Research Paper

In this paper, the student will identify an issue in the law (MY CHOSEN TOPIC IS: The Legal consequences of poor Nursing documentation) , which pertains to nursing on one of the

following major topics. Each of the following topics has been decided in conflicting ways by the

State Supreme Courts or the U.S. Courts of Appeal over the past three years. None of the

following issues has been fully addressed by the U.S. Supreme Court. All issues are therefore

being presently debated by Congress and our State legislatures. The Research Paper will reflect a thorough understanding of all sides of the issue. It must show a

thorough analysis of all sides of the issue, not merely a personal opinion. The student must come

to a position based on information researched and professional experiences. Must be minimum of 7 – 10 pages double-spaced pages of text in length

 Must include a cover page that includes the following:

 Title of paper

 Learner’s name

 Immaculata University and Module name and number

 Facilitator’s name

 Date submitted

 Must comply with APA format (APA format is demonstrated at:

)

 Must include an introductory paragraph with a succinct thesis statement.

 Must include, in body of the paper, sufficient academic concepts (three to four) prompted

by course facilitator, assignments, and other requirements.

Applied Valuation

Prepare a report for your line manager that contains the following (stating any assumptions necessary):

a. The synergistic (marriage) value that may be realised from combining the interests at 16

Silver St, as well as your recommendations as to offers which your client should make to

the tenant.

b. The value of the factory freehold interest. You should also explain the elements that a

valuer must consider when carrying out a valuation of a contaminated property.

c. An estimation of the new level of rent for the warehouse, which the parties are likely to find

acceptable.

d. In their correspondence with your firm, the clients have mentioned that they are aware of

the concept of true equivalent yield but are unsure what this means or how this is

calculated. Provide a brief explanation using an example to illustrate the method.

e. The client has also stressed that they need valuation advice quickly. The end of the

financial year is approaching and have asked if your employers can just provide the

valuation figures as they do not require a valuation report nor any additional information.

Your line manager has asked you to draft a short memo to the client, as part of your report,

explaining and justifying why the procedures, preparation and presentation of valuation

reports, as required by the RICS Valuation – Global Standards (effective from 31st January

2020), are important.

Performance Evaluation

Criteria for Content

This assignment consists of two required parts:

Part 1: Completion of the written Final Performance Evaluation for one learner who is successfully demonstrating TWO of the required competencies but needs improvement in the third required competency.

Part 2: Completion of the written Final Performance Evaluation for one learner who is unsuccessful in all two of the required competencies.

Note: The practice setting is based upon the MSN student’s future practice setting as a nurse educator.

For each of the two learners, the written summative evaluation is completed using the Final Performance Evaluation Form noted below. Specific fictional examples of learners’ expected behavior or absence of behavior are to be provided in the Educator’s Summative Assessment column in order to support the decision regarding satisfactory, improvement needed, or unsatisfactory. A comprehensive concluding statement must be provided that summarizes the decision. A separate Final Performance Evaluation form must be completed for the satisfactory learner and for the unsatisfactory learner.

Part 1: Written Performance Evaluation for the Successful Learner: The required content for the written summative evaluation is the following.

Identify the practice setting

Provide a fictional example identifying the behaviors of the successful learner in the clinical setting

Identify the evaluation score for each competency

Identify the competency that needs improvement

Objective wording present in the Educator’s Summative Assessment that supports the Evaluation Score

Specific fictional examples of learner’s behavior for knowledge, skills, and attitudes for each competency

Comprehensive concluding statement regarding the summative evaluation

Part 2: Written Performance Evaluation for the Unsuccessful Learner: The required content for the written summative evaluation is the following.

Identify the practice setting

Provide a fictional example identifying the behaviors of the unsuccessful learner in the clinical setting

Identify the evaluation score for each competency

Identify the two competencies that are unsatisfactory

Objective wording present in the Educator’s Summative Assessment that supports the Evaluation Score

Specific fictional examples of learner’s behavior for knowledge, skills, and attitudes for each competency

Comprehensive concluding statement regarding the summative evaluation

Preparing the Assignment

Learner’s Behavior:One of your learners asks to speak to you privately about a concern. Upon entering your office and providing for privacy, the learner slowly and then more forcibly begins to speak. She tells you that she is considering filing a formal grievance against you for age discrimination

One of your learners asks to speak to you privately about a concern. Upon entering your office and providing for privacy, the learner slowly and then more forcibly begins to speak. She tells you that she is considering filing a formal grievance against you for age discrimination. During the last formative evaluation conference, you identified concerns in the areas of

(a) patient safety; and

(b) application of knowledge related to medications.

The learner identifies that after several intense conversations with peers, she believes that you are discriminating due to age. The learner then identifies how the concerns related to patient safety and application of knowledge are due to your biased misperceptions. Select a learning environment (nursing professional development or academic), and provide information on how you would first respond to the learner in your office and then what responses would be appropriate at a later time.

Skills Laboratory

You are responsible for the skills laboratory (either for mentoring a small group of new nurses or senior nursing students), and it is time for check-offs. You prepared four different scenarios, each requiring different nursing skills. You provided the learners with a basic overview of each scenario. The day before the check-off, you select the one scenario that will be used for the check-off, and prepare the skills laboratory. During the check-off, you are repeatedly amazed at how well-prepared the learners are. The next day, after the check-off, one of the learners comes to your office and asks to speak to you. During the conversation, she identifies that another learner had correctly found out which scenario was going to be used during the check-off and told everyone in the group. She refuses to identify the other learner who found out the information. What would be your course of action?

Person-centered Strategies to Support Social Justice and Health Equity

Social justice and the pursuit of health equity are foundational values intended to shape healthcare policies, resources, and delivery. Unfortunately; even with intentional efforts to promote health and prevent disease, disparities and inequity are not uncommon.

Create a short case scenario regarding a client with an alteration in health involving one of the body systems (GI or GU- could be GERD). In the scenario, also describe at least one health disparity experienced by your fictitious client. Respond to the following:

– Present the case scenario, and explain the alteration in health (GI or GU) and the health disparities experienced by the fictitious client.

– Discuss the variables that contributed to health disparity in this situation, such as physical, cultural, social, economic, or educational determinants. Explain how the disparity impacts the alteration in health (GI or GU) experienced by the client.

– Prioritize two action steps for the MSN-prepared nurse to minimize disparity, support health equity, and address the alteration in health within your scenario.

What risks are inherent for the college, with its reliance on its rapid shifts to implement new initiatives based on entrepreneurial demands?

The SLP assignments for this course ask you to review a case study from Community College Leadership: A Multidimensional Model for Leading Change by Eddy (2010).

Review the case study “New World College: Technology Community College,” located in Appendix B on pages 173 – 175. Respond to the following questions:

• What risks are inherent for the college, with its reliance on its rapid shifts to implement new initiatives based on entrepreneurial demands?

• How might academic programming be impacted by the business ventures?

• What needs to occur at the college to provide for the sustainability of programs when President Jones leaves?

• In conclusion, how might this case study reflect your own experience as an educational leader? Or discuss how consideration of this case is useful in your development as an educational leader.
