Explain how self-reflection impacts the role of a human resource leader.

Jack Welch, former CEO, General Electric Corp.

Jack Welch’s quote summarizes the key premise of the value of gathering information to inform ongoing self-awareness and self-assessment—that becoming a more effective leader entails a journey into yourself. This includes assessing your strengths, capabilities, how you influence others, your personal leadership vision, and how you see them impacting your role as a human resource leader.

Note: You will need to incorporate results from this assessment into Assessment 4. Therefore, it is recommended that you complete this assessment before Assessment 4.

It is important to be able to understand and articulate who you are as a leader. This not only assists during times of interviews for new positions and performance reviews but also for educating others on who you are as a leader and what they can expect from your leadership.

Obtaining an informed awareness and understanding of your leadership strengths and opportunities requires gathering relevant information rather than relying solely on your own experience, perception, and intuition. Relevant data can come from surveys, online assessments, feedback from others and performance reviews, just to name a few.

Articulating these ideas for ourselves is often a challenge. Spending time preparing the clarity of your message will be useful for future career activities, as well as validation for yourself.

For this assessment you will gather relevant data to inform your understanding of who you are as leader, including your strengths, opportunities, and leadership style and articulating that effectively.

Write a 5–7 page memo to your new leader in which you identify your strengths as a leader, how this impacts your role as a human resource leader, and your personal leadership statement. You are expected to provide relevant evidence to support your definition of who you are as a leader. Because you will be discussing your own leadership experiences, behaviors, and vision, identifying yourself in the first person would be appropriate. Your paper should be well organized and cover the following elements.

Introduction.

Summarize your personal leadership strengths and capabilities. Include the following:

A minimum of three relevant leadership self-assessment sources that inform and support your claims.

References and citations for the self-assessment sources you use.

Analyze how your personal strengths and capabilities align with leadership theories for effective human resource leadership. Address the following:

The concept of influence and how your strengths and capabilities support the need to influence as a human resource professional.

Influence strategies and examples of how you have or would use them.

References and citations from relevant sources to support your discussion.

Develop a personal leadership statement. Address the following:

A statement of who you are as a leader, based on your analysis from leadership self-assessments and knowledge of leadership theories.

A statement that is concise, personal, declarative, and connects important elements that are critical for you.

The Personal Leadership Statements activity provides clear steps and ideas for articulating your vision for yourself as a leader through a personal leadership statement.

Explain how self-reflection impacts the role of a human resource leader.

Business. In this section provide a brief description of where your company fits in its industry. What products do they sell? Who are their primary customers and suppliers? Who are their main competitors? 2. Industry. In this area provide a brief description of the industry outlook. Your primary resources here are some of the publications mentioned in chapter 5 of the Gibson textbook (e.g. Standard & Poors Industry Surveys Value Line Investment Survey etc.) as well as news articles (from publications such as The Wall Street Journal New York Times Washington Post and the Financial Times). You will need a different resource for each group member. I recommend that each one of the group members reviews a different industry publication and provides a summary industry description identifying where the information was obtained. 3. Complete the FR & Comparisons worksheet in the Comparison with Industry & Peers file based on the financial statements of your company “ you can find these statements approximately in the middle of your companys 10K reports (right after or before the independent auditors report). In the Modules 10K reports area I have posted the three latest 10K reports for each company which you will need for this assignment. Specifically you need to submit the following: a) The financial summary and ratio calculations using the formula sheet (all the areas that are highlighted in yellow). b) Perform trend analysis. Using the ratios that you calculated identify the areas that show improvement and the areas of potential concern. You can describe the trends in simple terms such as improving stable fluctuating etc. c) Under the RMA Norm column list the industry median values for the subject ratios (the ones highlighted in yellow). Then compare your ratios to the industry ones and indicate whether they are better/favorable worse/unfavorable or the same. d) Compare your companys ratios to the ratios of the other company in your group; what you need to do here is to rank the ratios for your companies for the most recent year i.e. 1 or 2 with 1 being the best. You can use the last column in this worksheet to present your comparisons. 4. For your company assuming an anticipated 10% sales increase in the following year calculate the following: a. Working Assets in the most recent year that you have data for. b. Working Liabilities in the most recent year that you have data for. c. Working Investment in the same year. d. Working Investment Factor in the same year. e. New Working Investment in the following year. f. What are the companys additional working investment needs in the upcoming year? g. Can the company cover these additional needs internally? If not how much it needs from external sources? It should be noted that items a through c have already been calculated in your worksheet but they should be shown again here for comparison purposes 5. For your company provide answers to the following questions: a. Why has leverage increased or decreased during this period? b. Is your company using debt efficiently? (Use the financial leverage index ratio) c. How well is your company covering fixed charges? (Use the times interest earned the fixed charge coverage and the cash flow adequacy ratios). 6. Review your companys cash flow statement. What are your companys major cash inflows and outflows? What are their sources of cash? Where do they invest it? 7. Consider your companys Return on Equity ratio (ROE=Net Profit/Total Equity). What is the trend during this period? As developed by DuPont and shown below: ROE = (Net Profit/Total Sales) x (Total Sales/Total Assets) x (Total Assets/Total Equity) or ROE = Net Profit Margin x Total Asset Turnover x Equity Multiplier. Using these last three ratios explain the trend in the return on equity. For example if your companys ROE has declined is it due to a drop in the net profit margin (profitability problem) total asset turnover (efficiency problem) or equity multiplier (a financial leverage issue). 8. Calculate the Economic Value Added (EVA) for your company for this period assuming a 10% cost of capital. Discuss the EVA trend and provide reasons for the increases/decreases. How does this reconcile with the DuPont Analysis? (Formula: EVA = EBIT(1-T) “ (Total Invested Capital x Cost of Capital)). 9. Based on your analysis list your companys strengths and weaknesses (in bullet points). https://austessay.com/an-angel-investor-term-sheet-utilizing-the-template-which-is-posted-on-tritoned/

