The final paper must be 4 to 5 pages. The minimum is four and the maximum is five (Note however: you will not be penalized for a longer paper but you will be for one shorter than the minimum). Anything less than four pages (not including footnote/endnotes) will be graded starting at a D. The paper is doubled-spaced. See specifics on how to write and use references in the paper below. The Five Step Plan to Writing a Good Paper in Governments of the World Political Science 141 Essay topics:1. What is the connection between immigration in France and the rise of the French extreme right National Front Party? 2. Identify and explain the hybrid elements in the Russian political system that pushes it toward authoritarianism? 3. Why and how is Guanxi and its relationship to corruption a political problem (issue) for the Chinese communist party? 4. How have ethno-regional divisions affected presidential and party politics in Nigeria? For the final paper requirement in Governments of the World, you can pick one of the four essay topics presented above. Even though the topics are mostly the same as the shorter essay exercises, you do not need to use my opening paragraph. However, it is highly recommended that you follow the format. You may incorporate all or a portion of your earlier submission. You can also choose to write a completely new paper. The paper has to be between 4 to 5 pages. Anything less than 4 will be penalized. The fourth page cannot be reference page nor can it be half of a page, making the paper three and half pages. You will need at least three references. Recall that the textbook, Wikipedia, encyclopedias, yahoo, and Google are not sources but resources. Failing to meet these minimal standards and requirements will result in the paper being penalized in the grading. Below I provide an example of the 5 steps to writing a good paper. I use the example of China and corruption but the steps can be used for any of the other topics as well. Do not put steps 1-5 in the paper. In other words, do not start the paper off with, Step 1 and then put in Step 2. This is meant as a guide to help you in the organization of the paper.Step 1. The theory is the template question.a. Specify the theory by turning the question into a statement. For example: How is Guanxi connected to problems of corruption in China?Theory statement: Guanxi is about personal relations and saving face. However, many in China rely on Guanxi ties to get jobs, economic opportunities, and open doors to power and privilege by paying bribes. The thesis developed in this essay is that Guaxi contributes directly to problems of corruption in contemporary China because it allows individuals to utilize personal networks to obtain favors and other benefits not based solely on merit. Also, it undermine the party’s legitimacy in the eyes of the public.Step 2. Provide an explanation of Guanxia. In other words, explain what Guanxi isStep 3. Provide illustrations of problems of corruption in contemporary China. a. That is, provide supporting information on corruption (stylized facts)Step 4. Explore the connection between Guanxi and corruption.a. Also, discuss briefly why combating Guanxi and corruption has become central for the Chinese communist party. [Hint: the section on legitimacy in chapter three (social basis of legitimacy) could be useful. Rampant corruption is likely to erode a state and party’s legitimacy in the eyes of the public.]Step 5. Concluding statementRestate the theory and your supporting information. If you have an opinion you would like to express, this is the place to do it. This is not an opinion paper, so your personal views should not be expressed in the body of the paper. TipsWhere do I start? The textbook. For this particular example, I started with the textbook. However, even for a short essay, this is not enough. I then googled and found a treasure trove of information (stylized facts). While I used Wikipedia for more background information, I recognize that it is not something you cite in a paper. Nor is googling a citation. Googling is means of finding sources that you read and then cite. For instance, I came across this great article in an academic journal that helped me a lot in writing the essay. In addition, I found an interesting article in a newsmagazine. Also, I utilized an academic book full of useful information that aided me immensely in writing my essay. With these sources, I had more than enough information to write a good and well-informed essay. Moreover, I went to Purdue’s writing lab to make sure I had crossed all my Ts and dotted all my Is. FORMATTING/PRELIMINARIES Cover page excluded? Appropriate length? <E.g. For the second assignment, 4-5 full pages, not counting sources> Page numbers included? 1-inch margins? Appropriate spacing (i.e. Single-spaced between paragraphs, when providing block quotations, and the first page heading? Otherwise double-spaced?) 12 point, Times New Roman font? REFERENCES WOULD LOOK LIKE THIS: If you place them in the text, they should be incorporated in this way. According to John Smith (1999, p. 3) …. or Increased trade has resulted in …. earning more income from its exports (Bauer, 2003, pp. 20-23). The full citation of the reference – book, article, newspaper source is placed at the end of the paper as a bibliography. For example, John Smith 1999. The Cost of Development. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press. Or you can use footnotes. For example, According to John Smith, trade has …. resulted in increased dependency …[1] With the full citation in the footnote at the bottom of the page. [1] John Smith 1999. The Cost of Development. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, p. 3.

