identify the impacts if an investigator does not ‘get it right’

Crime Scene Management

Discussion: Chapter 9, Topic 3 “Evidence Management” includes several very important topics. Pick ONE of the following topics for your discussion: (1) Contamination of Evidence; (2) Loss of Continuity (aka Chain of Custody); or (3) Originating Stages of Evidence (Pre Crime, Criminal Event, and Post Crime). For the topic you select in your initial post you should:

  • describe/define that topic for the reader and include citation/source information
  • explain the importance of your topic in the overall investigation process
  • identify the impacts if an investigator does not ‘get it right’

For example, in discussing contamination of evidence, you need to define what that means, how it occurs, what challenges there are to minimizing it, and what outcomes can occur if it isn’t done right. Is it loss of evidence? Potential identification of the wrong suspect?, etc.

Requirements:

Your initial post should be a minimum of 250 words.

  • All initial posts should reference the textbook or at least one outside source. All sources must be cited using APA guidelines. Posts received after 11:59 p.m. ET Sunday of the discussion week, will be deducted points

Which areas of the value chain do you think should be included in calculating product costs? Why?

Accounting/discussion 1

The value chain includes costs associated with research, product design, production, marketing, sales, distribution, and customer support after the sale.

Which areas of the value chain do you think should be included in calculating product costs? Why? Where would the other costs be reported (if at all)? What is the cost behavior based on the variability of cost variances and revenue volatility?

explain how that type of forensic evidence can be applied in an investigative (what types of crimes it is associated with, how does it move an investigation forward)

Forensic Evidence

Discussion: Pick ONE of the Forensic Evidence Topics from Chapter 10 to discuss. In your initial post

  • describe and define the topic you have selected (including citation and source information)
  • explain how that type of forensic evidence can be applied in an investigative (what types of crimes it is associated with, how does it move an investigation forward)
  • discuss any strengths or weaknesses in that type of forensic evidence (is it hard to collect? how difficult is it to get analyzed? how conclusive is it?)

For example, if you have multiple shooting incidents where casings are recovered ballistic evidence can be useful in connecting crime scenes together, but without a recovered firearm, eyewitnesses accounts video of the crime, etc – how useful is that ballistic information? Plus, how easy is it to get that evidence to the right location to get it analyzed and compared? etc.

Requirements:

  • Your initial post should be a minimum of 270 words. .
  • Failure to do so will result in a deduction in points.
  • All initial posts should reference the textbook or at least one outside source. All sources must be cited using APA guidelines.

Explain how arrays can be used within your choice.

A middle school has decided that it would like to make its students’ grades available to their parents via an online parent portal. In addition, this system will allow for important announcements to posted. The school has decided that a system will be developed inhouse to complete this project. in doing so, a number of processes need to be identified during the planning of the project.

Some of the processes for teachers can include:

Logging in to the system

Uploading grades

Posting announcements

Some of the processes for parents can include:

Log on to the system

Accessing and reading important announcements

Viewing student’s grades

Sending an e-mail to the student’s teacher via the system on questions regarding the student’s grades

Based on the scenario, choose any of the processes, for teachers or for parents, and complete the following tasks to create a report in a Microsoft Word document:

Define the problem and the current need in the given situation.

Create a hierarchy chart depicting the chosen situation.

Develop a flowchart and provide a brief explanation for it.

Develop an algorithm and provide a brief explanation for it.

How do people convey their desires and commitments through the genre of the Manifesto?

How do people convey their desires and commitments through the genre of the Manifesto? What work does the Manifesto do to constitute a meaningful “we,” to identify a problem, and to propose meaningful responses to that problem? What do manifestos tell us about the political, material, and social context in which they emerge? How are manifestos capable of inspiring people to take action in the world? Reference at least two of the assigned readings

Explain clearly if your proposed solutions are designed to impact the demand or the supply side of the problem.

Many public policy problems are problems of there being too much or too little of something. This implies that policy solutions that address such problems can be designed to affect either the demand or the supply. For example, to address the problem of high gas prices, policymakers could try to increase the supply (e.g., offer incentives to increase domestic production, reduce/eliminate regulations aimed to protect the environment) or decrease demand (e.g., promote energy conservation, offer consumer rebates to buy electric cars).

Report on a current public policy problem (e.g., something discussed in the media) and propose at least two potential solutions to this problem. Explain clearly if your proposed solutions are designed to impact the demand or the supply side of the problem.
