critically evaluate how the Circular Economy requirements differ from broader ESG frameworks
BRIEF
Background

The COP26 meeting reported on the impact of climate change and the role of businesses in addressing climate concerns. The Circular Economy is one of several important topics for businesses to address.

Recent changes in government legislation have brought a focus to the Circular Economy. Companies are encouraged to reduce the amount of waste they produce through continual reuse of materials. This will reduce the overall need for raw materials and contribute to a sustainable economy.

For example, the GLA issued a consultation paper in September 2021 to foster ideas for a sustainable circular economy. Details of this paper are available at https://www.london.gov.uk/publications/circular-economy-statement-guidance

Small to Medium size businesses play a critical role in the circular economy. Enabling businesses to understand how to develop and implement a suitable framework is that accurately captures and reports their contribution to this activity.

Circular Economy requirements vary according to the sector and size of the business. Recommendations are sought from the student team to identify suitable frameworks for different types of businesses.

This information will provide a benefit to local businesses wanting to participate in the Circular Economy.