explain how and why the actions of the executive and/or judicial branches have personally affected your life.

Prepare: Prior to beginning your reflection this week, read chapters 5, 6, and 7 in American Government. Review the videos, Episode I – A More Perfect Union and Episode II – It’s a Free Country regarding the U.S. Constitution. Reflect: The executive and judicial branches of the U.S. national government often seem to operate independently and with little conflict. Many laws are signed by the President and then implemented without a word from the judicial branch. However, there are times when executive decisions are challenged by the judicial branch in a process called judicial review. In addition, there are times when a judicial review has direct impact on your life. For example, when the Supreme Court declared the Affordable Care Act constitutional, many people without health care insurance were finally able to purchase health care insurance. Additionally, when the Supreme Court declared sections of the Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional, some of the constraints that prevented many gay and lesbian couples from marrying were eliminated. Executive Order 13658 on February 20, 2014 also had a direct impact on many business people that contract with the federal government by increasing the minimum wage to $10.10 per hour. Clearly, the actions of the executive and judicial branches often directly affect our lives. Write: In your initial post, explain how and why the actions of the executive and/or judicial branches have personally affected your life. Fully respond to all parts of the question. Write in your own words. Support your position with APA citations to two or more of the assigned resources required for this discussion. Fully respond to all parts of the prompt and write your response in your own words. Your initial post must be 200 to 250 words. Please be sure that you demonstrate understanding of these resources, integrate them into your argument, and cite them properly.

Completely agree with the quote “Nothing has to stay the same. If a dogma is not working, no matter how strong and immovable it seems, you can cast it aside and start anew”

Completely agree with the quote “Nothing has to stay the same. If a dogma is not working, no matter how strong and immovable it seems, you can cast it aside and start anew” (Hari, 2015, p. 235). Our laws are a bit outdated and with to scientific method behind them, the drugs that are chosen to be illegal and the ones that aren’t, it is not based on any credible evidence, they aren’t illegal because they are worse for you, or the other way around they aren’t legal because they are better for you it’s all who they are associated with. The prohibition on something is never going to happen, all that will happen is cause a financial strain on the whole country because our prison will be bursting with people. This plays with the old saying if something is illegal people will want it more. Threaten drug addicts and impose severe pain on them if they continue, “this was the best way to make them wish to keep using drugs“ (Hari, 2015, p. 237).The decriminalization of drugs should be something that lawmakers should look at. Many drugs have been found to have medical use and that is why some drugs are now being legalized. This is related, in part, to evidence that drugs such as marijuana or heroin, which had been previously categorized as having no medicinal value, may have potential medical benefits (Hammond, 2020). Portugal has taken the leap of faith that no other country wanted to do and legalized all drugs. You cannot fight numbers, their drug use, drug crimes, and drug overdoses have decreased in impressive numbers which should open countries to trying the same thing. As the biggest consumer of Illicit drugs, the United States must try new tactics and take a page from Portugal the legalization of drugs might be a great option and Could also help our country financially with taxes just as alcohol helps.ReferencesHari, J. Identify which stakeholders you would involve and their roles in the evaluation process.

