Prepare a professional briefing about the indigenous culture of your chosen country

In Discussion Forum 3, post your response to the following discussion question.
Select one of the following countries: India, Bolivia, Tunisia, Vietnam, Malaysia, South Korea, Finland, Jamaica, United Arab Emirates, or Sri Lanka.
Scenario: Your organization is opening a new international branch of operations. Six staff members have been chosen to represent the company as an initial task force, located in the capital city. An interpreter has been hired to assist with translations; however, the team needs to familiarize itself with
the cultural aspects of communications in the capital city. Prepare a professional briefing of 100 to 200 words about the indigenous culture of your chosen country. The summary must include at least five cultural communication elements/practices (either verbal or nonverbal) that the delegation needs to know. Properly cite in APA format all information you borrow from outside sources

How should the U.S. deal with the rising cost of college?

Not that long ago, a high school degree was enough to start a career. Today a college degree is (generally) necessary for a well-paying job. Meanwhile, the cost of college is getting higher and higher. This make college unattainable for many people, which, in turn, makes well-paying jobs unattainable. This raises the question, how best to deal with the rising cost of college? Should state college be free? or just two-year community college? Should student loan debt be erased? What do you think?

discuss how these new technologies have effected the way transgender people document and share their transitions online

My essay, “The Boy in the Blue Dress,” discussed how Transgender men have used ejournals and blogs to document their transitions. Since the essay was written there have been major advances in social media, interactivity and the phones inside mobile devices like iphones. Please discuss how these new technologies have effected the way transgender people document and share their transitions online. Include a link to at least one transition website/blog etc. My essay does not discuss the experiences of transgender women. This is partly due to the fact that there many less websites/ejournals etc authored by Transgender women. Do some research. Why do you think this might be?

How did the Carter and Reagan presidencies serve corporation interests?

Read Zinn, chapter 21
How did the Carter and Reagan presidencies serve corporation interests?
How did the Bush I administration respond to the threat of peace?

(Hint: Real peace is a problem for the U.S. military state, because that would mean no justification for the massive military budgets and domestic spying operations that target US citizen (especially our cell phones and computers). So the U.S. military state must always have an official enemy and usually exaggerates the actual danger. The official enemy changes from time to time, based on the needs of U.S. propagandists, but can include communists, drug lords, terrorists, or a country–Soviet Union, Iran, Iraq, North Korea, China.)

What will the new normal mean for you?

Discussion

Food for Thought:

There has been even current discussion of societal transition from Information society towards Bio-society. Do you think that the changes that have resulted from the widespread rationalization of society and technological advancement? Do you think that changes improved peoples lives or made them worse, or do you think societies are getting better or worse? Do you think that while expanding technology can help to solve many existing social problems, it creates new problems even as it remedies old ones? How could modern societies reduce the level of anomie (social crises)? Well, in the face of the pandemic, we are changing our everyday life relations and learning to adopt not only new normal but our way of thinking about future of humanity. This module will help us to understand New Normal based on two readings from contemporary philosophers Lets think about what will the new normal for us? Can this be done without limiting individual freedom or we need redefinition where common goods meet with individual rights? What will the new normal mean for you?

Find the equilibrium levels of the real wage, employment and output

The following equations characterize a country’s closed economy.

Production function: Y = A·K·N – N^2/2

Marginal product of labor: MPN = A·K – N.

where the initial values of A = 10 and K = 8.

The initial labor supply curve is given as: N^S = 40 + 9w.

a) (5 points) Find the equilibrium levels of the real wage, employment and output (show work).

Draw two diagrams vertically with the labor market on the bottom graph and the production function on the top graph. Be sure to label everything including these initial equilibrium points as point A.

Initial conditions in the goods market

Cd = 1000 + .50(Y-T) – 500r

Id = 600 – 500r

G = 100

T= 100

Initial conditions in the money market

Md/P = 78 + .5Y – 1000 (r + π^e)

where M = 2400 and π^e = 0.02 (2%)

b) (5 points) Given these initial conditions in the goods market, solve for an expression of the IS curve (r in terms of Y).

c) (5 points) Given the initial output, as in part a), what is the goods market clearing interest rate?

d) (5 points) Given the initial output as in part a) and the goods market clearing interest rate as in part c), what is the general equilibrium price level?

e) (5 points) Please solve for an expression for the LM curve (r in terms of Y).

Now draw four separate diagrams: (40 points total) Top left: a desired savings equals desired investment (S^d = I^d ), Top right: a FE – IS – LM diagram, Bottom left: a money market diagram, Bottom right: An AD – AS diagram, locating this initial equilibrium point as point A. BE SURE to LABEL all diagrams completely (10 points for each correctly drawn and labeled diagram…each diagram will have two different equilibrium points A and B)

The labor supply changes and is now: NS = 30 + 9w .
K goes up from 8 to 9
f) (5 points) What could cause such a change in labor supply? Please give two specific and well supported reasons. Be sure to explicitly identify/choose one of your (two) reasons to use as a “relevant” shift variable in your graph.

We now have numerous changes to our economic conditions (all is not constant). Think of all these changes happening together, that is, we go from one state of economic affairs to a different state of economic affairs. Below are the changes.

g) (5 points) Given the change in NS and K, repeat part a) (i.e., find the equilibrium levels of the real wage, employment and output). Add these results to your labor market and production function diagrams respectively and label as point(s) B. Be sure to label the diagram completely with the relevant shift variables in parentheses next to the function.

Given the change in labor market conditions / production function we have one other change and that is the desired consumption function has changed and is now:

Cd = 1440 + .50(Y-T) – 500r

h) (5 points) What could cause such a change in the desired consumption function? Please give two specific and well supported reasons. Be sure to explicitly identify/choose one of your (two) reasons to use as a “relevant” shift variable in your graphs.

i) (5 points) Given this change in desired consumption, solve for a “new” expression of the IS curve.

j) (5 points) Given the change in desired consumption and the change in Y, solve for the new goods market clearing interest rate.

k) (5 points) Given the change in Y and r, solve for the new (if applicable) general equilibrium price level (we assume that prices adjust immediately to their general equilibrium value)

Please locate this new general equilibrium as point B on all your diagrams.

l) (10 points) Using a generic two period consumption diagram, show the movement from point A to point B. Please be sure to be consistent and use the same reason that you chose in part h). Explain exactly why the desired consumption has changed the way it has. Be sure to label your graph completely.

m) (5 points) Is the movement from A to B more consistent with Classical economic theory or Keynesian economic theory? Explain.