Garner-Wagner is considering investing in a project that requires an investment of $3,000,000. The project will generate a cash inflow of 500,000 per year for the next 5 years. The cost of capital is 10%. What is the project’s net present value?

Problem 1:NPC is considering either to invest in a project for a new product immediately or 1 year later. If NPC invests in the project today, there will be 75% chance of good market acceptance of the product and 25% chance of bad market acceptance of the product. If market reaction to the new product is good, a cash inflow of $500 will be realized each year for the next 7 years. If market reaction to the new product is bad, a cash inflow of $25 will be realized each year for the next 7 years. However, if NPC chooses to wait for 1 year to obtain more information about market tastes, the company would know definitely about the market reaction and would then either proceed with the project or not invest in it at all. The initial cost of the project is $1,500 (million). a. Assuming that all cash flows are discounted at 10%, if NPC chooses to wait a year before proceeding, how much will this increase or decrease the project’s expected NPV in today’s dollars (i.e., at t = 0), relative to the NPV if it proceeds today?b. Calculate the effect of waiting on the project’s risk, using the same data. By how much will delaying reduce the project’s coefficient of variation? (Hint: Use the expected NPV.)
Problem 2: a. Garner-Wagner is considering investing in a project that requires an investment of $3,000,000. The project will generate a cash inflow of 500,000 per year for the next 5 years. The cost of capital is 10%. What is the project’s net present value?
b. If Garner-Wagner goes ahead with this project today, it will obtain knowledge that will give rise to additional opportunities 5 years from now (at t = 5). The company can decide at t = 5 whether or not it wants to pursue these additional opportunities. Based on the best information available today, there is a 35% probability that the outlook will be favorable, in which case the future investment opportunity will have a net present value of $6 million at t = 5. There is a 65% probability that the outlook will be unfavorable, in which case the future investment opportunity will have a net present value of ?$6 million at t = 5. Garner-Wagner does not have to decide today whether it wants to pursue the additional opportunity. Instead, it can wait to see what the outlook is. However, the company cannot pursue the future opportunity unless it makes the $3 million investment today. What is the estimated net present value of the project, after consideration of the potential future opportunity?
Problem 3:a. SI is considering investing in a new product named Z-90. There is a 50% chance that the product will be a success which then generates $110,000 cash inflow each year for the next 5 years. There is a 50% chance that the product will fail which then generates $25,000 cash inflow each year for the next 5 years. The project requires an initial investment of $250,000. Based on the above information, what is the Z?90’s expected net present value?
b. Now assume that one year from now SI will know if the Z?45 has become the industry standard. Also assume that after receiving the cash flows at t = 1, SI has the option to abandon the project, in which case it will receive an additional $100,000 at t = 1 but no cash flows after t = 1. Assuming that the cost of capital remains at 12%, what is the estimated value of the abandonment option?

