What have you learnt? How will this impact on your future activity as a practitioner researcher, engaged in continuing development of your own professional practice?
(400-500 words)
In this final section, you simply reflect on what you have learnt as a result of undertaking your Action Research project and state explicitly how this will influence your teaching in future. You must also reflect on how you have developed as a researcher having carried out this project. What have you learnt? How will this impact on your future activity as a practitioner researcher, engaged in continuing development of your own professional practice?
You should also mention whether you have disseminated your research outcomes to your mentor/the school. Explain clearly how your project will impact on your future CPD needs as well as your future classroom practice.
You could consider the strengths and limitations of the inquiry as a whole and what might be done differently in future action research. Ensure that in this section you specifically refer back to your research question and reflect, very succinctly, on what you have found.
References: (not in word count)
If you are in any doubt how to produce a reference list, please refer to the CELT handbook!!!
I hope this helps – please remember to refer back to the lecture notes on blackboard and don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any queries.
Appendices: (not in word count)
You MUST include your Headteacher’s Consent Form, signed by your Headteacher/mentor.
If you have used a questionnaire include a copy of a blank one of these. You might include one or two samples of children’s work if you have collected this as part of your data.
You do not need to include complete transcriptions of any interviews or focus groups discussions, although you can add small sections as appropriate if you have referred to them in the body of your assignment. Do not add things which are irrelevant to your discussion. Remember, apart from checking the ethics form to see you have stuck to your question and methods for which you were given approval, the appendices will only be looked at if you refer directly to them in your writing.
