Valuation Analyst, overusing IRR and dangers of using IRR without NPV

Please provide a response to the following

Page 1

You have just been made a valuation analyst. Before you get training (what else is new!), your boss asks you to value a number of items: 1) a publicly-traded company; 2) a family business; 3) a shopping center; 4) an oil refinery; 5) a patent or trademark; and, by the way, 6) did the local tax assessor correctly value his house? How might you go about these tasks? While the course concentrates on the first two items, we will discuss, at least in passing, the remaining ones. I don’t expect everyone to comment on every situation, but I am looking for a variety of comments to help establish the base from which we are proceeding.

Academics warn practitioners about overusing of IRR, and, nevertheless, IRR remains probably the most popular measure. What is making the IRR so attractive? And what are the “dangers” of using IRR without NPV? You may use the textbook as your starting point, but please give your own examples, when using IRR as an investment criterion would lead, in your opinion, to a wrong decision.

Discuss and analyze Information Techology-Impact on healthcare & patient privacy

A. Information Technology Impact on Health Care Systems.

Provide an analysis of the following two Acts and their impact on healthcare systems:

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

The Title II Administrative Simplification Act.

Your analysis should include the above items and include a description of each, as well as their impact on health information systems and protection of patient privacy.

B. Go to the HIPAA Journal website (Links to an external site.)

There you will find data breach cases posted by month and day.

Select a data breach case:

Based on your month of birth, select a data breach case from the HIPAA Journal website. In your description of the data breach, include the following information:

Organization and location

Type of service(s) provided by the organization

Type of breach (which section of the HIPAA law was violated)

Time period over which breach occurred

Number of and type of clients impacted

Recommendation actions to resolve the case, including any fines or penalties

Conclusion: Based on the type of organization that committed the breach, select another local organization for which the possible violation is possible. Identify the organization and include a recommendation that they should implement to avoid breach of client/patient data by their employees.

For example: In August 2018, the New Mexico Department of Health experienced a breach of PHI when medical records in transit to a storage facility fell from a truck and were found on the streets. If you worked at the Duval County Health Department as a case manager, this case can be used as lesson learned for the risk management department to re-examine the security and securing of medical records by its contract company that transports medical records.

Note: The conclusion should tie together Parts 1, 2, and 3 of the assignment.

Digital Intellectual Property

The Internet is an ideal communication mechanism because of its openness and anonymity but people must make ethical decisions about how to use this power. Intellectual property is a work of the mind, such as art, books, formulas, inventions, and processes that are distinct and created by a single person or group. Copyright law protects authored works such as art, books, film, and music. Patent law protects inventions, and trade secret law helps safeguard information that is mission critical in an organization

Discuss how freedom of expression and intellectual property rights might ethically conflict. In your reply, consider how your own freedom of expression might affect your privacy or personal intellectual property. Please provide examples when possible.

Highlight ethical dilemmas, assume the role of a case manager at a human service agency

For this assignment, assume the role of a case manager at a human service agency. You have appointments with four clients tomorrow. Select three of the five client profiles from the following four scenarios. For each client, prepare a plan which answers the indicated questions (for each plan provide 3 to 4 paragraphs).

Client A

Client A is pregnant with her third child; eldest child is very ill and requires a bone marrow transplant. There were no matching donors on the national list. She and her husband decided to have a baby who could be used to save her other child. Client A is seeking counseling as to what to do.

Describe the organ transplant history and process.

Is there a list of people waiting for transplant? If so, what are the requirements and challenges?

What are any ethical issues associated with organ transplant?

Client B

Client B is in need of a back operation and has insurance, but can’t afford the cost share/copay of the operation. Client B has heard that other countries offer the procedure for less money.

Consult the textbook and resources for medical tourism.

Locate two countries that offer low cost surgeries. Include challenges such as different health standards/safety issues if any.

What are any ethical issues associated with medical tourism?

Client C

Client C has a terminal illness, in a lot of pain, and is considering euthanasia. Client C wants to discuss whether this is an option.

Consult the textbook and resources for euthanasia and end of life decisions.

Describe the history of both and steps to consider when considering either.

What are the ethical issues associated with euthanasia and end of life decisions?