Explain the national guidelines regarding the health status of an individual similar to the chosen individual and why they are or are not applicable to the client. What do the national guidelines (such as, but not limited to, those published by the Centers for Disease Control [CDC], Medicare, and the National Institutes of Health [NIH]) state about the specific condition?

Throughout this course, you have been working closely with a client profile narrative. You began this journey in Module One by reviewing a short list of client descriptions from which you chose a client (Milestone One).
In Modules Two and Three, you received information regarding your selected client. For Milestone Two of your final project, submit a draft of your client analysis (Section I of the final project).
Paula, 58 years old
Paula is a 58-year-old unemployed African American female admitted to a diabetes clinic with uncontrolled diabetes. She was diagnosed with type II diabetes mellitus 18 months ago. Following this diagnosis, referrals were made by her doctor to see the diabetes coordinator for education on diabetes management, but Paula did not follow up.
Client A: Paula, 58 years oldClient B: Sally, 63 years oldClient C: Joseph 68 years oldClient D: Michael, 60 years old
Paula is divorced; her 28-year-old daughter and her 2-year-old grandson have been living with her while her son-in-law is serving overseas in the Army. Paula was an elementary school teacher for 25 years until being laid off three years ago. Paula is an active volunteer at her church along with her best friend of 15 years, Mary.
Overview
For Milestone Two, you will prepare a draft of Section I: Client Analysis of your final project. Early in this course, you selected a client to follow throughout the course and were provided with information regarding your client. You will begin by reviewing and analyzing (1) the overall health status of the individual throughout their life span; (2) key factors that have influenced the individual’s health status; and (3) the national guidelines for like individuals. The audience for this client analysis is not necessarily your client; instead, this client analysis should set the stage for your professional recommendations. This milestone is submitted in Module Three.Prompt
In Module Three, you will submit a draft of your client analysis. You will analyze the information you have been provided regarding your chosen individual client. You will review the overall health status of the individual throughout their life span, the key factors that have influenced their health status, and the national guidelines for similar individuals. The submission will have the major heading “Client Analysis.”There are three parts to this assignment. In each part, you should work to use course vocabulary and relevant research. Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed:Client Analysis: In this part of the summative assessment, you will analyze the information you have been provided regarding your chosen individual client. You will review the overall health status of the individual throughout their life span, key factors that have influenced their health status, and the national guidelines for similar individuals. The audience for this section is not necessarily your client; instead, it should set the stage for your professional recommendations. Describe the overall health and wellness status of the chosen individual.Base this on materials from the course and your previous analysis.
What condition (health, social, emotional, etc.) was the individual in when the course began? What condition is the individual in now?
Analyze the health status of the chosen individual for different key factors that may have contributed to their current health condition. For example, what risk factors are typically associated with the health condition of the chosen individual?
Explain the national guidelines regarding the health status of an individual similar to the chosen individual and why they are or are not applicable to the client. What do the national guidelines (such as, but not limited to, those published by the Centers for Disease Control [CDC], Medicare, and the National Institutes of Health [NIH]) state about the specific condition?
Why will these guidelines work or not work for your client?
What to Submit
Your draft client analysis must be submitted as a 2- to 3-page Microsoft Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, one-inch margins, and any sources cited in APA format.

