Research a Recent Data Breach Involving Databases

Discussion: Research a Recent Data Breach Involving Databases

Instructions:

In this module, we discussed how important security is when it comes to databases. As an effective database professional, you’ll need to ensure the systems and solutions you design and use are properly secured from accidental or intentional misuse. Many databases contain sensitive information, such as PII (Personally Identifiable Information, like your birth date), PHI (Personal Health Information, such as your medical history or current prescriptions), and PCI (Payment Card Information, such as your bank or credit card details). Then there are the thousands upon thousands of other data points captured about you and the world (physical and virtual) around you. All of this information is under attack – by malicious hackers seeking to profit, competitors looking for the “Next Big Thing”, or just bored kids who have nothing better to do.

In your duties, you’ll be managing and acting as a “Data Custodian.” By understanding how impactful a database breach can be, use the internet to research data breaches from the past 5 years. Focus on breaches where

  • Data was stored in a database, S3 bucket, or other online repository,
  • Data was the primary focus of the attack
  • Where that attack caused serious business or financial harm

In general, your post should include: key characteristics or facts about the attack, type of data impacted, business or financial impact. Include any lessons learned or relevant personal experiences.

The post should be roughly 3-4 paragraphs and be roughly 300-400 words long.

You MUST cite resources in APA format.

Discuss the role of the physical educator, exercise scientist, and sport leader in the physical activity movement.

Write a script for a Public Service Announcement promoting physical activity.  Include the following:

1. An opening statement to grab attention of the importance of physical activity. ( One powerful phrase or sentence)

2. Discuss the role of the physical educator, exercise scientist, and sport leader in the physical activity movement.

3. Formulate a list of strategies and next steps on what individuals can do to “lead the parade.” (Enough words to make a 1-minute voice ad)

Of the three subsystems chosen, identify the main subsystem that failed and led to the problem.
  1. Provide an overview of the chosen organization.
  2. Justify the choice of the organization.
  3. Identify the change needed and how the issue has impacted the organization.
  4. Identify three of the subsystems in the organization that relate to the needed change that was identified.
  5. Of the three subsystems chosen, identify the main subsystem that failed and led to the problem.
  6. Provide a justification or explanation for choosing the subsystem for change.

General Requirements

You are required to use at least four external scholarly sources, in addition to the textbook, to provide evidence. The rationale should be justified; this should not be completed based on an opinion. One of the sources should directly relate to the company discussed in the presentation and one to the comparison organization. These sources must be cited within the presentation, not just provided as references at the end of the presentation.

Additionally, speaker notes are required. Include detailed speaker notes within the PowerPoint presentation in the designated slide field.

While running at a leisurely pace during his training, what is the main source of fuel powering his run?

Pretend you are a sports dietitian and your client, Jonah, comes in asking for help with diet planning to improve his athletic performance. Jonah is 5 foot 10 inches, weights 170 pounds, and is a runner who is training for his first marathon. He complains that he’s been feeling fatigue during his trainings, and his goal is to maintain energy during his run to finish the marathon. He runs for about 5-15 miles a day for his training, and the runs last between 1-3 hours per run.

1. While running at a leisurely pace during his training, what is the main source of fuel powering his run? (hint: running is a moderate intensity exercise, so what macronutrients is he burning?) (1 point)

2. If he were to start sprinting, a high intensity exercise, what would be his main source of fuel? (1 point)

3. Calculate the range of grams of carbohydrate he should be consuming daily. (2 points)a. See the section on “Macronutrient needs” in the physical activity lectures for carb goals.b. Hint: recommendations are given as a range in grams per kilogram. To calculate, first convert his weight to kilograms by dividing his weight in pounds by 2.2. Then multiply his weight in kilograms by the grams per kilogram recommendations on both ends of the range. Your final answer will be a range of carbs in grams.

4. Calculate the range of grams of protein he should be consuming daily. (2 points)a. See the slides on “Macronutrient needs” in the physical activity lectures for protein goals.

5. Before his runs, Jonah typically eats a salami and cheese sandwich on white bread, a side salad of lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese with Italian dressing and a chocolate chip cookie. (2 points)a. What do you think of his pre-workout meal? b. Are there any changes you would make? (be specific in your recommendations – what would you change/recommend instead?)

6. After his runs, he typically eats 2 slices of cheese pizza, carrot sticks with hummus, and a soda. (2 points)a. What do you think of his post-workout meal? b. Are there any changes you would make? (be specific in your recommendations – what would you change/recommend instead?)

identify what this will look like and what types of resources or materials will you need to provide before you leave?

In your post, you identified that there may be an opportunity for your change project to be taken on a larger scale.  Can you please identify what this will look like and what types of resources or materials will you need to provide before you leave?  In leaving your action plan, have you been able to complete most of the action items, and if not, how will you insure these are carried out to plan?  What do you have in place to

Discuss both the positive consequences and the negative or unintended consequences of mandated reporting of child abuse.

Consequences of Mandated Reporting of Child Abuse

All human services professionals are included under mandated reporting statutes. Discuss both the positive consequences and the negative or unintended consequences of mandated reporting of child abuse. Analyze the implication of mandated reporting in delivering services to clients identifying challenges you would face in planning and providing services for clients. Ensure you include the challenges you would face during the interviewing phase of service provision.

How should we study contemporary British political history?

There is only one question for Assessment 1. All students must answer this question:

How should we study contemporary British political history?

You should write 1500 words (+/- 10%). The word count does not include the reference list. The essay is due by  2pm (or at 5pm if you are entitled to extra time through an access statement).

You should answer the question using the material covered in the first three weeks of the module. I will release lecture videos on how to write this essay on Monday. They will be found under CONTENT in the NOW room, in the section titled “Assessment 1 advice”.

Because this is a timed assessment, it has some restrictions: The dropbox closes at 2pm (or at 5pm if you have an access statement), and you cannot hand in work late – just like in an in-person exam where you would not be allowed, say, to submit your exam paper 10 minutes after everyone else. If your answer is submitted late it will be given a ZERO.

Similarly, if you need an NEC, you cannot apply for a 5 or 10 day extension – again, just like in an in-person exam you would not be allowed to apply for an extension if you could not do the exam; rather, you would have to take the exam at another time. It is the same with a timed assessment: so, if you need an NEC, you could only be granted an opportunity to take the assessment at another time, most likely over the summer.

In the letter, you must analyze how this problem impacts you personally, people in your community, people in your state, and, if a federal issue, people across the United States.

Letter to an Elected Official This assignment involves writing a clear and compelling two-page letter to an elected official identifying a federal or state policy problem that is meaningful to you, proposing a solution to the problem, and conducting and interpreting research to bolster the letter. In the letter, you must analyze how this problem impacts you personally, people in your community, people in your state, and, if a federal issue, people across the United States. You must recommend at least one legislative solution. You can create your own original legislative solution, or you can support or oppose a portion of a bill that is currently pending before Congress or the state legislature. You must support your solution with data and examples from at least two outside sources (books, journals, reliable internet sources) and discuss why your solution is better than other options. All outside research must be properly cited. The letter must be 500 words in length.
