conduct a research project about Hong Kong-Shenzhen bridging program in English Language Teaching (primary schools) 2022.

Background of the research paper:

You will be given a chance to distribute a questionnaire to conduct a research project about Hong Kong-Shenzhen bridging program in English Language Teaching (primary schools) 2022. This program has been organized and financialized by both HKSAR and Shenzhen Education Bureaux for almost 10-consecutive-year.

You need to design a questionnaire so that you can send it online to collect data from the participants (i.e. English teachers in primary schools in Shenzhen and Hong Kong) during this program.

Your research topic and proposal should be related to English Language education in Shenzhen, China. You may include Hong Kong if you wish.

Your content of your research depends on the direction of your research proposal and how you set your questionnaire. For example, your research can be related to English teaching and learning / teaching development in primary schools in China.

After distributing your questionnaire online and collecting data from the primary school teachers, you are expected to write a research paper at doctoral level.

Guidelines of your research paper:

You are advised to include the following elements in the following order: title; abstract; keywords; main text introduction, research questions, methodology and account of investigation, results, discussion; references.

Your paper should be around 6000 words (N =2000-3000), inclusive of the abstract, tables, figure captions.

Your paper should include an abstract of 150-200 words and between 3 and 6 keywords.

You are expected to include at least 30 references.

You can include your Appendix after your References.

You need to demonstrate the skills you learnt in your “UCL Statistics and Research Methods” course. It is up to you to decide your statistical tools for your analysis.

You should refer to the essay format and organisation in the sample “Why choose to become a teacher in China? A large-sample study using the Factors Influencing Teaching Choice scale” (both PDF and WORD format available).

—————————————————–End————————————————————–

My initial ideas:

I found that the article “The importance of English in primary school education in China_perceptions of students” may be useful.

I have come up with a tentative topic below:

The Importance of English in Primary School Education in China: Perceptions of Teachers

Please see if my tentative topic makes sense and doable. If not, please feel free to change it.

I have also drafted the outline (see attached) and distributed the questionnaire (see the link in my research proposal) to the participants. However, since I only got 8 responses. Please make up the data so the sample size (N) can be between 2000-3000.

Please feel free to change the questions in the questionnaire too because there may be content and grammatical errors when you write the paper.

Why is there a scarcity of financial resources in the hospital to cater for adequate employees’ salaries?

Prolonged Hospital Stays

Prolonged hospital stays (LOS) continue to be a significant concern in many hospitals worldwide, with substantial consequences for patient safety, treatment quality, and overall health outcomes. Delaying patients in the hospital for longer than necessary, the costs, dangers, and levels of patient dissatisfaction all increase. Long-term hospitalization is expensive, particularly for young people. It is one of the most challenging challenges hospitals face in many countries, ensuring that there is no holding of patients in the hospital for too long. When a hospital stay is appropriate, it indicates tailoring the patients’ medical needs. This review uses the 5-analysis to solve patient care due to more extended hospital waiting time.

The average length of stay was 100 minutes to our observations. According to Chang et al. (2020), the management and employee are significant factors associated with the duration of stay. Using a Fish Bone Diagram, we examined several latent organizational factors that prolonged this time. We arranged the components into five main groups using the Fish Bone Diagram approach: registration, workers, management, patients, and equipment concerns. The variables were classified using surveys, patient feedback, and observation. Hospital occupancy rates are often associated with long wait times at the organizational level. Management and staff seem to be two of the most critical difficulties, with a total wait time of 80 minutes. The amount of time spent waiting is affected by organizational difficulties such as standardization and process, communication failures, documentation of files, and workload.

5-Why Analysis

The problem

Increased waiting time

Why 1

Registration takes long

Why 2

Patients take more time

Why 3

Management takes more time

Why 4

The employee takes more time

Why 5

Equipment’s delayed the waiting time

Patients’ waiting time is increasing owing to the lack of pens and professionals to assist them in filling out papers. The engagement of more workers to assist in filling out forms should address this problem. Hospitals should restrict unnecessary visits, and more employees should be employed to meet the increased demand. Supervision of managers should be done appropriately to guarantee their quality of work. To decrease the amount of time patients spend waiting, there should be an increase in the workforce to remove redundant responsibilities. Hospitals should improve communication and digitize paperwork. The procurement of new equipment should accompany the replacement of obsolete equipment. Hospitals should outsource the profession to repair any damaged equipment. Overall, there will be a reduction of up to 20 minutes of waiting time by implementing these measures.

ANALYZE PHASE OF THE PROJECT.

Identifying the Root Causes using the 5-Whys Analysis

Registration

  1. Why is there an increased waiting time in the hospital?

– Because of the much time is taken during the registration process.

  1. Why is much time wasted during the registration process?

-Because there are no staff to assist the patients in filling the registration forms

Project Authorization/Charter Template

Once you have defined the problem, use this simple charter document to communicate and confirm the agreement between the problem-solving team and management.

Prepared by Name
Date Issued
Project Name Improvement project
Purpose of Project Healthcare to reduce waiting time in hospital and private practice
Business Case/Need

(Business reasons for the project)

– The project will outline different ways in which hospital and private spaces will reduce the waiting time used by the patients.