Discussion Board Question 2 A 20-year-old college nursing student received the Hepatitis B vaccination series as a child. The student visited the health center for a blood test to determine if immunity exists. What is this test called (5 points)? The test confirmed that the student has antibodies for the Hepatitis B virus. What type of immunity does this describe (5 points)? Explain how the student acquired this type of immunity (20 points). The student was also born with certain immune defenses. Identify two examples of innate immunity (10 points). The student’s sister visited the health center to receive the influenza vaccine. Two days after receiving the vaccine, she developed a fever and was diagnosed with the flu. She asked the nursing student, “Why didn’t the vaccine work? Did the flu vaccine give me the flu?” How should the nursing student best answer both questions (20 points)? Respond to this student: Before I go on differentiate between Type I and Type II Diabetes Mellitus, I will first define each one. Type I Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic condition. During this condition, the pancreas secretes little to no insulin (Mayo, 2023). Insulin is an essential hormone that helps turn food into energy and controls blood sugar levels (MediLexicon, 2022). It usually shows up during childhood, but this is not always true. Many factors, such as genetics and viruses, can cause Type I Diabetes Mellitus. There is no cure for Type I Diabetes Mellitus. Type II Diabetes Mellitus is a condition that happens because there is a problem in the body regulating and using sugar as a fuel. This condition results in too much glucose circulating in the blood. These high glucose levels lead to disorders of various body systems (Atrium Health, April). They both come from different causes. Type 1 is when the pancreas does not make insulin, and Type 2 is when the body becomes resistant to insulin. Type 1 occurs in childhood, while Type 2 occurs over many years. Type 1 can experience low and high blood sugar, but Type 2 does not. Type 1 can not be prevented, but Type 2 can be avoided. There are several acute complications of hypoglycemia. Some are seizures, sweating, and palpitations to cognitive dysfunction. Some of these complications can have long-term effects on the body. There are long-term complications of hyperglycemia. These include cardiovascular disease, neuropathy, kidney failure, and damage of the retina blood vessels that lead to blindness. Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research. Explain how governmental policies related to the health and/or safety of the community affect the coordination of care.

Select a community organization or group that you feel would be interested in learning about ethical and policy issues that affect the coordination of care. Then, develop and record a 10-12-slide, 20-minute presentation, with audio, intended for that audience. Create a detailed narrative script or speakers notes for your presentation, 4-5 pages in length.

Explain how governmental policies related to the health and/or safety of the community affect the coordination of care.

Before you complete the instructions detailed in the courseroom, first select one of the following community organizations or groups: • American Nurses Association: The American Nurses Association is a professionalorganization that represents nurses and advocates for policies that improve patient care and safety.• Planned Parenthood: Planned Parenthood offers LGBTQ+ Care Coordinators who can help connect patients with resources in their community, answer questions, and provide care at their health centers.

For this assessment:

Use the Assessment 02 Supplement: Ethical and Policy Factors in Care Coordination [PDF] Download Assessment 02 Supplement: Ethical and Policy Factors in Care Coordination [PDF]to select the community organization or support group that you plan to address.

Develop a PowerPoint with typed speaker notes (the script for your voice recording) and audio voice-over recording, intended for that audience. Video is not required.

Note: PowerPoint has a feature to type the speaker notes directly into the presentation. You are encouraged to use that feature or you may choose to submit a separate document. See Microsoft Office Software for technical support about the use of PowerPoint, including voice recording and speaker notes.

For this assessment, develop your presentation slides and speaker notes, then record your presentation. You are not required to deliver your presentation to an actual audience.

Presentation Format and Length

You may use PowerPoint (recommended) or other suitable presentation software to create your slides and add your voice over. If you elect to use an application other than PowerPoint, check with your faculty to avoid potential file compatibility issues.

Be sure that your slide deck includes the following slides:

Title slide.Presentation title.Your name.Date.

Course number and title.

References (at the end of your presentation).

Your slide deck should consist of 10–12 slides, not including a title and references slide with typed speaker notes and audio voice over. Your presentation should not exceed 20 minutes.

Create a detailed narrative script for your presentation, approximately 4–5 pages in length.

Supporting Evidence

Cite 3–5 credible sources from peer-reviewed journals or professional industry publications to support your presentation. Include your source citations on a references page appended to your narrative script.

Explain an organizational or patient issue for which a collaborative interdisciplinary team approach would help achieve a specific improvement goal.

Please follow the Capella Guidelines for Effective PowerPoint Presentations [PPTX]. If you need technical information on using PowerPoint, refer to Capella University Library: PowerPoint Presentations.

Be sure that your plan addresses the following, which corresponds to the grading criteria in the scoring guide. Please study the scoring guide carefully so you understand what is needed for a distinguished score.

Explain an organizational or patient issue for which a collaborative interdisciplinary team approach would help achieve a specific improvement goal.

