Patient safety culture pamphlet | Nursing homework help

Create a pamphlet using any type of publisher software you choose to educate clients on a current patient safety issue.

For example:

  • How aging adults can care for themselves at home
  • Medication–polypharmacy and how a patient cannot make a self-medication error,
  • Or other appropriate safety issues.

If you have a question about a specific topic, check with your instructor. It is recommended that you save your pamphlet as a PDF for submission.

Your pamphlet must include the following items:

  1. At least five tips for preventive care for the patient.
  2. Information that should be shared with family or caregivers.
  3. Local resources in the community that might be available for this type of safety concern.
  4. At least three APA-formatted references published within the last five years.

Explain the roles of social workers in providing palliative care.

Palliative care refers to specialized medical care that focuses on providing relief from physical symptoms and improving the quality of life of patients and caregivers. Palliative care can be provided to patients with any medical condition at any stage of illness to relieve symptoms. It can be a patient’s primary treatment (which is often the case with end-of-life care), or it can be provided in combination with standard medical treatments. Palliative care team members work alongside a patient’s medical team and can include professionals from multiple disciplines, including doctors, nurses, social workers, and chaplains.

To prepare for this Discussion:

Think about the circumstances, timing, payment, and other features related to palliative care.

Post a description of perceptions of palliative care from the perspective of a:

  • Patient
  • Caregiver
  • Social worker
  1. Then, explain the roles of social workers in providing palliative care.
  2. Compare and contrast the fundamental differences between palliative care and hospice care.
  3. Explain medical conditions where you might consider palliative care over hospice care for a patient.
  4. Justify your position. Use examples to illustrate your case.

Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the resources and the current literature using appropriate APA format and style.

Jim Crow represents a long stretch of time in our country’s post-Civil War history

Jim Crow represents a long stretch of time in our country’s post-Civil War history, yet as this week’s readings show, although Jim Crow might be officially ended, there are legacies from the era.  In particular, this week’s readings raise the issue of how stereotypes about African-Americans that were born out of slavery and the Jim Crow periods persist even today in 2022.  Reflect on this week’s readings by answering the following:

1. What does it say about race/racism in the U.S. that stereotypes from the 1800s and 1900s continue to shape the way African Americans are portrayed in the contemporary period?

2. Do you think it is dangerous for these stereotypes to persist as a legacy of Jim Crow?  How will these stereotypes, many that were formed well over a century ago, be erased?  Or, is that not something you think will happen?

Transforming nursing and healthcare through information technology

Assignment: Application: Adoption of New Technology Systems
As a nurse, you can have a great impact on the success or failure of the adoption of EHRs. It is important for nurses to understand their role as change agents and the ways they can influence others when addressing the challenges of changing to a drastically different way of doing things.

Everett Rogers, a pioneer in the field of the diffusion of innovations, identified five qualities that determine individual attitudes towards adopting new technology (2003). He theorized that individuals are concerned with:

Relative advantage: The individual adopting the new innovation must see how it will be an improvement over the old way of doing things.
Compatibility with existing values and practices: The adopter must understand how the new innovation aligns with current practices.
Simplicity: The adopter must believe he or she can easily master the new technology; the more difficult learning the new system appears, the greater the resistance that will occur.
Trialability: The adopter should have the opportunity to “play around’ with the new technology and explore its capabilities.
Observable results: The adopter must have evidence that the proposed innovation has been successful in other situations.
Note: You are not required to purchase Rogers’ book or pursue further information regarding his list of five qualities. The information provided here is sufficient to complete this Assignment. The full reference for Rogers’ work is provided below the due date on this page.

For this Assignment, you assume the role of a nurse facilitator in a small hospital in upstate New York. You have been part of a team preparing for the implementation of a new electronic health records system. Decisions as to the program that will be used have been finalized, and you are now tasked with preparing the nurses for the new system. There has been an undercurrent of resistance expressed by nurses, and you must respond to their concerns. You have a meeting scheduled with the nurses 1 week prior to the training on the new EHR system. Consider how you can use the five qualities outlined by Rogers (2003) to assist in preparing the nurses for the upcoming implementation.

To prepare

Review the Learning Resources this week about successful implementations of EHRs.
Consider how you would present the new EHR system to the nurses to win their approval.
Reflect on the five qualities outlined by Rogers. How would addressing each of those areas improve the likelihood of success?
By Day 7 of Week 6
Write a 3- to 5-page paper which includes the following:

Using Rogers’ (2003) theory as a foundation, outline how you would approach the meeting with the nurses. Be specific as to the types of information or activities you could provide to address each area and include how you would respond to resistance.
Analyze the role of nurses as change agents in facilitating the adoption of new technology.

Research a genetic disorder of your choice.

350 words needed always for discussions.  1.   Research a genetic disorder of your choice. Pick any of the 3,000 – 5,000 genetic disorders. Discuss what the disorder is, the symptoms, and how it affects an individual.  2. Also, what is the Human Genome Project, and its goals? 3. What is your thoughts on “genetic engineering” of genetic disorders.  Add your own thoughts into the discussion as well. A good site is nih.gov.  You need at least 350 words,  and always two references listed. 4.  Would you possibly have genetic engineering/splicing done if it was “safe”  related to your child having a major genetic disorder?  Answer all 4 of the questions please.  Should be interesting.

Scenario
Your company is one of several that hopes to land an international contract with MagnifiCo, a large corporation overseas. You have recently learned that Company X, who is competing for the same overseas contract, has received some negative publicity for their lack of cultural literacy among employees. An embarrassing video has gone viral showing an American employee from Company X awkwardly fumbling through a business dinner with foreign associates. First, he insulted the lack of air conditioning in the foreign restaurant, then he nervously laughed in the middle of their prayer, and finally he nearly spit out the dinner dish he was served! The business deal was doomed.

When you watched the video, you almost took pity on this American businessman clearly so out of his element. But then, you noticed in the background of the video that the entire dinner was taking place in a beautiful building; there was gothic vaulting on the ceiling, finely detailed mosaic tile on the floor, and intricate fresco painting on the wall next to their table.

There was classical music playing in the background— perhaps Baroque? If the American had noticed any of these things, he could have asked his dinner companions about them. If he had learned a little about this country’s culture, he could have even made intelligent conversation about his surroundings and possibly impressed and connected with his colleagues instead of insulting them with awkward behavior.

Instructions
You are tasked creating a learning presentation for your colleagues on multicultural art relating to MagnifiCo’s geographic location(s) to be delivered at your next office meeting. You may choose the geographic location(s) for MagnifiCo.

NOTE – Depending on your choice(s), there may be more or less distinguishing information available. For example, if you choose a large distinct nation, you may find an abundance of information for all 15 of your slides. If you pick a small isolated culture, you may need to a second or third culture in order to have enough information for 15 slides.

Design a PowerPoint presentation containing:

  • At least 15 slides, plus cover slide and reference slide.
  • One to three different possible global locations where MagnifiCo does business.
  • Include a minimum of 3 informative slides about each topic in the chosen location(s):
  • well-known artists
  • music
  • architecture
  • literature
  • cultural customs
