impact to the business context
Lastly, should your company invest of partner with the company or stock being evaluated?

Create a 5-8 page report containing:

APA-formatted title page.
1-2 page introduction of your chosen company that you created in your previous assessment.
Section labeled Graphical Representations of Data that includes the four graphs you created as well as your interpretations of the graphs.
Section labeled Descriptive Statistics, with the statistics you calculated as well as your interpretations of the statistics.
One-page conclusion in which you describe the potential business applications of the data and interpretations.
APA-formatted references page (remember to cite the source of your financial data, analyst comments and support for your interpretations).

Planning for Data Collection

Data collection is an important part of both quantitative and qualitative research. Although the actual approach to gathering information may vary, for either research design, researchers need to plan in advance how the data will be gathered, reported, and stored, and they need to ensure that their methods are both reliable and valid. As nurses review research when considering a new evidence-based practice, it is important to be familiar with sound collection practices in order to ascertain the credibility of the data presented.
Consider the following scenario:

Nurses and other health care professionals are often interested in assessing patient satisfaction with health care services. Imagine that you are a nurse working in a suburban primary care setting that serves 10,000 patients annually. Your organization is very interested in understanding the patient’s point of view to help determine areas of care that can be improved. With this focus in mind, consider how you would create a survey to assess patient satisfaction with the services your organization provides. You may wish to consider variables such as the ease of accessing care, patient wait time, friendliness of the staff, or the likelihood that a patient would recommend your organization to others.

For this Discussion, you generate questions and an overall plan for data collection that would be appropriate for a patient satisfaction survey in relation to the above scenario.
To prepare:

Consider the guidelines for generating questions presented in this week’s Learning Resources.
Review the scenario and formulate at least five questions that you could use to evaluate patient satisfaction.
Reflect on the different methods or instruments that can be used for gathering data described in Chapter 13 and Chapter 22 of the course text. Which methods or instruments would work well for the scenario?
Determine an appropriate sample size for the scenario.

Post the questions that you created for gathering information about patient satisfaction based on the above scenario. Explain which method or instrument you would use to gather data. Describe the sample size appropriate for the population and how you would select participants. Provide a rationale for your choices, and explain how you can ensure high standard of reliability and validity.

Excel Chapter 1 Mid-Level 1 – Guest House Rental Rates
Exp22 Excel Ch01 ML1 Rentals
Exp22 Excel Ch01 ML1 Rentals

Project Description:
You manage a beach guest house in Ft. Lauderdale containing three types of rental units. Prices are based on peak and off-peak times of the year. You need to calculate the maximum daily revenue for each rental type, assuming all units are rented. In addition, you need to calculate the discount rate for off-peak rental times. Finally, you will improve the appearance of the worksheet by applying font, alignment, and number formats.

Start Excel. Download and open   the file named Exp22_Excel_Ch01_ML1_Rentals.xlsx.   Grader has automatically added your last name to the beginning of the   filename.

You want to format the main   title to have a consistent appearance to other documents and spreadsheets.
Apply the Heading 1 cell style to the range A1:G1.

You want to apply a similar,   complementary style to the date, which is below the main title.
Apply the 20% – Accent1 cell style to the range A2:G2.

The Peak Rentals heading is   centered over the related data in columns C and D. You want the Off-Peak   Rentals heading to be centered over its related data.
Merge and center Off-Peak Rentals   in the range E4:G4.

To help other people know that   the Off-Peak Rentals heading is related to three columns of data, you want to   apply a fill color to that heading. You will choose a different color to   distinguish these data columns from the fill color used for the Peak Rentals   heading.
Apply Blue fill color (the eighth color below Standard Colors) and White,   Background 1 font color to cell E4.

Three headings (Maximum Revenue,   Maximum Revenue, and Discount Rate) do not fully display on the fifth row.   Instead of widening the columns, you want to wrap the headings within their   respective cells. This will enable you to maintain the column width   appropriate for the data below the headings.
Center and wrap the headings on row 5.

The headings in D5 and F5 wrap   within words because the columns are too narrow. You will widen those columns   and center the number of units below its column heading.
Set the width of columns D and F to 10.0. Select the range B6:B8 and horizontally center   the data.

One of the rental types is   missing from the list. You want to insert a row after the Studio Apartment   row and enter the missing rental type.
Insert a row above the 1 Bedroom Suite. In cell A7, type Ocean View   Studio. In cell   B7, type 4. In cell C7, type 275. In cell E7, type 200.

You want to change Suite to   Apartment in the list.
Find occurrences of Suite and   replace them with occurrences of Apartment.

You are ready to calculate the   Peak Rentals Maximum Revenue that can be earned. The maximum revenue is the   total revenue if all rental units are rented.
In cell D6, enter a formula that calculates the Peak Rentals Maximum Revenue.

You are ready to calculate the   Off-Peak Rentals Maximum Revenue that can be earned. The maximum revenue is   the total revenue if all rental units are rented.
In cell F6, enter a formula that calculates the Off-Peak Rentals Maximum   Revenue.

