Handbook | Psychology homework help

Learning and Cognition Handbook
The primary goal of the Learning and Cognition Handbook is to integrate concepts from the discipline of learning and cognitive psychology into a usable and professional guide that is designed for a specified audience which will be designated based on students’ current or future career goals. Students will choose one of five assigned constructs and focus their handbook on this specific area of learning and cognition. Skills and information learned throughout the course will be applied in the design and creation of this handbook. Findings from required sources, including those from the text and individual peer-reviewed articles, will be incorporated into the handbook; however, these findings will not constitute the total information for each of the sub-constructs addressed within the project. Students should include the relevant sources they researched in the Week Two Discipline-Based Literature Review as well as those from the Week Three Assignment. The purpose of the handbook is to share helpful strategies, apply the chosen construct to seven sub-constructs in the field, and present a holistic guide for others that can be used in the discipline.
To complete this assignment, students may utilize the Learning and Cognition Handbook template or create their own using the template as a guide. Each section of the handbook should be written in the student’s own words with use of limited paraphrased material cited according to APA standards as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. Each section of the handbook should include a minimum of one visual (e.g., table, figure, or image) with a maximum of five visuals per section. Each image must be retrieved and cited based on current copyright laws. Students may wish to use the Where to Get Free Images guide for assistance with accessing freely available public domain and/or Creative Commons licensed images.
The following constructs will be the subject content options for this handbook and will be chosen based on an evaluative literature review in Week Two and students’ future career goals:

The Neurosciences:  A Look at Our Brains
Socio-Cognition: Social Interactions in Learning
Learning and Literacy: Reading, Writing, and Language Development
Diversity and Culture: The Effects to Learning
Connectionism and Learning: A Web of Development

The sections listed below must be used within the paper to delineate the sections of content.
Table of ContentsIn this section, students will list all sections and subsections included in the handbook with the applicable page numbers.
PrefaceIn this section, students will provide a 100- to 150-word overview of the handbook and its potential use by the chosen audience.
Introduction to Chosen ConstructIn this section, students will provide a 200- to 300-word introductory summary of the chosen construct and discuss any careers in psychology specifically related to this construct. Beginning with the work completed in Week One, students will include the language from their personal epistemology (revised based on instructor feedback and the further development of their ideas and beliefs throughout the course and the program thus far).
Chosen ConstructIn this section, students will provide information that communicates how and why the chosen construct of learning and cognition affects the following sub-constructs through synthesizing the learning principles and/or theories. For each of the sub-constructs, students will apply basic research methods and skeptical inquiry to explain the theoretical perspectives and empirical findings that substantiate the relationship between the construct and the sub-constructs. Although creative liberties are encouraged, all information incorporated should be supported and professionally presented through the consistent application of ethical principles and adherence to professional standards of learning and cognition psychology as applied to the chosen audience.
Sub-ConstructsInformation for each sub-construct will be presented in 500 to 700 words.

Comprehension
Problem Solving
Memory Development/Retention
Lifelong Learning
Domains and Domain Learning
Affective Outcomes of Emotion
Effects of Demographic Differences (e.g., gender, socioeconomics, religious affiliation, race)

ConclusionIn this section, students will provide a 200- to 300-word summarization of the handbook in which they describe the importance of the chosen construct and assigned sub-constructs within the learning and cognition domain and their applicability within the psychology profession for the chosen audience.
Attention Students: The Masters of Arts in Psychology program is utilizing the Pathbrite portfolio tool as a repository for student scholarly work in the form of signature assignments completed within the program. After receiving feedback for this Learning and Cognition Handbook, please implement any changes recommended by the instructor, go to Pathbrite and upload the revised Learning and Cognition Handbook to the portfolio. (Use the Pathbrite Quick-Start Guide to create an account if you do not already have one.) The upload of signature assignments will take place after completing each course. Be certain to upload revised signature assignments throughout the program as the portfolio and its contents will be used in other courses and may be used by individual students as a professional resource tool. See the Pathbrite website for information and further instructions on using this portfolio tool.

