As you are aware the current economic crisis is impacting on everyone including the children, families and service users we work with at SWEET. Gas and Electric costs have scoured, inflation where the cost of living has risen but wages and benefits have stayed the same. The workers here are struggling to find support for service users/families when they cannot pay their gas or electric or both, are juggling with whether to pay for heating their home or feeding themselves or feeding their children and not themselves. This crisis will get worse. I would like you to research the support that service users and families can access in South Birmingham for support with utility bills, mental health, council tax bills, food parcels (the Trussell Trust will only provide 3 food parcels in six months), social isolation, social exclusion and anything else that you feel they could access. I would like you to create a PowerPoint to present to some of the student here who will give you professional feedback and some will give you feedback from a service users perspective. You need to ensure that the presentation is service user friendly. You will complete this work as a group. I know that Severn Trent has release this morning support for individuals on low incomes. If you could give me a date of when you would like to present this taking into account individuals leaving dates and time to get feedback. If any of your other colleague would like to take part please let me know. This tasks will demonstrate your research skills, knowledge skills, group work skills and presentation skills.