Client D

Client D has a grandmother who has become more and more forgetful. Client D goes with her grandmother to her primary care physician, who says it’s just old age. Recently, she left the stove on and has begun to wander away from the house. Client D thinks that it is more than old age and may be a mental health issue.

Consult the textbook and resources for elderly population and mental health.

Describe common types of mental disorders in the elderly.

What are some challenges/solutions (programs/services) in providing care to the grandmother?

Client E

Client E has a 16-year-old teenager who has become sullen, reclusive, and appears to be depressed. Client E’s teenager states that they are being bullied at school and they refuse to go anymore. The teenager also indicates that they want to harm the ones bullying them. Client E thinks that the teenager may be on drugs and she should bring the teenager in for services.

Consult the textbook and resources for children and mental health.

Describe common types of mental disorders in children.

What are challenges and ethical issues in providing programs/services to children? What is the legal or ethical requirement to report a potential problem?

Elaborate on the study of terrorism.

You will choose the topic you write on, but your topic must be directly related to the study of terrorism.

Your paper must make a point. Do not merely report facts. Take what is, analyze it, interpret it in light of a personal Christian worldview, discuss options, and discuss things you think should change. Support your ideas, give alternatives to current practice and support them, and integrate material from textbook readings or lectures. If you are of a different major taking this as an elective, integrate your field into this project.

Can humans survive without bees?

No doubt doing an environmental research paper would necessitate more effort and patience than any other assignment. You have to settle on a specific problem and then carry out a compelling study that will help you arrive at informative conclusions on the environmental issues under investigation. Your research should not be a representation of your ideas about a natural and ecological aspect but should also harmoniously encompass references from other credible sources.

Your job is to help create a deeper understanding of something most people engage uncritically. Your reader should understand what topic is being examined.  Your research should be supported with a minimum of 5 scholarly (peer-reviewed) sources Chose a subject that you will be excited about, maybe something that you are familiar with yet would like to know more about. For example, if you are interested in space an example topic could be the possibility of human colonization of mars, or perhaps feasibility of mining asteroids. This is a research project so you are required to analyze a topic and develop a thesis statement which clearly presents your position based on the research conducted.

U.S Healthcare Pyramid

Part A

Students will analyze each of the three different levels of the healthcare pyramid: i.e., primary, secondary, and tertiary care. In your analysis, contrast with the previous level of care. The analysis should include an example of each type of care.

Part B

For each level of care, describe one or two types of professionals that provide care at each level.

For each professional describe:

The type of education required

The types of services provided

Any type of certification/licensure needed to practice

Part C

For each level of care, cite two (2) examples of local institutions that fit the description.

For example, Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center would be an example of a tertiary care provider.

Pathophys – Malignant melanoma skin cancer

Mr. J, age 42, is a construction worker in Las Vegas who lives with his daughter and grandson, Sammy. He recently noticed that a mole on his face seemed to be getting larger and darker. At first, he did not worry because he was in the sun a lot and assumed the change may have been caused by sunburn. After a month, not only was the mole larger and darker, but it appeared to be “bumpy.” His doctor diagnosed a malignant melanoma skin cancer following biopsy of the nevus. Mr. J reports pain in his right shin that does not go away when he puts his feet up or sleeps.

Discussion Questions

Relate Mr. J’s skin changes to the warning signs for malignant melanoma.

Discuss the normal progression of this malignancy. What is the significance of the bone pain that Mr. J is experiencing?

Discuss the treatment available for this patient and the prognosis for recovery.

Discussion Questions

Mr. J is babysitting his grandson Sammy, age 3 years, who ate his dinner and then said his tummy hurt. Mr. J suggested he lie down in the adjacent room while his parents finished dinner. A few minutes later, Mr. J heard Sammy vomiting. He rushed in to lift Sammy up. When vomiting ceased, he noticed Sammy continued to cough and seemed to be choking. He was struggling to breathe, and a wheezing sound was obvious. It appeared that he had aspirated some vomitus. Mr. J drove him to a nearby hospital for examination.

Discuss the specific effects of aspirating vomitus on Sammy, including the probable effects on his bronchi and lungs. Why might one lung be affected more than the other?

Discuss the pathophysiologic changes causing the signs and symptoms and any tests required to clarify the effects on Sammy.

Suggest some reasons for Sammy’s difficulty breathing and wheezing.

Discuss the potential complications of aspiration of vomitus.
