My personal philosophy of teaching appreciates the role of active participation of students and the role they play in their education. Therefore, introducing student empowerment in the nursing curricula ensures that students work together with educators in finding solutions to nursing problems. Besides, student empowerment promotes critical thinking and positive clinical judgment in their nursing career. It is important to nurture students and treat them in a way that creates enthusiasm in them for lifelong learning. The teaching-learning process needs to be flexible and give students an opportunity to think critically and learn new information in line with their interests and for the purposes of professional development (Mthiyane Habedi, 2018).In addition, since students are from different backgrounds, the learning environment should promote diversity and the freedom for students to express their ideas. I believe that having a positive learning environment supports lifelong learning.
