After reading the two Film Noir texts in this module, and watching Alfred Hitchcock’s Rope (1948) in class on 9/8, watch one of the following on your own:

The assignment is to compare/contrast Rope and the film you watched in terms of whether or not they adhere to the definitions of film noir proposed by the texts. Do the films you watched adhere to, complicate, or challenge the stylistic motifs of Film Noir?

You’ll be graded on whether or not you use the texts for your analysis. You’re encouraged to use the film terms glossary and elements of mise en scène handout as well.

Your work should be 2-3pgs and you must quote both of the film noir texts in your analysis for full credit.
