Integration Project Presentation (85%)

You must produce and deliver an individual presentation of no more than fifteen minutes in length that includes:

•An introduction justifying the project and its business benefit

•Requirements

◦An evaluation of the techniques for gathering project requirements, identifying one or more suitable techniques for use. Careful thought should be given to how disagreement in requirements will be settled and how requirements will be validated.

◦Identifies and clearly states key requirements for the project and documents these in a recognised format.

•Data:

◦Maps data between the systems, clearly identifying what needs to be transferred, why, outlines semantic meaning and allowable values.

◦Identifies data transforms (i.e. where data is not identical what you will do to make it match the target system).

◦Identifies how invalid data will be dealt with at both ends.

◦What quality issues there are with the data and how this will be addressed? How will quality be maintained?

•An architectural diagram should be provided showing how the system operates on a conceptual level and what IT infrastructure is needed to support the proposed system. This should be supported by appropriate justification.

•Implementation plan

◦A detailed plan for implementation should be presented.

◦A justified testing strategy.

◦A roll-out plan indicating key milestones.

◦A justified, roll-out communications strategy.

Housekeeping

•All of the above should, where appropriate, be supported by cited references in the Harvard style.

•The presentation slides must be professional in appearance and free from errors.

•You must personally present your slides and answer questions on your work.

Assessment Details:

Title: Integration delivery plan

Style: In person progress vivas and presentation

Rationale:

All organisations have disparate electronic systems that hold isolated pockets of data. On their own, the systems are useful, but integrated systems offer huge advantages in savings of time, money and reduced errors. In this assessment you will apply the skills gained in this module to develop a plan to integrate two such information systems.

Description:

The University of Southern Basingstoke wishes to integrate its student record system (SRS) with its virtual learning environment (VLE). The University has 10,000 students and 700 members of staff.

The SRS is a COTS product, that has been customised for their use by a third-party integrator. This supports all records regarding students such as contact details, enrolments, fees, marks and attendance data. This is the authoritative source of this data. As it currently stands, all data is entered manually into the system, irrespective of its source. The SRS is managed and run the by the University registry.

The VLE is where all student teaching takes place. Learning materials are available from this platform, and assessments are submitted electronically. Marks and feedback are delivered back to the student using this platform. Currently, academics must manually transcribe the marks from this system into a spreadsheet which is then further manually transcribed into the SRS. The VLE is run by the University Learning Technology Team.

The proposed system will communicate mark data from the VLE to the SRS. It must take into account business rules such as the capping of late work and ensure that before the marks are transmitted they have been signed off by a second academic as being accurate. The exact process and method are to be decided by the project itself.

Critically examine the impact of one determinant of health on the given scenario from your field of nursing practice.

Critically examine the impact of one determinant of health on the given scenario from your field of nursing practice. Other information Consider the case study that has been given to you which is based on a patient/service user from your field of nursing practice. Your assignment will focus on one determinant of health and will critically explore this determinant in terms of the individual, as well as the wider sociopolitical and economic context. Current evidence and policies in relation to the social determinant and its potential impact or relationship to the individual in the case study should be utilised to support this work.

The case studies

The next three slides highlight the case studies- Please ensure you refer to the case study that has been set for your field of nursing! Learning Disability Mental Health Adult Field Learning Disability

Gladys is a 55-year-old female, who lives in Newham, London. She was born in the UK. Gladys used to enjoy Bingo twice a week but has stopped going since her husband died 5 years ago. She now lives alone in a bungalow. She has one niece, who lives 50 miles away. Gladys has a diagnosis of a mild learning disability. Her niece has noticed when talking to her that she has been suffering from memory loss and has requested on Gladys’ behalf a dementia screening assessment with the local learning disability team. Gladys is not engaging with the health services for this assessment and there are concerns that Gladys has started to ‘see’ images of her late husband, which she has communicated to her niece when they speak. Gladys receives some social benefits and is fearful about going out because of the high incidence of COVID-19 in the area of London and not feeling secure without her husband or niece with her. Her niece is unable to visit her due to the distance between them but will complete her food shopping online for her and get this delivered directly to Gladys home. Mental Health Gladys is a 78-year-old female, who lives in Newham, London. She was born in the UK. Gladys used to enjoy Bingo twice a week but has stopped going since her husband died 5 years ago. She now lives alone in a bungalow. She has one daughter, who lives 50 miles away. Gladys suffers from Schizophrenia and sometimes ‘sees’ images of her late husband on the few occasions that she went out to walk her dog. She is currently on a high dose medication, and has been on different antipsychotics in the past, and her symptoms have never been fully managed. She also suffers from constipation, dizziness and periodic tremors caused by her medications. She tries hard to exercise but has put on nearly 12kg weight over the last 14months. Gladys used to work as an NHS cleaner and is now in receipt of government pension. She feels isolated and vulnerable – fearful of going out because of the high incidence of COVID-19 in the area of London. Her only daughter is unable to visit her due to the distance between them but supports her to do her food shopping online. Adult Gladys is a 78-year-old female, who lives in Newham, London. She was born in the UK. Gladys used to enjoy Bingo twice a week but has stopped going since her husband died 18 months ago. She now lives alone in a bungalow. She has one daughter, who lives 50 miles away. Gladys suffers from lymphoedema and has a leg ulcer which is dressed weekly by the tissue viability (TV) nurse at the leg ulcer clinic. Due to COVID restrictions, she has been unable to leave the house and has been missing her routine leg ulcer clinic appointments. Her daughter noticed that she has been suffering from memory loss and Gladys is under investigations for a suspected dementia diagnosis. Additional information • In examining and selecting one determinant of health you may consider any of the following: the individual, their biopsychosocial factors and any associated lifestyle factors, the broader community provision and social networks surrounding that individual; their living and working conditions and the wider socio-political, economic and cultural contexts. • The current context of health and healthcare provision in the United Kingdom and how this might impact on the individual should also be considered. • Critique evidence from a range of sources for example, NICE, the Department of Health, Public Health England, the King’s Fund, World Health Organisation and other peer reviewed sources and publications. • Demonstrate use of empirical research literature that informs your understanding and analysis of the context of this determinant of health

Demonstrate critical awareness of a range of methodological approaches used in research in their field of study
