explain how you will evaluate whether the intervention is successful.

Intervention Proposal

To propose your intervention. I would much rather see you propose one good intervention and explain it well than a complex set of interventions. Choose one strategy and focus on making it concrete.

Don’t forget to explain how you will evaluate whether the intervention is successful.

Based on what you’ve read, start thinking through the intervention you will propose to the organization. An intervention is a specific program or policy change; simply educating upper management about the problem is not an intervention. Your intervention should be: (a) specific and concrete, (b) feasible, (c) supported by the research literature (that is, you should be able to cite research that backs up your assertion that this is a good idea), and (d) directly addressing the problematic outcome(s) that you identified back in your Topic Proposal Part I (or an updated outcome, if you’ve made changes since Part I).

This assignment should be between one and two pages, double-spaced.

1. Remind/update me about your problem. Give a 1-2 sentence summary of the problem you’ll be focusing on and the outcome(s) you want to change. If you’ve made any changes, give me the updated version here. (1-2 sentences).

2. Describe your intervention and support. Describe the intervention you are planning and the research/course material that supports it. You can describe in general terms for now; the purpose of this assignment is for me to see if you are heading in the right direction and give feedback before the first full draft. You should focus on one key strategy rather than a complex plan with many aspects. Make sure to cite the research and/or course material you are using to support this as an appropriate intervention and explain why you think it is a good strategy for this particular organization. (1-2 paragraphs)

3. Describe how you will evaluate your intervention. How will you test whether your intervention worked? Draw on relevant principles from class – for example, by this point you know how to validate a selection measure, evaluate a training program, etc. (1 paragraph).

Intervention Proposal Grading Rubric:

Proposing an Appropriate Intervention 4 points
You propose an intervention that is appropriate for your problem and clearly grounded in industrial psychology principles or research. You use appropriate course terms and concepts, clearly explain why this intervention should help address the problem.

Proposing a Specific Intervention 4 points
You explain one focused intervention in enough detail that I can picture what you want to do, even if not all details are fully developed.

Supporting Your Answer   3 points
You use specific citations to primary sources as well as your textbook to support your argument that this intervention is a good solution to this problem. Your citations are generally in correct APA format.

Planning Your Evaluation   2 points
You have a specific, realistic plan for how to evaluate your intervention. Your evaluation plan clearly incorporates industrial psychology concepts and ideas.

Writing Clearly   2 points
You write clearly, use an appropriate professional tone, and organize your thoughts. You proofread your paper so that there are few if any spelling or grammatical errors.

Propose a specific community event to be jointly undertaken by a campus group and a larger group with similar goals and interests.

Major Project #3

A Project Proposal for Collaboration between a Campus Group and a Larger Community Group

Goal

Propose a specific community event to be jointly undertaken by a campus group and a larger group with similar goals and interests. This will be scheduled next year, something to look forward to once we get the COVID all-clear.

Format

APA document format. 5-6 pages, not counting the title page, abstract or references page(s). The standard APA headings (Method, Discussion etc.) won’t really work this time but you have the option of heading sections in some other manner.

Audience

You can assume that you are trying to convince educated, highly motivated adults with years of expertise to consider your plan for community action. You will need to research and chose an actual organization to which your proposal will be directly addressed.

current goals, interests, activities, needs and resources.

Invention / Critical Thinking / Creativity

Once you’ve become familiar with your chosen campus group, you’ll need to imagine a plan for action that will benefit both the student group and the bigger group to whom you’ll direct your plan. You might create an event that raises funds or awareness. You might propose that both groups pool their funds to bring in a speaker. The proposal is up to you, but strive to come up with a project that will clearly benefit both groups and the greater community.

Initial Research

You’ll need to become very familiar with a specific campus organization. Interview at least one of its officers or long-standing members. Read the group’s mission statement, website and social media posts. Understand the group’s

Additional Research

Learn about your target group, the one that is not a student organization.

Once you have decided on the substance of your proposal, you’ll need to research its feasibility. Anticipate possible costs, time investments and positive outcomes. Research how similar projects have benefitted similar organizations.

Your Introduction will need to clearly summarize the proposed project and give enough context to convince the audience that the project is desirable / necessary. You’ll need to establish that you and the OU group that you represent are credible.

The body of your paper will need to break down the details of your project. Who / what / when / where and how will need to be addressed. Discuss the plan’s logistics and feasibility with logical supposition and appropriate sources. You might refer to similar projects here.

As you conclude the proposal, make your case. Make desired outcomes clear. Convince your reader that you have covered all contingencies and that the proposal’s benefits will be worth the invested resources.

As I evaluate your work, I’ll have the following concerns:

  • Is the proposal clear and feasible?
  • Is the document clear and on task, organizing information well without unwarranted repetition or tangents?
  • Is the information accurate?
  • Are all sources framed within the text and properly documented on a references page?
  • Is the writing style appropriately professional while retaining the sort of directness, clarity, specificity and sensitivity we would expect from a human being deciding whether or not to commit to your proposed project.?

  • Do surface mechanics lead to clarity rather than confusion?

Describe The Role of Maternal Parenting for Children’s Behavior Regulation in Environments of Risk
The Role of Maternal Parenting for Children’s Behavior Regulation in Environments of Risk

Paper details:

Hi all! As discussed in class, there are a couple of changes for this week. First, you’ll be posting here rather than on a discussion board to reduce any stress / anxiety about the public availability of your initial thoughts about the paper. I also added reference to a review that covers sex differences in stress-related neurobiology. This might be helpful. If you choose to read and summarize/react to that paper instead of the primary research article, that’s an option for this week too! You don’t need to do both; just one for this week is fine. As always, your assignment is to describe the reading (preferably the primary research article, but the review article listed/referenced in this module is also an option) in one page or less. This short essay should demonstrate that you spent time with the reading and put effort into understanding and processing it. It should be clear that you did more than read the title and abstract to complete this essay. It is okay if you have questions or point out parts that were difficult to approach (but hopefulhkzly you also try to approach it). https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpsyg.2020.02159/full