The Discount Rate is the percentage   off of the Peak Rentals Per Day Rate used to calculate the Off-Peak Rentals   Per Day rate. The Studio Apartment rents for $116.05 Off-Peak, which is 77.4%   of the $149.95 Peak rate. Therefore, the Discount Rate for the Off-Peak Per   Day rate is 22.6%.
In cell G6, enter a formula that calculates the Discount Rate for the   Off-Peak rental price per day.

You created formulas for the   Peak Rentals Maximum Revenue, Off-Peak Rentals Maximum Revenue, and the   Discount Rate for the Off-Peak Rentals for the Studio Apartment rental type.   Now you want to copy the formulas to the remaining rental types so that you   don’t have to create formulas again.
Copy the formula in cell D6 to cells D7:D9. Copy the formula in cell F6 to   the range F7:F9. Copy the formula in cell G6 to cells G7:G9.

The values in the columns are   hard to read with varying numbers of decimal points. The Accounting Number   Format will align the decimal points and display dollar signs to improve the   appearance of the monetary values.
Format the range C6:F9 with Accounting Number Format.

The Discount Rate formula   results are displayed as decimal values. However, formatting the values as   percentages will align decimal points and clearly indicate the percentages.
Format the range G6:G9 in Percent Style with one decimal place.

You applied a solid blue to the   Off-Peak Rentals heading, so you will apply a complementary lighter blue fill   color to the data below that heading.
Apply Blue, Accent 5, Lighter 80% fill color to the range E5:G9.

You want to apply a   complementary fill color to the data below the Peak Rentals heading.
Select the range C5:D9 and apply Gold, Accent 4, Lighter 80% fill color.

To help offset the headings from   the rental data, you will apply a border.
Apply the Bottom Border style to the range A5:G5.

Before finalizing the worksheet,   you should check the spelling.
Use Excel to check the spelling and correct errors. Excel should find two   errors. (Mac users, if only one error is found, manually check and correct   spelling errors.)

To preserve the original data,   you make a copy a worksheet so that you can manipulate the data or if you   want to review the formulas.
Create a copy of the Rates worksheet, place the new sheet to the right side   of the original worksheet, and rename the new sheet as Formulas.

Now that the worksheet contains   formulas and is formatted, you are ready to apply Page Setup options to   prepare the worksheet to be printed, if needed.
Select both worksheets. Select Landscape orientation. Set 1-inch top, bottom,   left, and right margins. Center the data horizontally on the page, and apply   the setting to fit to one page.

It is important to provide   identification information in a footer of the worksheets. In particular, the   textbook series name, the worksheet name, and the file name help identify the   worksheet.
Insert a footer with the text Exploring Series on the left side, the sheet name code in the   center, and the file name code on the right side.

You want to display the formulas   and set print options so that it will be easier to read and interpret the   rental formulas on a printout, if needed.
On the Formulas worksheet, display cell formulas, and set options to print   gridlines and headings. Set a width of 13 for column A and 7 for column B.

Save and close Exp22_Excel_Ch01_ML1_Rentals.xlsx.   Exit Excel. Submit the file as directed.

My Initial post :
Capital budgeting can be defined as the way to allocate resources of the firm in a most efficient manner which increases the value of the firm by highest magnitude. It is used to asses whether  mine a firm’s long term investments such as machinery, replacement of machinery, new plants, new products, and research development projects are worth the funding through the firm’s capitalization structure. If they provide returns above required return then they shall be funded. Also capital budget determines how much to allocate between different expenses
Capital budgeting is not a scientific model, the methods adopted in capital budgeting have many limitations.

Inaccuracy of forecast cash flow : based on a set of assumptions of cash flow without consideration of business condition in detail
Time horizon : The problem of forecasting increases with increase of time horizon
Discounting rate : generally budgeting use a fixed discounting rate , consider as cost of capital of firm. The cost of capital may vary with change in interest rate or other factors in market.
Expense allocations. Some time many cost are not consider in decision making , and mark as sunk cost , which may create problem in profit calculation.

To minimize such problem , firm should use following methods to improvement

Interest rate should be different for different year in discount

Rather than using old discounting method , we should use probability method of decision making.
Peer 1:
The process by which a company evaluates possible big projects or investments is known as capital budgeting. Capital budgeting is not a scientific model, and the procedures used in it have numerous flaws.
– Forecast cash flow is incorrect because it is based on a set of cash flow assumptions rather than a thorough examination of the business situation. – Time horizon: As the time horizon grows longer, the difficulty of forecasting becomes more difficult. – Discounting rate: In general, budgeting uses a fixed discounting rate, which is taken into account as the firm’s cost of capital. The cost of capital may alter in response to changes in interest rates or other market conditions. – Allocations of expenses. Many costs are sometimes overlooked while making decisions and are written off as sunk costs, which can cause problems with profit calculations.
To minimize such problem , firm should use following methods to improvement; In a discount, the interest rate for each year should be different.
We should utilize the probability approach of decision making instead of the previous discounting method.
Peer 2