-Hospitals and private practices will be able to increase their stability in terms of finance when waiting time is reduced (ASQ,2015).

Functional Areas Involved -Finance and accounting

-Research and development

-Management

-Technology and equipment

Suppliers to the Process -More physicians

-practitioners

Project Scope (start/end) – Delegate documentation to other trained staff: It will involve the interaction of the patients instead of completing time-consuming documentation. The project will implement a team care model where there will be help given in documentation by the clinical assistant.

-Design a survey to identify bottlenecks: The survey will play an essential role as the survey will track each patient’s timeline from arrival to exit. It will include the time taken with the doctor and the time taken at the reception or the exam room (Landi, Ivaldi & Testi, 2018).

-Embrace telehealth solutions-In for the project. One of the best telehealth that can be used is e-visit which can streamline the patient’s records and late arrivals and prevent no-shows. The use of telehealth might be one solution which leads to the path of no wait, mainly in the future care model.

– Collect the patient’s information in advance: By collecting the patient information earlier, more time will be created, and a patient will not have to wait for a more extended period.

-Communicating with the patient about the delays: Communicating and reaching out to the patient will help in the reduction of waiting time. The patient needs to know if the hospital is running late (McIntyre & Chow, 2020).

-Implementation of pull system: In the project, there will be an implementation of the pull system, which will help by speeding up the services given to the patients.

-Making time reduction in the hospital a culture-People will always embrace a culture if it is implemented and reducing waiting time need to be the priority for all the healthcare activities. Hospital and private practices need to use specific policies to address the problem of waiting time.

Not included in Scope -Implementation of mobile queue solutions: With advanced technology, the tool of mobile will be a great way to reduce patient waiting in line and make them happy. Some applications like Qless can be helpful as it allows the patients to let the staffs know if they are behind (Improta et al.,2019).

-Incorporating patient preferences-The project will try and focus on all the patients through the help of the providers. The hospitals need to focus on identifying the leading solution that will help meet all the patient’s needs.

Project Goal(s)

(What is it intended to achieve?)

– To maintain the use of the patient flow management system.

-Prepare the medical staff for examinations before the arrival of the patients.

-To Upload all the copies of the report and the previous patient’s medical history.

-Used the data provided to schedule the test needed before the examination of the patient.

-To enforce different policies on late arrivals.

-Make sure there is a separation between phone work and all the check-ins.

-Using alternate methods of care delivery.

Estimated Cost $ $340 million
Timeline and estimated project completion date -January 8th 2023
Estimated Savings $ -$24 million
Final Deliverable(s) – Delegate documentation to other trained staff

– Design a survey to identify bottlenecks

– Embrace telehealth solutions

consider how to avoid failure of the product or process through Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).

During the Improve Phase of the DMAIC process, you improve the process by eliminating defects. In previous weeks, you have selected the appropriate solution to the problem, implemented the solution, and will now consider the effects of the solution.

During this phase, you consider how to avoid failure of the product or process through Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA). The FMEA is a risk assessment tool with a goal of “mistake proofing” the process. Through the structured approach of an FMEA, improvement teams identify possible ways in which a product or process can fail, examine the subsequent effects, analyze the severity of those potential failures, and consider the likelihood of occurrence. FMEA can also be used to rank and prioritize the possible causes of failures as well as develop and implement preventative actions (isixsigma, 2015).

To prepare:

  • Review Learning Resources
  • Consider effects of the suggested improvement during this phase and compare with the baseline (initial current state) data to determine if the solution improved the process

Submit by Day 7

Submit the Improvement Phase of your project. This includes the following:

  • Measure the effects of the suggested improvement during this phase and compare with baseline (initial current state) data to determine if the solution improved the process. Use the same key process outcome variables for comparison that you measured in the Measure Phaseof the project. When comparing the two data sets, use means, standard deviations, capability, run charts, non conformance to customer requirements, or other appropriate statistical measures of process performance. Submit your results.
  • Failure Mode & Effects Analysis

100 Surveys taken you can make up the data for baseline and after the implementation of Lean Sigma Six

Critically discuss the structure, aims and practices of penal institutions in England and Wales
Learning outcome How to meet the learning outcome Tips for completion
LOC1: Critically discuss the structure, aims and practices of penal institutions in England and Wales You will need to include in your essay commentary on the structure and work of that part of the penal system that you are discussing for the question. The topics provided in the list relate to a change (or proposed change) in the structure, aims or practice /work of the penal system. This means you should automatically be writing about the right thing, but then you need to do so critically – see the right-hand box. When setting out what your essay is about in the introduction you will need to define and explain the area of the penal system you are discussing. In doing this you should briefly explain the structure of the system as appropriate to your topic, for example, if you chose prison privatisation you need to explain to what extent our prison estate is privatised, and what this means in practice (private prisons are contracted out and still overseen by the state). You should also refer in the essay to the aims of the penal system where appropriate. For example, if you choose to write about prisoner votes, you may want to explore how this may be argued to relate to various aims, particularly as related to rehabilitation, perhaps.