Summarize an evidence-based interdisciplinary plan to address an organizational or patient issue.

Explain how the interdisciplinary plan could be implemented and how the human and financial resources would be managed.

Propose evidence-based criteria that could be used to evaluate the degree to which the project was successful in achieving the improvement goal.

Communicate the PowerPoint presentation of the interdisciplinary improvement plan to stakeholders in a professional manner, with writing that is clear, logically organized, and respectful with correct grammar and spelling using current APA style.

There are various ways to structure your presentation; following is one example:

Part 1: Organizational or Patient Issue.

What is the issue that you are trying to solve or improve?

Why should the audience care about solving it?

Part 2: Relevance of an Interdisciplinary Team Approach.

Why is using an interdisciplinary team relevant, or the best approach, to addressing the issue?

How will it help to achieve improved outcomes or reach a goal?

Part 3: Interdisciplinary Plan Summary.

What is the objective?

How likely is it to work?

What will the interdisciplinary team do?

Part 4: Implementation and Resource Management.

How could the plan be implemented to ensure effective use of resources?

How could the plan be managed to ensure that resources were not wasted?

How does the plan justify the resource expenditure?

Part 5: Evaluation.

What would a successful outcome of the project look like?

What are the criteria that could be used to measure that success?

How could this be used to show the degree of success?

Again, keep in mind that your audience for this presentation is a specific group (or groups) at your interviewee’s organization and tailor your language and messaging accordingly. Remember, also, that another person will ultimately be giving the presentation. Include thorough speaker’s notes that flesh out the bullet points on each slide.

Number of slides: Plan on using one or two slides for each part of your presentation as needed, so the content of your presentation will be 8–12 slides in length. Remember that slides should contain concise talking points, and you will use presenter’s notes to go into detail. Be sure to include a reference slide as the last slide of your presentation.

Number of references: Cite a minimum of 3 sources of scholarly or professional evidence that support your central ideas. Resources should be no more than five years old.

APA formatting: Make sure that in-text citations on your slides and in your notes pages and reference slide reflect current APA Style and Format.

How would you describe your career path, and how did you reach the position you are in now?

Each team member is required to conduct one interview with an individual currently working in the student’s career of interest. This individual cannot be a family member, classmate, or fellow student at KSU.
Interviews can be conducted in person, over the phone, or via email. The objective of this exercise is to expand your professional network and learn about your career of interest. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you contact individuals working at organizations that interest you or individuals working in a job you hope to have in the future (see question #3 below, for example).
Interviews must be structured and follow the questions provided below. This is to ensure consistency, to help ease the interview process (you don’t have to come up with questions on your own), and to help with writing the executive summary. Below are the questions that should be asked during the interview:
How would you describe your career path, and how did you reach the position you are in now?
What do you believe is the most important skill or type of knowledge that is needed to be successful in your job?
For someone looking to start a career in your field of work (or “to improve my career in your field of work” if you already have a job in this area), what are the most important first steps I can take to start moving towards that goal?
This interview is part of my management class, from your experience, what are the characteristics of an ideal manager?
Following the interviews, the team is required to develop an executive summary of the information they gathered from each of the interviews. The summary should contain the following information:
What are the similarities and differences in how the people interviewed reached their current job?
What skills or areas of knowledge are needed to be successful in each job, is there a common theme across jobs?
What are the most important first steps for each job (question #3), are there any similarities or differences between jobs?
How does each person interviewed describe an ideal manager? Are there any differences or similarities?
What’s due – Each team must submit a 3 to 4 page single-spaced executive summary (not including the title page or contact information page; 5 page maximum), which summarizes each of the questions listed above based on information gathered from the interviews. Additionally, the team must include the email of the person interviewed, when the interview took place (day/month), the organization and job title of the person interviewed, and what medium (email, phone, face-to-face) was used to conduct the interview. Papers will be graded on the quality of the presentation (writing, structure, and organization) and the quality of the responses to the above questions (succinct and clear responses to the questions above).
Please note: copy/pasting text from websites directly into the paper is considered plagiarism. You can use quotes, “Like this” (Lowman, 2020), if appropriately cited. But, excessive use will result in point deductions due to a lack of original content.