racial and criminal profiling individual project

Part I
The Uniform Crime Reports page on the FBI Web site provides links for its annual Crime in the United States publications. Before you are able to view one of these reports, you are given the following disclaimer:
Caution Against RankingEach year when Crime in the United States is published, some entities use reported figures to compile rankings of cities and counties. These rough rankings provide no insight into the numerous variables that mold crime in a particular town, city, county, state, or region. Consequently, they lead to simplistic and/or incomplete analyses that often create misleading perceptions adversely affecting communities and their residents. Valid assessments are possible only with careful study and analysis of the range of unique conditions affecting each local law enforcement jurisdiction. The data user is, therefore, cautioned against comparing statistical data of individual reporting units from cities, metropolitan areas, states, or colleges or universities solely on the basis of their population coverage or student enrollment.
Discuss the following:

Why do you think this cautionary notice is given before users are directed to the FBIs Crime in the United States publication? Expand on your viewpoint, and find credible sources to support your rationale.

Click here if you would like to visit the Web site.
Part II
Open the Hate Crime Data Collection Guidelines and Training Manual, scroll down to page 4, and review the Table of Contents. Specifically, look at hate crimes and the different classifications of bias. Using the Table of Contents, complete the following:

Define and describe the following terms:

Bias
Race bias
Ethnicity bias
Religious bias
Bias motivation
The nature of a hate crime
Bias motivation by category and type
Legislative mandate to report hate crime

Point out the distinction between institutional prejudice and personal prejudice.
Explain ways in which stereotypes can influence memory and perceptions of events.
What are common stereotypes of the specific minority groups explained in the training guide? How may one differentiate those stereotypes from accurate descriptions of the minority groups?
Identify the principal psychological motivations underlying prejudice.

Part III
Based on the information you obtained in Parts I and II, do you think there could be racial or ethnic discrimination in arrests? Does cultural diversity have an impact on law enforcement practice? Provide evidence to support your answer, accompanied by proper citations in APA format.

Business leadership | Business Finance homework help

Assignment 2: Required Assignment 1—The Leader as a Strategist Report
For this assignment, you will choose an organization to analyze. This organization can be one you are personally familiar with, or one you have observed to be an effective organization, You now become a newly appointed senior leader in that organization.
As a new leader, you must prepare a report for the CEO that assesses the organization’s overall alignment between its vision, mission, values, and strategy. This report should consist of the following sections:

An analysis of the strategic cascade of the organization This includes assessing the organization’s strategy and market position. Use the framework implied in Michael Porter’s (1997) article “What is Strategy.” When describing the business strategy of your organization, consider the following questions:

What is the target market (target customer)?
What is your organizations value proposition (How does it deliver value that satisfies the target’s wants and needs?)?
How is your product or service positioned in the market (What specific features and attributes define the product/service and how is its value reflected in its pricing, distribution, marketing communications, etc.?)?
How is your organization sustainably different from your competitors (What is the source of uniqueness and how sustainable is it from being diminished by competitors?)?

A strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis A SWOT analysis is a strategy planning tool that examines both internal and external environments for factors and trends that should shape planning and operations over the next five years. Environmental factors internal to the company are classified as strengths (to be leveraged) or weaknesses (to be mitigated), while external factors are classified as either opportunities (to be pursued) or threats (to be monitored and responded to).
Some primer questions for the SWOT analysis include the following:Strengths

What advantages does your organization have?
What do you do better than anyone else?
What unique or lowest-cost resources can you draw upon that others cannot?
What do people in your market see as your strengths?
What factors mean that you get the sale?
What is your organizations unique selling proposition (USP)?

Weaknesses

What aspects of your product or service could you improve?
What market segments or competitive areas should you avoid?
What are people in your market likely to see as weaknesses?
What factors can make you lose sales?

