See below example

Why is the issue of children in poverty important?

Over 730,000 children in Australia are living in poverty, with children in single parent families three times more likely to be at risk compared to children in couple families. Children growing up in poverty can experience developmental delays that affect their future academic success and life chances as an adult.

What can be researched?

At least 10 articles between 2016-2022 that would showcase what has been done on the policy topic so far in Australia. Use key words such as Child Protection policy in Australia and Children, Domestic violence and Housing policies in Australia.

Whichever topic you use, you can draw on two competing concepts and include the term policy in your conceptual review of the social problem.

For example, I am interested in multicultural communities and ageing policy, I would start by searching these two terms simultaneously in the search engine to maximise my search opportunities.

There are many types of pets a human can choose, but is there a better choice?

Assignment Instructions

This week, you will write a persuasive research paper. A persuasive paper is an essay used to convince a reader about a particular idea or focus, usually one that you believe in.

Your persuasive essay could be based on anything about which you have an opinion. Whether you’re arguing against junk food at school or petitioning for a raise from your boss, the persuasive essay is a skill that everyone should know. Here is a great article if you need some ideas to get started: https://www.time4writing.com/writing-resources/writing-resourcespersuasive-essay/ (Links to an external site.).

To write a persuasive essay, you can follow this outline:

  1. Introductory Paragraph
    • Grab the reader’s attention by using a “hook.”
    • Give an overview of the argument.
    • Close with a thesis statement that reveals the position to be argued.
  1. “Body” Paragraphs That Provide Support For Your Argument (while three “points” are listed here, you’ll need more paragraphs than that in order to meet your page count)
    • Side A – All the facts and reasoning that supports your paper’s argument
    • Side B – What is the counterargument, and why is it incorrect or why does it not discredit your argument
    • Remember not to “speak” in your paper with personal pronouns (like “I” or “my”,) as you want your paper to speak to the reader, not you personally
    • Each body paragraph should focus on one piece of evidence.
    • Within each paragraph, provide sufficient supporting detail.
  1. Concluding Paragraph
    • Restate and reinforce the thesis and supporting evidence.

Here’s an example of the structure for this essay:

1.     Introductory Paragraph

·

o   “There are many types of pets a human can choose, but is there a better choice? Cats and dogs both have their benefits, but Cats are better because they are easier to care for.”

1.     Supporting “Body” Paragraphs

·

o   Side A – Cats are better, and why.

o   Side B – Why some people say Dogs are better, and why this is incorrect.

1.     Concluding Paragraph

·

o   “After reviewing all the evidence, it is clear that Cats are better because…”

Here is a sample of a topic you might choose to write about (though you can choose another medical topic, if you prefer): “Nursing is a Woman’s Job”

You can use the LIRN to find sources which support your paper (remember, you can choose your own topic or use the above example.)

  • To get to the LIRN database search engine, click on the “Library” link in your Canvas Course Page, and then click “Go to the course.”
  • From the left-side list of links, click “LIRN Library.” Now you have a page from which you can search all the LIRN databases.

This essay has the following requirements.

    • 12 pt, Times New Roman, double-spaced, 1 inch margins
    • Avoid personal language/references (see the Week 6 reading for tips)
    • The title page on this student sample paper is how yours should look: https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_formatting_and_style_guide/apa_sample_paper.html (Links to an external site.)(Links to an external site.)

Fentanyl has become one of the most prominent drugs found in drug samples analyzed by drug laboratories. What other illicit drug is fentanyl usually found in combination with?

Description

For this discussion question, read pages 3-25 of the 2020 National Drug Threat Assessment (contained in this week’s learning resources) and answer the following questions: 1. DEA Field Divisions seized a total of 6,951 kilograms of heroin in 2019. How did this quantity compare to heroin seizures in 2018? In what states were the largest amounts of seizures made? What is the significance of seizures primarily occurring in these states and what impact would these seizures have on heroin markets in other areas? 2. Fentanyl has become one of the most prominent drugs found in drug samples analyzed by drug laboratories. What other illicit drug is fentanyl usually found in combination with? Why would fentanyl be combined with this drug? How has this combination impacted overdose deaths? 3. None of the fentanyl or heroin in the illicit drug market is produced domestically; yet, overdose deaths from these two drugs continue to be the primary threat in our communities. Given these facts, and using the NDTA, where is the majority of the heroin and fentanyl in US drug markets coming from and in what percentage of the total US market? How are the drugs getting from the source country into the US? 4. State and local law enforcement agency drug units have very little direct impact on the drug supply at the international level; yet, the information that these units have from their drug investigations is critical to the overall intelligence assessment. How are state and local narcotic unit detectives able to conduct and participate in investigations that can directly impact Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs) who smuggle drugs into the US? Given an example of a case that was investigated jointly with the DEA and state and local detectives. Ensure you write each question down before answering. gives much detail as possible Copy and paste the link to answer the question above https://www.dea.gov/sites/default/files/2021‑02/DIR‑008‑ 21%202020%20National%20Drug%20Threat%20Assessment_WEB.pdf
