Assignment Description:
Write an essay (min 1000 words not counting your Reference List). Your essays should be well-organized. DO NOT DIVIDE THE ESSAY BY SECTIONS, THE ESSAY DISCUSSION SHOULD FLOW BETWEEN PARAGRAPHS.
THIS IS AN ACADEMIC ESSAY NOT AN OPINION PIECE. Support your points with class readings and examples from case studies. Do not simply list everything there is on the readings, explain your reasoning and support it with course readings/slides/lectures.
Use a Minimum 6 sources from class, there is no maximum amount. For your core 6 sources you can only use 1 multimedia source (videos), the remaining 5 must be class provided articles. You can use more multimedia sources and even external articles to supplement (not replace) the core 6 class sources.

Create a doc or docx file. Times New Roman, Font Size 12, SINGLE SPACE. 1 Inch margins.
Identify the Topic you chose to answer, name, date and class in a separate title page. No abstract, index, pictures or graphs allowed. This is an essay it does not have sections. The ideas should flow from paragraph to paragraph.
No lengthy introductions, you can start your essay with a simple statement of about 50 words maximum and then go straight for the answers to the questions. No separate conclusions or closing statements allowed, these tend to be redundant.

In this class we have looked into disaster situations affecting both developed (US, Korea, Japan, your case study?) and developing countries (India, Philippines, Myanmar, Haiti, Nepal, your case study?). Select TWO developed and TWO developing countries from class. (Total of FOUR cases from the semester)

Based on the disasters we studied, what seem to be the differences between developed and developing cases? What are the similarities between the four cases? (700 words minimum)
2.b Is socioeconomic development the biggest challenge for disaster resilient communities? Are developed nations always safe? Identify realistic ways to help developing countries be more resilient? Having more economic resources is an obvious solution but not easy to achieve, think beyond having more money. Provide examples to support your claims. (300 words minimum)