Capital budgeting is the process that companies use to evaluate potential projects and investments. There are several methods that are used in the capital budgeting process, although some are more useful than others. These include the NPV method, internal rate of return method, profitability index, payback period, and discounted payback period. However, as with many evaluating tools in the finance world, some of these methods can be problematic. So it is important to know what kinds of problems we may run into when completing capital budgeting analysis. These problems include; cash flow, time horizon, time value, and discount rates.
Cash flows are the first and most important step in the capital budgeting process. However, they can be difficult to get accurate, as they are only estimates. If revenues are overestimated or costs underestimated then a project looking profitable may not be. Time horizon is a problem because the longer the time that a project covers, the more uncertainty there is in any estimates that we make. As many external factors that could occur in the future could affect cash flows. Such as inflation, wars, or competition from other businesses. Calculating the proper discount rate to use in any capital budgeting method that involves the time value of money can also be tricky, as there is always the possibility that external factors like increasing interest rates will occur, changing the cost of capital, and changing the proper discount rate. Time value is a problem to be aware of when using a method that does not account for the time value of money. The payback method is an example of this, as this method only asks how long it will take to recoup the initial costs of the project, without factoring in the time value concepts.
One solution that can be used to minimize the issues, is to never use just one capital budgeting method, instead many or all of these should be considered. Managers and decision-makers also need to be aware of external factors that may have an impact on calculations and adjust numbers as needed.

Excel Chapter 1 Hands-On Exercise – Celebrity Musician’s Souvenir Shop

Project Description:
As the assistant manager of Celebrity Musician’s Souvenir Shop, you want to calculate the retail price, sale price, and profit analysis for selected items on sale this month. You will calculate sale prices based on discount rates. Finally, you will calculate the profit margin to determine the percentage of the final sale price over the cost. You will check the spelling, use Auto Fill to complete a sequence for product codes, and find and replace text. In addition, you will adjust column and row settings, move and copy data, format the worksheet, and apply Page Setup options.

Start Excel. Download and open   the file named Exp22_Excel_Ch01_HOE_Souvenirs.xlsx.   Grader has automatically added your last name to the beginning of the   filename.

You notice that the worksheet   contains some spelling errors that need to be corrected.
Use Excel to check and correct the spelling errors in the worksheet.

You want to use Auto Fill to   enter a series of codes to create the product numbers.
Enter 101   in cell B5 and   use Auto Fill to complete the sequence for the range B6:B10 with a series.

To motivate customers to buy   more products, you want to change the 5% (0.05) off to 10% (0.10) off.
Find all occurrences of 0.05 and replace them with 0.10.

Column C contains the cost of   each product, and column D contains the markup rate. Using these values, you   will calculate the markup amount for each product in column E.
In cell E5, enter a formula to calculate the markup amount, which is the   result of multiplying the cost by the markup rate. Copy the formula to the   range E6:E10.

Now that you have calculated the   markup amount, you can calculate the retail price for each product in column   F.
In cell F5, enter a formula to calculate the retail price, which is the sum   of the cost and the markup amount. Copy the formula to the range F6:F10.

Each item is on sale this week.   The sale price is X percent off the retail price. You need to calculate the   sale price.
In cell H5, calculate the sale price. Copy the formula down the range H6:H10.

The profit margin is the ratio   of the net profit as a percentage of revenue. The formula first calculates   the net profit between the sale price and the cost and divides that by the   sale price.
In cell I5, enter a formula to calculate the profit margin. Copy the formula   to the range I6:I10.

You decide to add a column to   display the profit. Because profit is a dollar amount, you want to keep the   profit column close to another column of dollar amounts. You will insert a   column for the profit amount and enter the column heading.
Insert a new column I and enter Profit Amount in cell I4.

Now you are ready to enter the   profit amount formula.
In cell I5, enter a formula to calculate the profit, which is the difference   between the sale price and original cost. Copy the formula to the range   I6:I10.

You want to insert two rows for   category names above their respective products. Then you want to delete the   row containing the Soundtrack CD.
Insert a new row 5 and type Apparel in cell A5. Insert a new row 8 and enter Souvenirs in cell A8. Bold the words in   cells A5 and A8. Delete row 11 containing the Soundtrack CD.

Column A is too narrow for the   product names. You want to increase the width. In addition, you want to   increase the height for the first row. Finally, you decide to hide the   product code column.
Increase the width of column A to 23.00. Change the height of row 1 to 30. Hide column B containing the product codes.

The T-shirt product is below the   Souvenirs heading. This product belongs in the Apparel section. You will move   the T-shirt product row to be above the Souvenirs heading.
Select and cut the range A11:J11. Insert cut cells on row 8.

The travel mug product   information is missing. Because it is similar to the mug data, you will copy   and paste the mug data and then edit it for the travel mug.
Copy the range A10:J10 and paste it in cell A12. In cell A12, enter Travel Mug. In cell C12, enter 7.

