The Impact of Socioeconomic Status on School Events

Case Study 1 Critical Incidence in Teaching

Read the Case: Critical Incidence in Teaching; Impact of Socioeconomic Status on School Events, p.61 (10 edition) then answer all the three questions that follow the case. Below is the case.

The Impact of Socioeconomic Status on School Events

The middle school in a rural community of 9,000 residents has four school-sponsored dances each year. At the Valentine’s day dance, a coat-and-tie affair, six eight-grade boys showed up in the rented tuxedos. They had planned this together, and their parents , who were among the more affluent in the community, thought it would be “cute” and paid for the rentals. The final dance of the year is scheduled for May, and it too is a coat-and-tie dance. This time, rumors are circulating around the school that “everyone” is renting a tux and that the girls are getting new formal dresses. The parents of the six boys are, according to the grapevine, renting a limousine for their sons and their dates. These behaviors and dress standards are far in excess of anything previously observed at the middle school.

Several students, particularly those from lower-income backgrounds, have said they will boycott the dance. They cannot afford the expensive attire, and they claim that ones behind the dress-up movement have said that only the nerds or geeks would show up in anything less than a tux or a formal gown.

Now answer the following questions:

1. How can schools ensure that the cost of attending school affairs or events is not prohibitive for some of their students?

2. Should school administrators intervene in the plans being made by the more affluent or advantaged students? What could they do to control the situation?

3. Why could the actions of these advantaged or affluent students be disruptive to the school climate or events

Review of Literature

The overall goal of the Review of Literature is to present to your audience the existing knowledge or evidence that is in existence about your identified topic. Be sure to summarize your literature and sort the articles into themes. Synthesize your findings here and identify relationships between any evidence that you have reviewed.  Your evidence tables should be helpful as your begin to write this section.

As you begin to write this section, keep in mind you want your reader to have a full understanding of the topic when they finish reading this section. Read this section aloud, record yourself and listen to yourself. Make necessary adjustments to ensure you transition smoothly and seamlessly from one piece of evidence to the next.  When you listen to yourself read this section, does it make sense? If it doesn’t, it will not make sense to your readers.

Direct quotes should be rarely used, however if absolutely necessary then use them sparingly. Do not include your personal interpretation or opinions. The literature review should contain all objective information.

You should include a minimum of 10-15 articles here (all of these articles should be appraised through the use of your evidence table). These articles must be from peer-reviewed articles and published in the last 3-5 years. If you found an article that is pivotal to the topic of your project that is more than 5 years old, discuss this with your mentor as this may still be okay because of the significance of the findings.

Conclude this section with a summary of your findings. Make a statement regarding the rationale for performing this project (as evidenced by your literature review).

Chemiluminessence methodology

1- Explain the principle of Chemiluminessence methodology

2- List the type of specimens used for each method.

3- Describe how each method rates as far as reliability (accuracy and precision).

4- Discuss your findings briefly on the message board.

Ecosystems, Report that focuses on the impact of digital labor platforms in your professional sector

Report that focuses on the impact of digital labor platforms in your professional sector. For example, if you are a lawyer, a consultant, an IT specialist, etc., what are the opportunities and risks for you to grow your business and take advantage of demand-based economies of scale? You can focus on either opportunities and risks for freelance work or for full time work in your existing organization. Each option will present different sets of opportunities and risks for career and skill development, but also in supplier and customer interactions. Emphasis should be placed on the specific ecosystem context of your professional sector and the available digital
platforms (e.g. if you are a software developer GitHub and Top Coder could be
examples of digital platforms; if you are a consultant Eden McCallum would be an example; and so on).
You are also expected to conduct relevant literature searches to develop a line of argument that is powerful for the claims you are making. The final assignment is open-ended, but it should be written in a scholarly way. References (at least 15 academic papers) should be used (not as footnotes). The references should follow the Harvard Referencing Style. To make the analysis as powerful as possible it might be useful to ground your analysis your personal experiences and the specific actions to be taken. In your report, please make these specific strategic actions explicit. In addition, you need to demonstrate understanding of key theoretical concepts and that you can apply theory effectively and critically.
The essay will be assessed with a focus on the:
(1) analysis of the opportunities and risks presented to you by digital labor platforms
in your professional sector for each of the two scenarios (freelance vs full time work),
depending on what you choose to focus on,
(2) actionable plan for career and skill development and engagement with ecosystem
partners, and
(3) quality of the argumentation with relevant and critical use of literature and data.
Note for writer: Please focus on the financial services sector if possible.
Second alternative can be consulting, or the startup sector
