Due to the military dictatorship in Myanmar, the Burman people were faced with extreme social, economic, physical, and environmental vulnerabilities.

Cyclone Nargis was a devastating natural disaster that killed over 140,000 people, displaced 800,000, and destroyed the majority of the nation’s schools and health facilities. This cyclone was a category 3 with massive wind speeds of 124 miles per hour and twelve feet tall storm surges. Due to the military dictatorship in Myanmar, the Burman people were faced with extreme social, economic, physical, and environmental vulnerabilities. The dictatorship of Myanmar caused for frequent human rights violations. This made the Burman people vulnerable socially. Once the United Nations saw what this government was doing to their people, they put economic restrictions on the country, making them economically vulnerable. Moreover, due to the reduced funds, the environment and infrastructure paid the price with lack of ability to yield crops and build better homes, schools, hospitals, etc. This meant Myanmar had environmental and physical vulnerabilities as well (Cuadra, 2022). After Nargis hit Myanmar, these vulnerabilities left a large impact on the country as a whole. Since the majority of the population was in poverty, they relied heavily on natural resources. The cyclone wiped out nearly 100,000 acres of natural and replanted mangroves. It submerged more than 63 percent of paddy fields, and damaged 43 percent of freshwater ponds. Since so many resources were demolished, this made the natural disaster much worse since many relied on the natural resources. Furthermore, since so much soil had been eroded, this left the Burman people with a large struggle to yield crops for many years to come (Mohamed, 2008). It is clear to see that having a country exposed to vulnerabilities like this not only damage lives immediately following the disaster, but for a long time to come.

What strategies, then, can early childhood educators use to help children of families from diverse cultures be successful in this area?

Consider what you have been learning in regards to the influences of culture on learning.

Culture affects how children learn and develop language skills in the classroom. What strategies, then, can early childhood educators use to help children of families from diverse cultures be successful in this area?

Think about the four common language domains: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

To complete this assignment, do the following in a two page paper (not counting the references page):

Identify at least one strategy within each of the four domains (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) to promote the language and literacy development of young language learners.

Support each strategy with specific examples and details.

When designing data definitions, you will assign meaning to the data elements that are part of the computerized data

To keep your assigned departments moving forward, you are tasked with helping them to understand data definitions. When designing data definitions, you will assign meaning to the data elements that are part of the computerized data. If there is no definition to the data, then it is not information that discusses the following:

  • Design a list of 10 data elements related to the patient demographic information (refer back to the data sets if necessary).
  • Indicate characteristics of each example, such as date format, text, alphanumeric, and so on.
  • Define the number of characters for each data element and whether they are required data based on a data set.
Identify at least 3 possible hopes or solutions that counteract concerns about technology’s impact on democracy.

Anderson and Rainie (2020) surveyed scholars about the impact of technology on democracy. Identify at least 3 concerns expressed by these experts regarding the future of democracy in a digital world. For each concern, include a quote from an expert that you found to be important or insightful. Explain why each quote resonated with you.

Identify at least 3 possible hopes or solutions that counteract concerns about technology’s impact on democracy. For each hope or solution, include a quote from an expert that you found to be important or insightful. Explain why each quote resonated with you.

Remember to use your own words, using your best writing skills, cite your sources, and provide a reference list.

Magic for Beginners: Stories by Kelly Link

800 word minimum

We’ve discussed Link’s strong grasp of magical realism and her expert use of it to seduce the reader into entering a world of hyper realism that in turn, makes magic more believable.

Discuss how Link does this by focusing on details from the title story of the collection. Point to at least three examples of something fantastic/surreal/magical happening and two examples of intensely realistic details. Whenever possible, explain how these two aspects work in unison, as mentioned above.

Then, explain how this relates to writing fiction in the general sense of a reader-writer relationship. We discussed the importance of “suspending disbelief” in order to prevent skepticism from ruining the experience of reading magical realism, but what other kind of emotional investment does Link expect from the reader? What kind of respect does she have for the reader? Give evidence from your reading to explain your rationale.

Don’t forget an intro and a conclusion to frame your thinking in this short essay!a