You want to experiment with   Paste Options.
In cell A1, apply bold, select 14 pt font size, and select Dark Red font   color. Copy the range A1:J12 and paste it in cell A20 as Values & Source   Formatting.

The worksheet title should stand   out prominently on the worksheet.
Select the range A1:J1 and apply Heading 1 cell style, merge and center the   data, and apply Middle Align vertical alignment.

The column headings on row 4   should be formatted to improve the appearance of the worksheet.
Select the range A4:J4. Horizontally center, apply bold, and wrap text for   the headings.

To distinguish the product names   from the category headings Apparel and   Souvenirs, you will indent the   product names.
Select the ranges A6:A8 and A10:A12. Indent twice the product names.

You want to apply a fill color   to highlight the column labels. In addition, you want to draw attention to   the sale information by adding a border around data.
Select the range A4:J4. Apply Blue-Gray, Text 2, Lighter 80% fill color   (second row, fourth column). Select the range G4:H12 and apply the Thick   Outside Borders. On a Mac, apply Thick Box Border.

You want to display the dollar   signs for the monetary to improve readability.
Select the ranges C6:C12, E6:F12, and H6:I12 and apply Accounting Number   Format.

The Markup Rate and Profit   Margin values should be formatted with percent signs with one decimal place.
Select the ranges D6:D12 and J6:J12. Apply Percent Style and increase the   decimal points to show one digit to the right of the decimal point.

The Percent Off should be   formatted with percent signs and centered in the column.
Select the range G6:G12, apply Percent Style, and horizontally center the   data.

You want the percentages in   column J to align better below the column label.
Select the range J6:J12, apply Align Right horizontal alignment, and increase   the indent one time.

You want to copy the results to   another worksheet and display formulas on the duplicate worksheet.
Copy Sheet1, move the duplicate to the right of Sheet 1. Rename Sheet1 as September. Rename Sheet1 (2) as Formulas. Display formulas on the Formulas   tab.

To prepare the Formulas   worksheet to print, the column widths should be changed.
  Set column A width to 12 and C and D widths to 6. Set columns E, F, H, I, and J widths to 7. Set column G width to 5.

Because the worksheets contain   more columns than rows, it would look better in landscape orientation.
Select both worksheets and change the orientation to landscape.

You continue to apply Page Setup   options to prepare the worksheets to be printed, if needed.
With both sheets selected, set a 1-inch top margin and select the option to   horizontally center the data on the page. Select the scaling option to fit   data on each worksheet on one page.

It is important to provide   identification information in a header of the worksheets. In particular, the   textbook series name, the worksheet name, and the file name to help identify   the worksheet.
With both sheets selected, insert a header with the text Exploring   Series on the   left side, the sheet name code in the center, and the file name code on the   right side. Click the September sheet to make it active.

Excel Chapter 4 Hands-On Exercise – Toy Store

Project Description:
You work for the owner of Trinkets Toys & Games LLC. All merchandise is categorized into one of five departments for inventory records and sales. Along with the owner, there are three sales representatives. The sales system tracks which sales representative processed each transaction. The business has grown rapidly and you want to analyze the sales data to increase future profits. You downloaded June 2024 data from the sales system into an Excel workbook. Because the dataset is large, you will convert the data into a table, sort, filter, and utilize conditional formatting to complete your analysis.

Start Excel. Download and open   the file named Exp22_Excel_Ch04_HOE_ToyStore.xlsx.   Grader has automatically added your last name to the beginning of the   filename.

You would like to set page   breaks on the June Totals worksheet to allow the document to print without   splitting transactions dates.
Modify the existing page breaks to ensure the 6/13 and 6/24 transaction dates   print on the same page.

Create a copy of the June Totals   worksheet and name it June 1st Totals.

Return to the June Totals   worksheet. When printed you would like the titles to be preserved.
Set the titles in row 5 and columns A:B to repeat when printed. Additionally   set the print order to print over then down.

You would like to convert the   dataset to a table in order to add aggregation, structured references, and   table style.
Convert the range A5:K110 to a table. Be sure to include column labels. Name   the table Totals and apply the table style Light Yellow, Table Style Light 19.

You don’t need the Sales_First   column. To reduce the size of the dataset you will remove the column.
Delete the Sales_First column from the table.

You need to document the rebate   information and total purchase price. To do so you will add two new columns   to the data.
Type Rebate in cell K5 and   in cell L5.   Set the width of columns I:J to autofit.

You notice you are missing   records 2024-068 and 2024-105. You will manually add the records back to the   table.
Insert a row in the table at row 73 and row 112. Enter the following records.  Row 72 – 2024-068, 6/22/2024, Shah, Collectibles, 1014, Mattel,   Store Credit, Standard, 4, $16.99
  Row 112 – 2024-105, 6/30/2024, McGowan, Action Figures, 1015,   Mattel, Store Credit, Promotion, 1, $13.49

You notice there are duplicate   values in the table that need to be removed.
Remove all duplicate values from the Totals table.