It may be that you want to juxtapose working practices with aims and structures or policies (i.e. practices are at cross-purposes to aims and that relates to an aspect of the penal crisis), or perhaps to explain how working practices serve to implement (or not) the aims of the organisation, again problems may relate to the penal crisis (most likely the crisis in legitimacy). This is how you will explore what the crisis means in relation to your topic and how it will address this/these elements of the crisis.

LOC4: Critically consider likely futures for key penal institutions and measures You will need to demonstrate in the essay that you appreciate how the relevant area of the penal system (or the whole penal system) may develop in the future. In answering the question you will need to show your critical awareness of how trends or current policies or practices may develop in the future and the impact this may have for the system in addressing aspects of the penal crisis (and so not being in crisis anymore, or less in crisis, at least!).

You should base your views on how the topic you have chosen will impact on the system in the future based on research and/or theory.

Analyse if the introduction of prison units for transgender prisoners can help reduce problems associated with the Penal Crisis?

Assessment Outline

This 2,500-word essay assignment 1 is based on part 1 of the module (please refer to the module lecture schedule on Brightspace or in the module handbook). It is worth 40% of the module mark.

Essay Question:

Analyse if the introduction of prison units for transgender prisoners can help reduce problems associated with the Penal Crisis?

Assessment criteria

How to meet the outcomes/criteria
This assignment addresses the following module learning outcomes (LOC):

The essay question and topic options are designed to ensure that you meet the learning outcomes. So it is important that in this assignment that you:

·       Stay focussed on what is asked of you.

·       Answer the question fully and thoroughly, drawing on strong quality academic and/or authoritative sources.

·       Ensure you are critical of the issues by:

o   considering different theoretical or ideological perspectives (e.g. pluralist v orthodox, or political view points);

o   considering a range of evidence of effectiveness to consider pros and cons/strengths and weaknesses;

o   considering the likely implications/future of the estate (or part of the estate you are discussing for your topic).

LOC1: Critically discuss the structure, aims and practices of penal institutions in England and Wales.

This learning outcome specifically asks for you to show that you can critique the way in which the system is structured/organised and works to achieve particular aims of the system.

Here, you do not have to set out the entire penal system, only that part related to the topic you choose to answer the question about. I am looking for you be able to explain how that bit of the system works and the issues of concern or advantage around it (using both theoretical perspectives on the strengths and weaknesses as well as research or official data evidence). Where there is little research/data evidence on effectiveness in England and Wales (normally because we have not yet implemented the idea, or only have done so in a limited fashion, or very recently), then you can draw on the experience of other countries to consider critically if this would work in our system – bearing in mind that the country may be different culturally (and around ideas of what is justice) and also in terms of their criminal justice system structures.

Criticality here is about critiquing if things work or not to reduce the penal crisis in key ways (it may be that it helps in some ways, but not others). This critique is based on theoretical arguments and perspectives as well as research evidence. You need both for this level of study.

LOC4: Critically consider likely futures for key penal institutions and measures This learning outcome specifically asks you to write about the likely futures of the system in respect to the topic you have chosen. By this, what I am looking for is for you to use the research evidence or official data relating to the topic to consider if it can in the future help address the penal crisis in some way – what impact on the penal system and penal crisis would doing this, implementing it, or going further in that direction have?

Again, the criticality here is important for this level of study and as before we are seeking that criticality through considering different interpretations and perspectives on the data or theory related to the topic you have chosen to write about, and supporting your work well.

examine the role that the two concepts play in attaining a sustainable future while enabling restructuring to improve the fashion sector.

Sustainability remains a widely researched subject area with a significant volume of researchers focused on environmental sustainability. However, recent years have seen scholars engaging more on the sustainability of specific industries, including the fashion industry. The wasteful aspect of the fashion industry and its contribution towards pollution have become essential components of modern research that scholars seek to investigate further (Wilson, 2021). The study in this area aims to result in better approaches to the fashion industry to build a sustainable future. Options, including collaborative consumption, have emerged from the same (Arrigo, 2021). The fashion industry in the UK and globally have embraced collaborative consumption to address the growing challenge of sustainability in the industry. These have resulted from consideration of options such as upscaling and resale platforms. Upcycling has made it possible to improve old fashion products to create new designs and products that impact the industry positively while encouraging future sustainability. The creation of resale platforms has also focused on developing options for dealing with waste and pollution in the fashion industry. A further understanding of the two concepts drives this research. The researcher seeks to address the research question centered around the contributions of upcycling and resale in the fashion industry, also looking at the role these will play in the industry’s sustainable future. Aim and Objectives This qualitative research will explore the potential benefits associated with upcycling and resale platforms in the fashion industry. The researcher aims to examine the role that the two concepts play in attaining a sustainable future while enabling restructuring to improve the fashion sector. Attainment of the above aim will rely on the specific objectives, including to: • Assess the potential of upscaling in ensuring a sustainable future for the fashion industry. • Examine the benefits associated with campaigns in the fashion industry and their role in achieving sustainability (Fashion Acts Now campaign by Sara Arnolds). • Analyze the impact of resale platforms on the fashion industry and the environment as part of a sustainable future for the sector.
