Describe your initial expectations on researching your chosen service organization. What specific disciplinary skills (i.e. skills learned in your major) could you apply to your chosen service organization? As health care consumers, we all expect quality care and positive outcomes. It is important as professionals that we meet these demands of health care consumers. Consider the work of the major theorists you examined in this week’s Resources and think about how these theories apply to your own experience as a health care customer and/or practitioner.

This assignment will give you the opportunity to choose a case study, and then write about the ethical implications and the impact of the events that are described. Each case study includes a set of questions that you should answer. You can choose either Case Study 9.1: Unprofessional Conduct, or Case Study 8.4: Have Gun Will Travel.

Case 8.4: Have Gun, Will Travel…to Work

Do you have not only a legal, but a moral right to own a gun? Do you believe that you have either a moral or a legal right to park a car with a loaded gun in a privately owned parking lot, regardless of what the lot’s owner wants?
In your view, do employees have either a moral or a legal right to park cars with guns in them in the company parking lot? What do you believe should be the property rights and safety concerns of employers?
Do you think state legislatures are right to get involved, or should the matter be left to companies and employees to settle?
Because the workplace is the company’s private property, the company could choose to allow employees to bring guns not only into the parking lot, but also into the workplace itself. Are there ever circumstances in which doing so might be reasonable? Or would the presence of guns automatically violate the rights of other employees to be guaranteed a safe working environment?

The healthcare delivery system is often described as a service-driven industry. Therefore, it is vitally important for healthcare organizations to define the services that they are providing; however, it is equally important to determine the demographics or customer base that requires the specific service.

The strategic planning process supports the healthcare organization by prioritizing objectives and detailing the actions needed to fulfil the goals of the business plan. Specific actions are unique and depend on the healthcare organization’s services, goals, and mission. Not all objectives outlined in the strategic plan require marketing plans (e.g., purchasing land, equipment, and buildings). Other objectives may require a marketing plan (e.g., providing physical therapy targeted toward a specific demographic).

To prepare for this discussion, read Chapters 1 and 2 of the course text. You may also want to review the recommended article by Yang (2010). Then read the scenario below and construct your initial post based on the directives that follow.

Scenario
The marketing director for Happy Valley long-term care center looks at the organization’s strategic plan to differentiate marketable objectives from non-marketable objectives. Objectives found in the healthcare organization’s strategic plan include the following:

Acquiring physical resources
Providing elder day care to Alzheimer’s patients

Initial Post: Based on the Happy Valley scenario detailed above and the information presented in Chapters 1 and 2 of the course text, construct an initial post in which you

Image a USB Drive Using Windows Tools
After imaging the USB drive with Linux in Step 2, your next step is to image the USB drive again, this time using Windows tools. Review your “Resources and Procedures Notes” first, then go to the virtual lab. When you complete the activity, review your lab notes and report for accuracy and completeness; they will be included in your final forensic imaging lab report (Step 7).

Your organization’s legal team has some questions for you in Step 4.

Step 4: Respond to Questions from the Legal Team

In previous steps, you imaged the USB drive using Linux and Windows tools. In this step, you respond to pointed questions from your organization’s legal team. The legal team has been involved in cybercrime cases before, but they want to make sure they are prepared for possible legal challenges. They have requested very specific information about your imaging procedures.

Questions from the legal team:

1. Assuming that this is a criminal case that will be heard in a court of law, which hashing algorithm will you use and why?

2. What if the hash of your original does not match your forensic copy? What kinds of issues could that create? What could cause this situation?

3. What if your OS automatically mounts your flash drive prior to creating your forensic duplicate? What kinds of problems could that create?

4. How will you be able to prove that your OS did not automatically mount your flash drive and change its contents prior to the creation of the forensic copy?

The legal team would like you to respond in the form of a brief memo (1-2 pages) written in plain, simple English. The memo will be included in your final forensic imaging lab report (Step 7) so review it carefully for accuracy and completeness.

You are hoping that you will be able to access the suspect’s local computer next!

Select a specific clinical problem and post a clinical question that could potentially be answered using data mining.

Select a defined patient population for example; diabetic patients over 65 years of age. List elements that you think will be valuable in a database. Describe each element and explain each terms of its type of data (text, numbers, date, time, binary, etc.). If an element can be more than one type of data explain how that is possible. Discuss the type of integration data from your defined patient population in Topic 4:1 would require. How could the EHR database facilitate this type of integration between clinical and administration systems

Select a specific clinical problem and post a clinical question that could potentially be answered using data mining. Identify data mining techniques you would apply to this challenge, and provide your rationale. Are there any specific data mining techniques you would not use? Support your decision.

Using the clinical question you identified from above, determine the individual components to that question and pinpoint the location in the hypothetical database where the information you require will be extracted.

A patient of your choice is being discharged to home and will use telehealth technology. Post the technology your patient will use at home and how will you connect with the patient using this technology.

Consider current telehealth strategies and alternatives. Evaluate current implementation strategies for telehealth systems and provide an assessment of the pros and cons. Identify a particular practice area (e.g., clinic, hospital, primary care site) and discuss how you as a health care leader might you implement a similar strategy in that area?

Describe one technology that you use on a daily basis that you thoroughly like or appreciate. What features or elements does that technology provide to you that make it easy, enjoyable, or necessary to use?
