What is deep learning? What can deep learning do that traditional machine-learning methods cannot?

Chapter: 6

  1. What is deep learning? What can deep learning do that traditional machine-learning methods cannot?
  2. List and briefly explain different learning paradigms/methods in AI.
  3. What is representation learning, and how does it relate to machine learning and deep learning?
  4. List and briefly describe the most commonly used ANN activation functions.
  5. What is MLP, and how does it work? Explain the function of summation and activation weights in MLP-type ANN.
  6. Cognitive computing has become a popular term to define and characterize the extent of the ability of machines/computers to show “intelligent” behavior. Thanks to IBM Watson and its success on Jeopardy!, cognitive computing and cognitive analytics are now part of many real-world intelligent systems. In this exercise, identify at least three application cases where cognitive computing was used to solve complex real-world problems. Summarize your findings in a professionally organized report.

When submitting work, be sure to include an APA 7 cover page and include at least two APA formatted references (and APA in-text citations) to support the work this week.
All work must be original (not copied from any source). Create a one MS word Document for all

What is an artificial neural network and for what types of problems can it be used?
  1. What is an artificial neural network and for what types of problems can it be used?
  2. Compare artificial and biological neural networks. What aspects of biological networks are not mimicked by artificial ones? What aspects are similar?
  3. What are the most common ANN architectures? For what types of problems can they be used?
  4. ANN can be used for both supervised and unsupervised learning. Explain how they learn in a supervised mode and in an unsupervised mode.
  5. Go to Google Scholar (scholar.google.com). Conduct a search to find two papers written in the last five years that compare and contrast multiple machine-learning methods for a given problem domain. Observe commonalities and differences among their findings and prepare a report to summarize your understanding.
  6. Go to neuroshell.com. Look at Gee Whiz examples. Comment on the feasibility of achieving the results claimed by the developers of this neural network model.
How many questions will you have at each level for your standard?

Assignment 3

Standard RL 6.4 Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including figurative and connotative meanings; analyze the impact of a specific word choice on meaning and tone.

Summative Test Blueprint (*This assignment must be approved by your professor before you can submit your summative assessment next week, so be sure to plan accordingly.) Now that you have practiced writing questions at various levels of rigor, create a blueprint (table) of how you will construct your summative test for your unit. Refer back to your reading from Week 1. You must have three levels of rigor. How many questions will you have at each level for your standard? This should be a good representation of each level. Level 1 questions should NOT be the majority of your test – keep the total under 1/3 of the total questions. Remember, you are not yet creating your questions. You are developing a plan as to how many questions you will have at each depth of knowledge. Your test should contain a minimum of 25 questions and should focus on higher-level questions.

Identify the behaviors (if any) that you believe violate standards in the Educator Code of Ethics.

SCENARIO 1: Immediately after she graduated college, Coach Parnell began coaching volleyball, track, and soccer and teaching Algebra I and II at Deer Springs High School. She has been there for almost 3 years. In early May, Coach Parnell joined a dating app that locates singles in the area. Not long after joining, a 19-year-old senior at Deer Springs HS, saw Coach Parnell’s dating profile and indicated, via the app, that he would be interested in going out on a date with her. When she saw this, Coach Parnell, sent the student a message stating that, even though he was 19, she could not date him until after graduation in less than a month. The student responded, letting her know that he couldn’t wait take her out on a date, and the two decided to set up a time to meet for dinner the day after graduation ceremonies. Coach Parnell let the student know that there could be no further communication between the two of them until then, and that he couldn’t tell anyone about the conversation they’d had so far. She let him know that she was excited to be able to go out with him, but she could not pursue anything further until the date they had set up. This student had never been in Coach Parnell’s Algebra class, nor had he played any of the sports that she coached. As planned, the day after graduation, Coach Parnell and the now former Deer Springs High School student went out on a date and continued to see each other for the next 8 months. 1. Identify the behaviors (if any) that you believe violate standards in the Educator Code of Ethics. 2. Which standards do you think were violated? Explain your reasoning. If you feel that no standards were violated, explain your reasoning. 3. Should Coach Parnell have handled this situation differently so as not to violate the Code of Ethics, or (if you feel that there was no violation) to avoid their actions being called into question?

How does Concentric Zone Theory apply to your selected city?

Concentric Zone Theory

Park and Burgess used Concentric Zone Theory to break up the city of Chicago into five zones. They used the theory to explain why crime occurs in each zone. Although this was created and applied to the city of Chicago, in this assignment, you will apply this theory to your city (you can use your city or a neighboring city).

Create a presentation of 5 to 7 slides in Microsoft PowerPoint and address the following:

Where is the crime occurring in your selected city? Include specific examples using crime mapping of your selected city, characteristics of housing within each zone, and types of crimes occurring.

How would you aim at reducing these incidents of crime? Include information and specific recommendations.

How does Concentric Zone Theory apply to your selected city?

Explain the purpose for the educational organization.

In Week 6, you selected a scenario and formulated goals that could be used as part of a strategic plan. In this assignment, as an educational leader, you are to create a strategic plan that provides stakeholders with information about what you want the school or organization to achieve and the process by which it plans to get there. The plan will inform stakeholders of:

· The name and purpose of the selected school or organization.

· The strategic plan goals.

· The key initiatives.

· The actions to achieve the selected goals.

· The necessary resources for implementation.

· How the plan can improve student achievement, retain great teachers or faculty, and enhance leadership

Create a 5–7-page strategic plan in which you:

1. Explain the purpose for the educational organization.

2. Evaluate the key initiatives of the strategic plan.

3. Develop three actions to be taken during the implementation phase, including any necessary resources, and how they will achieve the plan’s goals.

4. Evaluate the effectiveness of the strategic plan, including how it will improve student achievement, retain teachers or faculty, and enhance leadership.

5. Use six sources to support your writing. Choose sources that are credible, relevant, and appropriate. Cite each source listed on your source page at least one time within your assignment. For help with research, writing, and citation, access the  library  or review  library guides , the  Education Database , or the  Master of Education library guide .