To calculate rebate amount you   will create an IF function with structured references in column K.
Enter an IF statement in cell K6 to   determine the customers rebate. If the value in cell H6 = Promotion the   customer receives a 10% rebate on the total purchase (Purchase Price *   Quantity*Rebate) if they are not eligible the function should return 0. Be   sure to use the appropriate structured references and then use the fill   handle to copy the function down completing the column.

To calculate the total owed you   will create a formula in column L using structured references.
Enter a formula using structured references in cell L6 to calculate the total   owed. The total owed is the purchase price * quantity – rebate.

You would like to focus a portion   of the report on June sales.
Add a total row to the existing table and set the Rebate and Quantity   subtotals to Sum.

Sort the June Totals worksheet   by Pay_Type A to Z, then by Trans_Type A to Z, and Owed largest to smallest.   For the last level of the sort add a custom list for the department column.   The list should use the following order Electronics, Collectibles, Infants,   Action Figures, and Board Games.

Apply a filter to the table to   only display only electronics department sales from sales rep Radomanski.

Apply a filter to the table to   only display transaction amounts of $300 or more.

Apply a filter to the table to   only display transaction dates between 6/16/2024 and 6/30/2024.

You would like to use   conditional formatting to highlight several key performance indicators in the   June Individual worksheet.
Make the June Individual worksheet active. Create a new conditional   formatting rule to highlight the name Rodriguez in column C with Green Fill   with Dark Green Text.

Create a new conditional   formatting rule to highlight the top 3 sales amounts in column L with light   red fill and dark red text.

Add Blue Data Bars conditional   formatting to column K.

Create a conditional formatting   rule that highlights any transaction in column A that is completed by the   sales rep Rodriguez with a value over $500. Ensure the formatting applies   Bold font with Orange Accent 2 background color.

Filter column A based on color.

#Excel Chapter 7 Cumulative – Ultimate Hot Tubs

Project Description:
You are a data analyst for Ultimate Hot Tubs, which has locations in five states. You want to analyze sample sales data and create a map to indicate sales by state. In addition, you want to create a loan amortization template that can be used to show customers.
Steps to Perform:

Start Excel. Download and open   the file named Exp22_Excel_Ch07_Cum_HotTubs.xlsx.   Grader has automatically added your last name to the beginning of the   filename.

Your first task is to use date   functions to identify the day of the week each order was placed.
In cell D2, insert the WEEKDAY function to return the serial number   representing the weekday that the first hot tub was ordered (cell E2). Copy   the function to the range D3:D12.

The result of the WEEKDAY   function is a serial number. You will format it to display as a day of the   week and left-align the results.
Select the range D2:D12. Apply a custom number format dddd to display the actual weekday.   Apply Left horizontal alignment.

You want to calculate the number   of days between the order date and date the store received the hot tub.
In cell G2, insert the DAYS function to calculate the number of days between   the Date Ordered and Date Received for the first hot tub. Apply Center horizontal   alignment. Copy the function to the range G3:G12.

Next you will use logical   functions. First, you will use the SWITCH function to switch the codes PD and   CR for Paid in Full and Credit, respectively.
In cell C2, insert the SWITCH function to evaluate the first value in the   Code column. Switch PD for Paid in Full and switch CR for Credit. Use text strings for the last four function arguments. Copy the   function to the range C3:C12.

Now, you will issue a store   credit toward cleaning supplies if orders took over 45 or 70 days as a   goodwill gesture.
In cell I2, insert the IFS function. Evaluate if the Days for the first hot   tub order was greater than 70. If so, return $100. If the Days for the hot   tub was greater than 40, return $50. Otherwise, return $0. Use cell   references to the criteria thresholds and store credits located in the range   H15:I16. Use relative and mixed references correctly. Copy the function to   the range I3:I12.

Finally, you will create a   nested IF function that displays Send Gift Basket for customers who bought   either the Luxury or Serenity model and paid in full.
In cell J2, insert an IF function with a nested AND function with a nested OR   function. The function should display Send Gift Basket if these conditions are met:   (1) the model was either Luxury or Serenity and (2) the hot tab was Paid in Full. If the conditions are false,   use an empty text string “”. Use text within the arguments and   appropriate relative cell references. Copy the function to the range J3:J12.

Your assistant created a section   for summary statistics below the main dataset. You will calculate the average   number of days between the order and received dates.
In cell B15, insert the AVERAGEIF function to calculate the average number of   days for the Luxury model. Use mixed references to the range and criteria   range. Use a relative reference to cell A15 that contains the model name. Do   not type text as the criteria argument. Apply Number format with 0 decimal   places and apply Center horizontal alignment. Copy the function to the range   B16:B17 and preserve the existing border in cell B17.

In cell C15, insert the COUNTIF   function to calculate the quantity of each hot tub model. Use mixed   references for the range and a relative reference to the first model in cell   A15. Apply Center horizontal alignment. Copy the function to the range   C16:C17 and preserve the existing border in cell C17.

