The first is figurative language using similes. This convention helps the reader further visualize the imagery in the text. It helps to paint a picture so the message can be clearly conveyed. It plays a big part in the setting, as the reader has something else to compare it to and understand the concept better. This convention is most associated with logos. An example in Thoreau’s text is, “When other birds are still the screech owls take up the strain, like mourning women in their ancient u-lu-lu” (Thoreau 87).2. The next convention is exaggeration as this also helps the reader further visualize the setting. It also stresses a certain point and highlights it to be important. This is a big part of the author’s style as it is not a factual sentence. Most used as logos Thoreau uses it, “here comes the cattle train bearing the cattle of a thousand hills” (Thoreau 86). Obviously there are not a thousand hills worth of cattle but it gets the point across that there are a lot of cattle on this train. 3. The last convention is negative diction. Thoreau uses this quite a bit to degrade the incoming railroads. This convention helps explain the purpose of the text as the reader gets a better idea of how the author feels towards certain matters. This is a stylistic matter that also falls into logos. Thoreau uses it to say, “I will not have my eyes put out and my ears spoiled by its smoke and steam and hissing” (Thoreau 86). Using the words spoiled and hissing makes the train seem of malintent further building up how we should feel towards the the train.

Response to Anna Valdez:Nursing research is beneficial in that it helps in the provision of evidence-based treatment to patients. The research includes the collection of data on different issues affecting healthcare, developing solutions, and trying new treatment approaches before fully implementing them into healthcare. A majority of patients are benefiting from evidence-based care that focuses on quality improvement and eventually efficiency with regards to healthcare costs. Evidence-based practices in nursing are beneficial to patients before, during, and after undergoing surgical procedures. One of the areas of concern to nurses is the patients? experience with post-operative pain, which can significantly affect their speed of recovery. According to Haghighi, Shahdadi, Moghadam & Balouchi (2016), nurses can, therefore, utilize scientific methods to reduce both pain and stress in reducing pain in patients who have undergone surgery. Evidence care practice also plays a critical role in determining the type of care to be accorded to the patient depending on the operation procedure they undergo. For instance, colorectal cancer patients experience extreme pain after undergoing an operation procedure. Nursing research can help to reveal the best approach towards bowel preparation and the best combination of post-operative antibiotics and painkillers (Kwaan & Melton, 2012). Another way in which evidence-based care is necessary for nursing with regards to post-operative care is through teaching patients to use their mental status to control the post-operative pain because it would help to reduce the adverse effects of strong painkillers. Such as with electronic emergency alerts on one?s cellphone, people actually have to present warnings like these as a profession. This can be a controversial subject because although it is ideal to adhere to warnings, if a threat never occurs, then disbelief grows along side the warnings. In the case of Critical Infrastructure, most agencies have set procedures in response to the slightest warning of danger. For instance, in the military, one has procedures to follow in the event of a bomb threat warning, active shooter warning, and even a hear-say warning of attempted suicide. Although these are classified as warnings, one can end up losing one?s career if proper response and reporting measures are not taken. I think this is a valid concept because if one ignores warnings, the lament will be greater than the resources utilized to mitigate such warnings.

These kinds of demands become very difficult to governments to cope up with the situations that might get them into trouble with the unethical activities. Therefore, it explains situation that terrorist group performs some kind of unethical situation like kidnapping the people, blackmailing public for their demands from the government. Doing this kind of activities pushes the government into confusion whether to give them what they are asking for. Here the hijackers demand a lot of money or ask to fulfill their demands by some means of exchanges for the lives of hostages. It is very important for any country?s government to know about the hostage crisis and also to know to deal with this kind of terrorist groups on releasing the hostages. The government needs to take necessary actions to cease this kind of hijacking or kidnapping from the terrorist groups and should make some policies on hostage crisis to deal with them.
