This enhanced technology is one of the many reasons that there has been a shift from inpatient to outpatient care. Although patients have benefited greatly from health care technology, there are also downsides to technology, such as how it has affected the cost of care. Like many of you, I love books.  The last time I changed apartments, my friends (who are engineers) calculated that I owned exactly a ton of books, 2000 pounds!  But even with that many printed books at my disposal, I spend most days reading online, or on my Kindle or iPad.

The use of health information technology (HIT) has increased dramatically over the past decade, resulting in the federal government enacting several pieces of legislation such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act of 2009. Continuing to build on your proposal for a healthcare facility from Weeks 1 and 2, you are assigned to research and discuss the following:

They knew what was happening within the organizations they lead. Additional great oversight was present with Board of Directors. So as you review “Criminal minds” think of places you have worked or organizations you have been associated with and think of what message is delivered from those at the top?