Now, you will identify the   highest price for the Luxury hot tub model.
In cell E15, insert the MAXIFS function to calculate the highest-price Luxury   model purchased on credit. Use mixed references to the range and criteria   range arguments. Use a relative reference to the model name in cell A15. Use   a mixed reference to the word Credit in cell E14.

Now, you will identify the   average price for the Serenity hot tub model.
Copy the function in cell E15 to cell E16 and preserve the existing border in   cell E16. Edit the function in cell E16 to calculate the average price of the   Serenity model purchased on credit. If you used correct mixed and relative   references in the original function, the only edit is to change the function   name to AVERAGEIFS.

Now, you are ready to enter the   last conditional formula.
Copy the function in cell E15 to cell E17 and preserve the existing border in   cell E17. Edit the function in cell E17 to calculate the lowest price of the   Bubbles model purchased on credit. If you used correct mixed and relative   references in the original function, the only edit is to change the function   name to MINIFS.

Your assistant created a list to   summarize the annual sales for the top five states. You will create a map to   visually depict the data.
Display the Map worksheet. Select the range A3:B8 and insert a map. Cut the   map and paste it in cell D1.

Change the map title to Annual Hot   Tub Sales and   apply Blue, Accent 5, Darker 50% font color to the chart title.

You will add the final touches   to the map.
Set 2.8″ height and 4.6″ width. Show all data labels.

Customers often want to see a   breakdown of loan payments. Your assistant started a loan amortization table   for you. Now, you are ready to complete it. First, you will calculate the   APR.
Display the Loan worksheet. In cell B3, insert the RATE function. Use the   cell references to the price, term, and monthly payment. Multiple the result   by 12 using a cell reference to calculate the APR. Make sure the function   returns a positive value.

Next, you want to enter the due   dates.
In cell A8, insert the EDATE function to return the next month’s payment due   date. Copy the function to the range A9:A18.

Now, you want to format the   results of the EDATE function.
Select the range A8:A18. Apply the Short Date number format, Align Right   horizontal alignment, and indent once.

In cell E1, insert the CUMIPMT   function to calculate the cumulative interest. Use cell references to   calculate the periodic rate, nper, present value (price) starting period, and   ending period. Make sure the function returns a positive value.

In cell E2, insert the CUMPRINC   function to calculate the cumulative principal through the sixth month   payment. Use cell references for all arguments. Make sure the function   returns a positive value.

You are ready to enter a formula   to calculate interest payments.
In cell C7, insert the IPMT function to calculate the first month’s interest   payment. Use relative and mixed cell references correctly. Copy the function   to the range C8:C18.

Now, you are ready to insert a   function to calculate principal payment.
In cell D7, insert the PPMT function to calculate the first month’s   principal. Use relative and mixed cell references correctly. Copy the   function to the range D8:D18.

The last column will display the   remaining balance after each payment.
In cell E7, insert a formula to calculate the remaining balance by   subtracting the first principal repayment from the original price. Insert a   formula in cell E8 to calculate the remaining balance by subtracting the   second principal repayment from the first month’s remaining balance. Copy the   formula to the range E9:E18.

Format the range C7:E18 with   Accounting Number Format.

Save and close Exp22_Excel_Ch07_Cum_HotTubs.xlsx. Exit   Excel. Submit the file as directed.

Exp22 Excel Ch03 ML1 Airports
Excel Chapter 3 Mid-Level 1 – Airport Passenger Counts

Project Description:
As an analyst for the airline industry, you track the number of passengers at the top six major U.S. airports: Atlanta (ATL), Chicago (ORD), Los Angeles (LAX), Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), Denver (DEN), and New York (JFK). You researched passenger data and created a worksheet that lists the number of total yearly passengers. You will create a clustered column chart to compare the number of passengers at each airport. Then, you will create a line chart that compares trends over time. Next, you will create a bar chart to compare the passenger count for the latest year of data available and emphasize the airport with the largest number of passenger traffic. Finally, you will insert sparklines to visually represent trends in passengers at each airport over the ten-year period.

Start Excel. Download and open   the file named Exp22_Excel_Ch03_ML1_Airports.xlsx.   Grader has automatically added your last name to the beginning of the   filename.

You want to create a clustered   column chart to depict the passenger counts at the six airports over several   years.
Create a clustered column chart for the range A4:L10. Cut the chart and paste   it in cell A15.

You want to customize the column   chart with a chart title, display the years as a data series, enlarge the   chart to be easier to read, and apply a chart style.
•Type Passengers   Counts at Top U.S. Airports as the chart title.  •Swap the data on the category axis and in the legend.  •Set a 3.5″ height and 11.4″ width.  •Apply the Style 7 chart style.

The value axis takes up a lot of   space for the numbers. You will adjust the value axis to simplify it.
•Change the display units to Millions for the value axis.  •Edit the axis title to display Millions of Passengers.

You want to focus on the 2019 data   series by adding data labels.
Display data labels above the columns (Outside End position) for the 2019   data series only.

Applying a fill color to the   chart area will make the chart visually appealing.
Apply the Light Gradient – Accent 1 gradient fill to the chart area.

