In what ways could you contribute to building a climate of innovation in your organization?

“The success of an intervention depends on the interior condition of the Intervenor.” – William O’Brien, former CEO of Hanover Insurance Company (as cited in Giacomassi, 2017).

While you have spent time this week considering innovation and innovation barriers in your discussion posts, you have the opportunity to go deeper as you reflect on your personal experience and attitudes towards innovation.

Upon successful completion of this assignment, you will be able to:

· Reflect on a personal time/process of innovation.

· Self-reflect on impact of values and virtues on investment in others.

· Reflect on personal preparation for leading change.

Background Information

Your preparation for this discussion forum begins by reviewing all of the material assigned in Workshop One, including  Assignment 1.3 (new tab)  – Scharmer’s Theory U.

Most organizational leaders agree that innovation is crucial to organizational success, yet not all leaders know how to encourage innovation within their organizations. Self-reflection on your inner life will help prepare you to lead others through this process.

Instructions

1. Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade.

2. Review all of the materials assigned in Workshop One, including book chapters, articles, and videos (these are the same resources used for this week’s Workshop discussion forum).

3. Write a two-page reflection paper (500-600 words double-spaced in a Word document), addressing the following reflection prompts:

a. Reflect on innovation, innovation barriers, and Scharmer’s Theory U process and write a one-page reflection of a time you engaged in an innovation process.

b. Some scholars describe Scharmer’s concept of “presencing” as a transformative journey. Have you ever engaged in such transformative work? What happened? If you have not engaged in such work, how might you imagine yourself doing so?

c. How does your organization (past or present) prioritize (or not) innovation and change?

d. In what ways could you contribute to building a climate of innovation in your organization?

e. What are some potential benefits for your organization to prioritize innovation?

g. As a leader, are you prepared in your inner life to lead change? Why or why not?

h. What is the most significant insight on innovation you learned from the discussion, book, articles, and/or video this week? Discuss why did you found it significant. How might you apply it in the future?

4. Inasmuch as this is a reflection paper, first-person voice is acceptable. No additional sources are required, as well.

5. Feel free to utilize Academic Writer (APA formatting resource) and Grammarly (grammar and plagiarism check) on the  IWU Resources (new tab)  page.

a. All papers are to be written in accordance with  APA Guidelines (7th ed) (new tab)  including format guidelines. Papers must be logical, well organized, grammatically correct, and have correct spelling and sentence structure.  Write in complete paragraphs of at least three sentences in length.

Describe innovation and why it is important to organizational leadership.

1.3 Discussion. Innovation (Scharmer’s Theory U)

Getting Started

What sets innovators apart from their peers? How do they think differently about the world? In this week’s discussion, we are going to dive into innovative thinking and behaviors. Great innovators observe the world and are curious about what they see. They ask questions that cause them to rethink their world. In the short four-minute  video (new tab) , The Four Behaviors of Innovative Leaders, Hal Gregersen discusses how innovative leaders come up with new ideas.

While some people associate innovation with personality type, others see innovation behaviors as a process. First introduced by Otto Scharmer, Theory U is a process of innovation stages that focus on the perspective of the whole system rather than the smaller parts. The first two steps (e.g., “going down the U”) involve gathering information in a non-judgmental way through listening and openness. At the bottom of the U is a step to identify blind spots. As a person moves to the last two steps (i.e., “going back up the U”), they begin to develop new solutions and move toward action.

What types of data do you think Police agencies would use to detect and interdict crime?

Reply to both 250 words please

1)

1. What do you think about the way Memphis is using technology to fight crime? I think it is a great idea. We live in a time where almost everyone uses some form of technology in their daily lives. Technology is meant to make our life easier. If using technology can make the lives of officers easier then we should be using it. If it can be used to help deploy officers faster to help get the crime rate down, then I think it is worth it.

2. What types of data do you think Police agencies would use to detect and interdict crime? I think they look at current arrest records to see where individuals are being arrested at the most. This way they can have more officers in that area and might help deter crime. I also believe that they use website companies to help track certain objects. When they see a trend of certain items sent to an area they can let officers know so they can be on the lookout.

3. What technologies are needed to capture crime data? I think good quality cameras are one of the main technologies needed. You can not do a lot of good if you are not able to monitor an area. I also believe that you need officers who are trained in analytics. They are needed to use the data to help give officers the things that are needed. I also believe that you need good computer programs that officers use to put their arrest. They use computer programs to help track what arrests they are doing and where they are happening at. Analytics then can use the data to help create a plan.

4. What technologies are needed to maximize the ability to identify and analyze crime data? I believe having the right equipment is the main focus. I also believe that you need officers who are trained in analytics. They are needed to use the data to help give officers the things that are needed.

In what situations or circumstances should someone with severe mental illness be forced to undergo treatment?

In what situations or circumstances should someone with severe mental illness be forced to undergo treatment? How does someone’s civil rights weigh against involuntary treatment that is in his or her best interests? Is being forced to take psychotropic medication worse, in terms of violating the individual’s right to refuse treatment, than being forced to undergo psychotherapy? Explain your position on all of these issues with relevant information from the textbook and/or scholarly, peer-reviewed academic journals.

Discuss a patient interaction in which the principle of  Privacy and confidentiality was breached, and why?

The purpose of this reflective journal is self-reflection regarding the role in the process of self-reflection as a PMHNP provider. Through reflective practice, the student will evaluate their own emotional health and recognize one’s own feelings as well as one’s ability to monitor and manage those feelings. The point of the exercise is to learn yourself, your triggers, the types of cases you end up getting overly involved with, and those you’d rather refer to someone else. The idea is to be able to personally reflect on your behaviors/thoughts/decisions and how those impact you in the role of PMHNP.

Address the following items:

The principles of nursing such as  Autonomy, Beneficence, Fidelity, Informed consent, Integrity, Justice, Nonmaleficence, Paternalism, Veracity, as well as Privacy, and Confidentiality describe what constitutes safe and effective nursing care, and cover the aspects of behavior, attitude, and approach that underpin good care.

· Discuss a patient interaction in which the principle of  Privacy and confidentiality was breached, and why?

· What did you learn from this and how important is this principle in providing nursing care?

Explain the impact and adoption of ISO/ TC 215, Health Informatics.