Utilization-focused evaluation is founded on the notion that an evaluation design must be responsive to the needs of those who will use its results. Other schools of thought may not view utilization as the driving force in the same way. Nonetheless, the point of all evaluation research is to have the findings used. For this Assignment, step back from the evaluation you have been planning for your Final Project, and think about how the results will be used. Submit a 2- to 3-page paper that addresses the following: Identify which stakeholders you would involve and their roles in the evaluation process. Identify what you see as each stakeholder’s interest in the program you selected, and in the evaluation results. Identify any ethical issues that should be considered. Determine whether you will be able to meet their needs with the evaluation you have planned so far. After thinking about your evaluation from various angles, analyze ways in which you envision the need for the evaluation and the end results being put to use. Explain any changes that this analysis suggests for the remaining sections of your design that you have already developed.

Explore the legal rights and responsibilities of the tenant and the landlord.

Larry Landlord has recently renovated an apartment and has put it on the market to be rented for $800.00 a month. Larry Landlord has been in business for approximately five (5) years and has had both positive and negative experiences with tenants. Larry Landlord is hoping to find a good, long-term tenant for his apartment. Roger Renter saw Larry’s sign for the apartment for rent and thought the location and the apartment would be perfect. Roger met Larry to look at the apartment and Roger fell in love with it. All of the interior fixtures had been replaced and the unit had a nice large closet. Roger noticed that although newly painted, the exterior of the apartment did show a little bit of wear. Because of the condition of the exterior of the building, Roger asked Larry about any roof leaks. Larry stated that he had never had a leak and was not aware of any leaks. Roger and Larry entered into a valid contract for the rental of the apartment. (Note: The issue of whether or not a contract exists is NOT part of this question. For purposes of this question assume the contract is valid and there are no issues with the contract.) Roger Renter was very happy in his new location; the apartment was quiet and the neighbors were friendly. Larry Landlord was also very happy because Roger Renter was a model tenant. Roger Renter paid on time and was quiet and respectful to other tenants. The part of the country where Roger rented was rainy in the summertime. Roger rented and moved into the apartment in October. In June, a tremendous rainstorm occurred and Roger’s roof began to leak. The leak was minor at first and Roger merely put a trash can under the leak and had no other issues that month. When handing over his monthly rent check, Roger told Larry about the small leak. Larry thanked Roger for letting him know about the leak and told Roger he would have it fixed. The next month the rains came again and the leak grew larger in Roger’s apartment. Roger was not home at the time of the rain and therefore the leak damaged some of Roger’s furniture. Roger called Larry to let him know that there was a leak and asked when it might be fixed. Roger also stated that he thought Larry had fixed the roof. Larry curtly stated, “When it rains, sometimes it pours. When it pours, sometimes it leaks.” Roger did not like Larry’s tone or response and called back to ask when the roof might be fixed. Larry stated, “When I get to it.” The following day, Roger sent Larry a note about the roof leak and asked Larry to please address the issue. The week before the rent was due, another rainstorm occurred and the leak was even larger. This time the leak damaged Roger’s clothing, furniture, and some precious items he had inherited from family members. Roger called Larry and asked Larry to fix roof immediately. Larry responded in a similar and condescending manner. Roger hung up the phone and threw his baseball bat against the wall, damaging the drywall and knocking out an electrical socket. Since it was the rainy season, Roger knew it would rain again and therefore simply moved his items away from the leak and did nothing to help mitigate the damage from the leaking roof. Larry came into the apartment to investigate the leak and found damage from not only the leak but also from the thrown baseball bat. Roger states that the baseball bat damage was a direct result of Larry’s inability to fix the leak based on his anger from Larry’s curt response. Suppose you are a mediator. In five to seven (5-7) pages discuss the rights and responsibilities of the landlord and the tenant in which you: Explore the legal rights and responsibilities of the tenant and the landlord. Decide whether or not the landlord and / or the tenant had a legal duty to mitigate damages. Determine whether or not Larry has legal grounds to evict Roger. Explain why or why not. Describe whether or not Roger has a legal obligation to pay for the damage he caused and determine whether or not Larry would be liable for any direct damage. Support each response with facts presented in the scenario.Use proper legal terminology throughout your responses. Use at least three (3) quality academic resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not qualify as quality academic resources.Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:Typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date.