A best practice is to add Alt   Text to a chart for accessibility compliance.
Add Alt Text: The column chart displays the number of passengers. (including the period).

You want to create a bar chart   to display passenger counts for only one year.
Create a clustered bar chart for the range A5:A10 and L5:L10 and move the   chart to a chart sheet named Bar Chart.

You want to customize the bar   chart.
•Change the chart color to Monochromatic Palette 5.  •Enter Passengers   at Top 6 U.S. Airports in 2019 as the chart title.  •Apply the Style 5 chart style.  •Add Alt Text: Atlanta had the most passengers. (including the period).

Modifying the axes will improve   readability of the bar chart.
•Change the font size to 10 for the category axis and value axis.  •Change the value axis Maximum Bound to 1.1E8.

You will format a data point so   that it stands out and then add gridlines to enhance readability in the bar   chart.
•Format the Atlanta data point with Dark Blue fill color.  •Add Primary Minor Vertical gridlines.

A line chart effectively shows   trends over time for the passenger counts at the different airports.
Create a line chart using the range A4:L10 in the Passenger worksheet and   move the chart to a chart sheet named Line Chart. Add a chart title Passengers   at U.S. Airports   and bold the title.

You want to customize the line   chart.
•Set the Minimum Bound to 4.0E7 for the value axis and set the Maximum Bound to 1.1E8.  •Set the Vertical (Value) Axis Display units to Millions. Delete the Vertical   (Value) Axis Display Units Label from the upper-left corner of the chart. Add   a value axis title In Millions.  •Change the font size to 10 for the value axis and category axis.  •Move the legend to the top.  •Open the Select Data source dialog box and deselect the check boxes for the   even-numbered years. (On a Mac, change the Chart data range by selecting   these ranges: A4:B10,D4:D10,F4:F10,H4:H10,J4:J10,L4:L10 since the dialog box   does not contain check boxes to deselect the years.)  •Add Alt Text: The line chart displays trends for top six U.S.   airports.   (including the period).

Sparklines provide a simple   visualization to represent data in a worksheet.
Display the Passenger worksheet and insert Line sparklines in the range   M5:M10 to illustrate the data in the range B5:L10.

You want to customize the   sparklines to point out high and low points.
•Show the high and low points in each sparkline.  •Apply Black, Text 1 color to the high point marker in each sparkline.

Set page formats for the   Passenger worksheet.
Select Legal paper size, select Landscape orientation, set 0.3″ left and right margins, and   scale to fit 1 page.

Save and close Exp22_Excel_Ch03_ML1_Airports.xlsx.   Exit Excel. Submit the file as directed.