Opportunities
Threats

What obstacles do you face?
What are your competitors doing?
Are quality standards or specifications for your job, products, or services changing?
Is changing technology threatening your position?
Do you have bad debt or cash-flow problems?
Could any of your weaknesses seriously threaten your business?

A summary of the internal environment, including the organization’s values and the key elements of the organization architecture that influence worker behavior.
Include the following characteristics when analyzing the internal environment:

Structure: This includes the ways the organization assigns formal roles and responsibilities, decision-making authority, expertise and skills, and work tasks. Think of the organization chart and how its implied structure directs the decision making, resource allocation, and workflow of the organization. Is it consistent with the strategy?
Systems: This comprises the information flows that coordinate activities between groups and across the organization structure while helping direct worker behavior, including performance management, financial management, operating, forecasting and planning, and other regulating mechanisms. How do these systems help align workers and their actions with the strategy?
Culture: This consists of the unwritten rules and norms that govern worker behavior and help coordinate the activities across structural boundaries. Is the organization culture an enabler or impediment to the corporate strategy? What specific behaviors embedded in the culture support the strategy? What specific behaviors block the strategy?

A synthesis of the information evaluating the ability of the organization to implement the strategy using Kouzes and Posner’s Five Practices (for example, modeling the way) as a framework.
Include answers to the following:

Company Culture

Describe the values and culture of your organization.
What are the values of your organization?
How are they reflected in the behaviors you see at work?

Employee Behaviors

Describe the behaviors in your organization.
Are these behaviors consistent with the business strategy?
Where do they conflict with the strategy?
What new behaviors are required to align with the strategy?

Leadership

How might you and other leaders create new behaviors to support the strategy?
What specific actions would you implement to communicate, motivate, model the way, coach, inspire the vision, challenge the process, and encourage the heart?

Your response to each part of the assignment should be approximately three pages.
Write a 10–12-page paper in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M3_A2.doc.
By Wednesday, September 18, 2013, deliver your assignment to the M3: Assignment 2 Dropbox.

Quanitative methods and analysis | Human Resource Management homework help

In each of the assignments in this course, you will be dealing with the following scenario: American Intellectual Union (AIU) has assembled a team of researchers in the United States and around the world to study job satisfaction. Congratulations, you have been selected to participate in this massive global undertaking.
The study will require that you examine data, analyze the results, and share the results with groups of other researchers. Job satisfaction is important to companies large and small, and understanding it provides managers with insights into human behavior that can be used to strengthen the companys bottom line.
The data set for the study is a sample of a survey conducted on the population of the American Intellectual Union (AIU). This sessions unique data set may be found in the LEARNING MATERIALS and it contains the following nine sections of data that will be used throughout our course:

Gender
Age
Department
Position
Tenure
Overall Job Satisfaction
Intrinsic Job Satisfaction—Satisfaction with the actual performance of the job
Extrinsic Job Satisfaction—external to the job, for example, office location, your work colleagues, your own office (cubicle/hard walled office, etc),
Benefits—Health insurance, pension plan, vacation, sick days, etc.

In the first assignment you are to complete the following:

You will need to examine two of the nine sections of data:

one section of qualitative data (choose either Gender or Position)
one section of quantitative data (choose either Intrinsic or Extrinsic)

Each section should include all data points listed in the column for the variable. The requirements include:

Identify the data you selected.
Explain why the data was selected.
Explain what was learned by examining these sets of data.
Your analysis should include using Microsoft Excel to obtain information about the data through the use of three measures of central tendency (mean, median, mode).
Your analysis should also include the use of two measures of variability (standard deviation and variance). Some measures are appropriate for qualitative data, and some are appropriate for quantitative data.
If a measure is not applicable, then explain why.
You will have to also provide one chart/graph for each of the results of the two processed sections of data (2 total), such as a pie or bar chart or a histogram. (A table is not a chart/graph.) Ensure that you label the chart/graph clearly.
You will then need to discuss what you additionally learned from the results of this process.
Explain why charts/graphs are important in conveying information in a visual format and why standard deviation and variation are important.
