Identify a population that is eligible to receive Medicaid benefits, and describe why they are eligible.

The Medicaid program has gone through several amendments and expansions since its inception in the 1960s, most notably with the Affordable Care Act (2010). However, its purpose remains essentially the same: to assist people with low income in gaining access to necessary health services. Because the federal program is administered by each state, Medicaid looks different across the country. What are the requirements and procedures for your state?
In this Discussion, you research your own state’s Medicaid policy and consider its effect on a certain population. Make sure to access the Medicaid.gov website, in the Learning Resources, to conduct your research.

Hello Professor and class the favorite tool that I have studied in this course would be the six-sigma program. Six Sigma is a set of tools and techniques that are designed to improve business processes which will result in a better product or service. What I like most about the program is that it helps  improve the customer experience, by eliminating defeats in the process. I like how the program  breaks down the different assets and gives you steps on how to go about fixing it. Six Sigma is broken down into DMAIC which means define, measure, analysis, improvement, and control. I plan to use the six sigma program to help increase our customer service. I want to use the tool to maximize the benefits for customers. When I took over this new position I quickly learned that they are not up to date with taking care of the customers. They are just for getting the job done and not caring. I want to install the value of the needs of their customers and the drivers of sales. If I am able to get this the working I would be able to show the customers that they are important and we need them just like they need us. I want our customers to feel like they are valued, and not have the attitude where will feel we can just get new customers. This course has shown me different ways that I can use to help me implement the goals that I want to achieve. It has shown me what actions should be taken when I am trying to enforce something. When I am working on different things, I keep what Mr. Jack said in mind. “Why do we need innovation? Why do we need continuous improvement? There’s very little room for the status quo in any company because your competitors are about three hours from a product to nail you.” (Jack Welch)

RE: Week 10 DiscussionCOLLAPSE
Hello Class,
What are your favorite tools that you studied in this course?  What do you like most about them?  When answering this questions, consider: Ease of implementation, application to your particular organization, receptivity by your colleagues, etc.
I would have to say, Value Stream Mapping, as I found myself reverting back to the value stream map throughout this course to aide me in my discussion and assignment submissions.  I appreciate that it gives a visual of the process, which in my opinion, caters to a wider audience.  In my organization, I understand that people have their own ways of collaborating, communicating and understanding.  From my experience, the majority of key stakeholders are very receptive to visuals because help connect the dots and provide even further clarification.  Value Stream Maps are also easy to implement in my organization because we collaborate quite frequently across multiple organizations and we generally request a perspective of their respective end to end experience.  It would be more efficient and very eye opening to create an initial value stream map and have each organization build on that value stream map to develop one single birds eye view for us to evaluate.
How have you applied, or how will you apply, these tools?  If applicable, what results were achieved?
We’re always looking ways to improve processes.  While I created my first value stream map in this class, I have grown a profound appreciation for the tool.  I have not achieved any results yet, as I have not formally introduced or applied the tool at work, however, my VSM on improving the pre-order iconic device process has given me new insight into additional gaps in the process that I will be sharing on the next project call.  As we look into planning our 2023 action plan, I will leverage the VSM tool to map out each process along the way to plan our mitigation tactics.
What impact has this course had on your professional performance?
I have a great deal of operations experience so I initially thought this class was going to serve as a great refresher, however, this course helped me understand LEAN and SIX SIGMA more thoroughly and the importance of Design thinking.  We have shifted our operations from your typical project management style to a more agile workplace so I was surprised and relieved that we were able to apply and leverage some of the tools and resources to our discussions and assignments, giving us that first-hand experience.

What types of technology could you suggest incorporating in the classroom to engage, motivate, and support these students?

There are many ways to teach science and health content. By having a toolbelt full of innovative teaching methods, teachers can keep students engaged in the content and best meet their individual needs as learners. Engagement helps with student attention to the topic as well as helping to create more meaningful learning experiences.
Part 1: Choosing Activities
Choose either science or health as a subject area. Determine a topic and state standard(s) for either third grade science or health. Write at least one learning objective aligned to the chosen standard. Using the “Class Profile-3rd Grade,” complete the “Science or Health Choice Matrix” template with a minimum of four different activity options that would provide students the opportunity to demonstrate their learning on the topic. Remember to think about different learning styles, grouping techniques, different ability levels, and possible interests of the students.
Part 2: Collaboration
From the Class Profile, select three students with an IEP, 504, or another needed accommodation/modification. At the bottom of your choice matrix, summarize in 250-500-words the collaboration necessary to encourage the students’ motivation, engagement, and ownership of learning. Include the following:

Who would you need to collaborate with?
How will that collaboration be conducted (email, phone, in person)?
What will you ask, speak about, or suggest during your collaboration?
What types of technology could you suggest incorporating in the classroom to engage, motivate, and support these students?

Why would a manufacturing company with multiple production departments still prefer to use a single plantwide overhead rate?

“1.) The reason as to why management would be concerned about product cost accuracy is because the overall accuracy of a product’s cost is important for more informed decision-making, general financial stability, and comprehensive business success. Management needs this kind of information to make overall strategic and operational decisions that can affect a business’s profitability, competitiveness, and long-term sustainability. What I am trying to say that there are a lot of factors that management should be concerned about, mainly their overall budgeting as this is the catalyst for all other allocations are to be derived from.

2.) As to why a manufacturing company with multiple production departments would still prefer the Single Plantwide Rate Method mainly because of its simplicity, the ability to save on certain costs, and general convenience, especially when a business’s production departments have similar patterns and overall consistency in their overhead costs. However, it is equally important to note that this method may lack precision in the cost allocation process. So, while this kind of method can be good in simplification, it is because of this that it may not be used by everyone.

3.) The primary way that Multiple Production Department and Single Plantwide Factory Overhead Rate Methods are different is how they allocate their Overhead costs. A Single Plantwide Method relies more on less accurate allocation as it only uses one single rate for its entire factory, thus simplifying allocation costs altogether. Whereas the Multiple Production Department Method is more complex and precise with its allocation as the given allocation depends on various factors like specific department characteristics and so on. Thus, there is a separate rate per department.

4.) It is vital to build strong bonds with your Department Managers if you were an Account Manager simply because it allows us as the Account Manager to understand a Department Manager’s needs, leading to a fostering of trust and general communication, which then, in turn, allows us to gain their overall support, thus ultimately driving a business towards success because of the enhanced collaboration and the overall competitiveness of the organization. Eventually, it makes our job remotely easier because it becomes easier to identify specific opportunities among departments for cross-selling and upselling.”

Response (50-100 words):

Mariela:
“1. Management may be concerned about the accuracy of product costs for a variety of reasons. Some of the reasons may include things like budgeting, cost control, investment decisions, and risk management. Knowing the accuracy of product costs helps management make informed decisions about products and selling prices.

2. A manufacturing company with multiple production departments would prefer using a single plant-wide overhead rate because of how simple and inexpensive it is. Using a single plant-wide overhead rate can help a company save money because they would not have to calculate and manage each department’s rate, making it both cost and time efficient.

3. The major difference between the multiple production department and the single plant wide factory overhead rate methods is that one uses a single rate while the other does not. In multiple production department overhead rate method, different rates are “set” for different/each production department in order to allocate the factory overhead costs to products. On the other hand, the single plant wide factory overhead rate method uses only one rate to allocate these costs.

4. I believe that it is important to build rapport with the department managers because it leads to effective communication and decision-making. It allows both the department and account managers to manage a company/organization successfully.”