PROVIDE ALL FORMS AND EXPLANATIONS REQUESTED.  1) Form 1040 2) Form 1040 Schedule A 3) Form 1040 Schedule B 4) Form 1040 Schedule C 5) Form 1040 Schedule D 6) Form 1040 Schedule SE 7) Form 8949 8) Form 4562 Carrie A. Morgan, age 45, is single and lives with her dependent mother atXXXXX Allentown, PA 18105. Her social security number isNNN-NN-NNNN 1. Carrie is a licensed hairstylist and operates her own business. Located atXXXXX Allentown, PA 18105, the business is conducted under the name of “Carrie’s Coiffures.” Carrie’s business activity code is 812112. In addition to 10 workstations (i.e., stylist chairs) and a small reception area, the shop has display and storage areas for the products Carrie sells (see item 2 below). During the year, Carrie leased nine of the stations to other hairstylists. As is common practice in similar businesses in the area, the other stylists are considered to be self-employed. In fact, the IRS sanctioned the self-employment classification for the stylists in an audit of one of Carrie’s prior tax returns. Each stylist pays Carrie a fixed rent for the use of a workstation, resulting in $68,000 of rents received during 2012. From her own station, Carrie earned $44,000 (including tips of $12,000) for the styling services she provided to her own clients. 2. Carrie’s Coiffures is the local distributor for several beauty products (e.g., conditioners, shampoos) that cannot be purchased anywhere else. Carrie buys these items from the manufacturers and sells them to regular patrons, walk-in customers, and other beauticians (including those who lease chairs from her). Carrie’s Coiffures is also known for the selection and quality of its hairpieces (i.e., wigs, toupees). Through the shop, Carrie made the following sales during the year: Hairpieces and wigs $69,000 Beauty products 48,000 3. Although Carrie operates her business on a cash basis, she maintains inventory accounts for the items she sells as required by law. Relevant information about the inventories (based on lower of cost or market) is summarized below. 4. 12/31/11 12/31/12 Hairpieces and wigs $10,700 $12,600 Beauty products 11,400 9,900 5. Carrie’s purchases for 2012 were $30,500 of hairpieces and wigs and $26,100 of beauty products. 6. Carrie’s Coiffures had the following operating expenses for 2012: Utilities (i.e., gas, electric, telephone) $12,900 Ad valorem property taxes: On realty (e.g., shop building and land) $4,200 On personalty (e.g., equipment, inventory) 1,800 6,000 Styling supplies (e.g., rinses, dyes, gels, hair spray) 5,700 Fire and casualty insurance 4,100 Liability insurance 4,000 Accounting services 3,800 Janitorial services 2,400 Sewer service, garbage pickup $ 2,300 Water 2,200 Occupation licenses (city and state) 1,500 Waiting room supplies (e.g., magazines, coffee) 1,300 7. As Carrie prefers to avoid employer-employee arrangements and the payroll tax complexities, she retains outside agencies to handle her accounting and janitorial needs. 8. In early 2012, Carrie decided to renovate the waiting room. On May 10, she spent $10,400 for new chairs, a sofa, various lamps, coffee bar, and other furnishings. Carrie follows a policy of claiming as much depreciation as soon as possible. The old furnishings were thrown away or given to customers. For tax purposes, the old furnishings had a zero basis. 9. Carrie’s Coiffures is located in a building Carrie had constructed atXXXXXin March 1998. The shop was built for a cost of $300,000 on a lot she purchased earlier for $35,000. Except for a down payment from savings, the cost was financed by a 20- year mortgage. For tax purposes, MACRS depreciation is claimed on the building. During 2012, the following expenses were attributable to the property: Repainting (both exterior and interior) $8,000 Repairs (plumbing and electrical) 1,900 10. In May (after her accident settlement discussed in item 11 below), Carrie paid the balance due on the business mortgage. To do so, she incurred a prepayment penalty of $4,400. Prior to paying it off, she paid regular interest on the mortgage in 2012 of $6,000. 11. In February 2012, Carrie’s Coiffures was cited by the city for improper disposal of certain waste chemicals. Carrie questioned the propriety of the proposed fine of $2,000 and retained an attorney to represent her at the hearing. By pleading nolo contendere, the attorney was able to get the fine reduced to $500. Carrie paid both the fine of $500 and the attorney’s fee of $600 in 2012.
12. In August 2012, Carrie saw an ad in a trade publication that attracted her attention. The owner of a well-respected styling salon in Reading (PA) had died, and his estate was offering the business for sale. Carrie traveled to Reading, spent several days looking over the business ((including books and financial results), and met with theexecutor. Carried treated the executor to dinner and a music concert. Immediately afterthe concert, Carrie made an offer for the business, but the executor rejected it. Herexpenses in connection with this trip were as follows:
Car rental $140Entertainment of executor 280Motel (August 6-7) 220Meals 110
13. In March 2011, Joan Myers, one of Carrie’s best stylists, left town to get away from atroublesome ex-husband. In order to help Joan establish a business elsewhere, Carrieloaned her $7,000. Joan signed a note dated March 3, 2011, that was payable in oneyear with 6% interest. On December 30, 2012, Carrie learned that Joan had declaredbankruptcy and was awaiting trial on felony theft charges. Carrie never receivedpayment from Joan, nor did she receive any interest on the loan.
14. At Christmas, Carrie gave each of her 35 best customers a large bottle of body lotion. Each bottle had a wholesale cost to Carrie of $12 but a retail price of $24. Carrie alsospent $3 to have each bottle gift wrapped. (Note: The lotion was special ordermerchandise and was not part of the business’s inventory or purchases for the year—see item 2 above.) She also gave each of the nine stylists who leased chairs from her abasket of fruit that cost $30 (not including $5 delivery cost).
15. In March 2012, the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue audited Carrie’s state incometax returns for 2009 and 2010. She was assessed additional state income tax of $340for these years. Surprisingly, no interest was included in the assessment. Carrie paidthe back taxes promptly.
16. On a morning walk in November 2011, Carrie was injured when she was sideswiped bya delivery truck. Carrie was hospitalized for several days, and the driver of the truckwas ticketed and charged with DUI. The owner of the truck, a national parcel deliveryservice, was concerned that further adverse publicity might result if the matter went tocourt. Consequently, the owner offered Carrie a settlement if she would sign a release.Under the settlement, her medical expenses were paid and she would receive a cashaward of $200,000. The award specified that the entire amount was for physical painand suffering. Because she suffered no permanent injury as a result of the mishap, shesigned the release in April 2012 and received the $200,000 settlement.
17. In January 2012, Carrie was contacted by the state of Pennsylvania regarding a tract ofland she owned in York County. The state intended to convert the property into adistrict headquarters, barracks, and training center for its highway patrol. Carrie hadinherited the property from her father when he died on August 11, 2011. The propertyhad a value of $140,000 on that date and had been purchased by her father on March3, 1980, for $30,000. On July 25, 2012, after considerable negotiation and after thestate threatened to initiate condemnation proceedings, she sold the tract to the statefor $158,000. Since Carrie is not comfortable with real estate investments, she does notplan to reinvest any of the proceeds received in another piece of realty.
18. When her father died in 2011, Carrie did not know that he had an insurance policy onhis life (maturity value of $50,000) in which she was named as the beneficiary. Whenher mother told her about the policy in July 2012, Carrie filed a claim with the carrier,Falcon Life Insurance Company.
