For this Assignment, you will analyze a state, federal, or global social welfare policy that affects an at-risk, marginalized, oppressed, underrepresented, or over looked group population.

Sometimes, during heated discussions and debates about social policy, the underlying reasons for the policy go unnoticed. Advocates and policymakers may become so committed to their perspectives and to winning the debates that they lose focus on the larger context surrounding an issue. The purpose of policy is to improve the lives and well-being of individuals and groups in our society. As you assume the role of a social work policymaker, consider the importance of keeping the needs and experiences of vulnerable populations at the forefront of your mind in your advocacy efforts. This can help to assure effective policy practice.

For this Assignment, you will analyze a state, federal, or global social welfare policy that affects an at-risk, marginalized, oppressed, underrepresented, or over looked group population.  Finally, consider the impact of social policy from the perspective of the group you selected.

(5-7 double-spaced pages, APA format). In addition to a minimum of eight scholarly references, which may include electronic government documents and reputable websites, your paper should include:

A description of the current policy approach for addressing the social issue you selected (HOMELESS POPULATION-SOCIAL ISSUE)

A description of the current policy goals for addressing the social issue you selected

A description of the population the current policy approach covers

An explanation of the funding levels for the current policy approach and whether they are sufficient to address the issue

An explanation of how this policy may affect at-risk, marginalized, underrepresented, overlooked, or oppressed populations.

Identify a specific at-risk population.

An analysis of whether or not the policy meets the needs of the population groups most affected by the policy.

Recommendations for alternative policies that would address the gaps identified in the policy. Please be specific in recommendations.

How you would improve security for this system.

Given the following, describe how you would improve security for this system.

There is a system containing unencrypted sensitive information (Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, first names, last names, and credit card numbers). The system, running a Windows 2008 server, is used only by employees but is on the public Internet, as employees need to access the system from home. Authentication is provided by NTLM, using username and password. The machine is currently directly plugged into its own dedicated cable modem.

Can you recommend five ways we can improve the security of this system, given a $10,000 budget? We should make sure to recommend solutions for software, hardware, and network security improvements. The data is used by 15 users and is secured using a powerful system with decent authentication.

This assignment focuses on how the management practices of planning, leading, organizing, staffing, and controlling

This assignment focuses on how the management practices of planning, leading, organizing, staffing, and controlling are implemented in your workplace. Using the University Library and other credible online resources, find three Scholarly, Peer Reviewed, and Other Credible Sources. that provide information on Amazon.com’s business structure.

Here is the scenario and situation:

Assume you are an employee working in the Amazon warehouse, and you pack orders and categorize them into small, medium, and large batches. You are considered a packer. You have experience packing all sizes and have been with the organization for two years. You are considered one of their best employees, you have a solid reputation for being a hard worker, and all of your orders are packed correctly. You have also been busy; you recently completed Amazon’s management training program, and you have completed your BABA degree.

Congratulations: You have just been promoted to manager. You will be relocated to a new plant that is two hours away that employs 100 employees. You will oversee a team of 10 supervisors and 90 packers and will now oversee the entire warehouse operation. How will you work to use and apply the five functions of management?

Now let’s apply the five functions: planning, leading, organizing, staffing, and controlling. In your paper, include the following sections:

• Planning: Examine the specific areas you will choose to manage that fall under the planning function.

o For example, what might be some of the things you will plan to do and implement to build an effective team and culture? People are the most important resource in any business, what do you plan to do to build a positive team culture? What processes and systems do you plan to use?

• Organizing: Assess if the present structure that Amazon has set up is working.

o Do you need to make or suggest any changes to make it more efficient and effective? What structure will you use and implement? Explain how you will use departmentalization in your organizational structure.

• Staffing: Analyze your staffing needs.

o How do you intend to staff your organization and replace members that leave or are promoted? How does the HR process apply? What things (if any) will you suggest?

• Leading: Justify the leadership theory (Locke’s goal setting theory, Vroom’s expectancy theory, and/or Adams’ equity theory) and style you will follow to ensure efficiency.

o Will you use transformational or transactional leadership? Why or why not?

• Controls: Identify what controls and measures you will implement.

o How will you apply the four steps of control (establishing standards, measuring performance, comparing performance, and making decisions)?

Be sure to integrate vocabulary learned throughout this course and citations from the text to support your analysis. The paper should be five to six double-spaced pages in length, must include at least three scholarly sources, in addition to the textbook, and be formatted according to APA style guidelines.

The Team Management Activity and Reflection paper

• Must be five to six double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA style.

Explore the environmental dimension of learning and suggest some specific learning activities that address this dimension.

Dimensions of Learning

Before beginning work on this discussion forum, please review the link Doing Discussion Questions Right, the expanded grading rubric for the forum, and any specific instructions for this topic.

From the bullet point list below, select one topic for which you will lead the discussion in the forum this week. Early in the week, reserve your selected topic by posting your response (reservation post) to the Discussion Area, identifying your topic in the subject line. Be specific about your topic so that someone else could select the same bullet point but focus their post differently. By the due date assigned, research your topic and start a scholarly conversation as you respond with your initial or primary post to your own reservation post in the Discussion Area. Make sure your response does not duplicate your peers’ responses.

Topic:

  • Explore the environmental dimension of learning and suggest some specific learning activities that address this dimension.

Additionally, provide a brief paragraph describing your personal experience with different learning dimensions and how that experience impacted your understanding of the material this week.

As the beginning of a scholarly conversation, your initial post should be:

  • Succinct—no more than 500 words.
  • Provocative—use concepts and combinations of concepts from the readings to propose relationships, causes, and/or consequences that inspire others to engage (inquire, learn). In other words, take a scholarly stand.
  • Supported—scholarly conversations are more than opinions. Ideas, statements, and conclusions are supported by clear research and citations from course materials as well as other credible, peer-reviewed resources.
