You are a consultant working with an external management consultancy company which has been retained by an attraction (of your choosing). Use tourism company.

The owners of the VA believe there is opportunity to use parts of the attraction in different ways to attract new visitors, by increasing repeat visits, attracting a new type of visitor, or extending the season. This is new business and needs to be in addition to the current visitors and should not detract from the main attraction.

You have been asked to prepare a report that:

  1. Identifies the facilities (buildings, open spaces, features etc) that have the potential to be used for this purpose in innovative and creative ways.
  2. Propose the types of activities or events that these facilities could be repackaged for and describe the market these would be expected to appeal to.
  3. Advise on a pricing strategy for these packages and how they would be communicated to the market you have identified.

The final report will need to include:

  1. A brief outline of the key aspects of the visitor attraction, what the main product is, and the current target market.
  2. The proposals for new activities or events that could further exploit the visitor attractions facilities.

These should include:

– a description of the parts of the attraction that you are proposing be used in a new way and why you think they are currently underutilized

– a description of the type of event and who the target market is.

  1. An overview of who the new visitor is and the reasons why you believe the proposal would appeal them, and how the owners of the attraction would benefit.
  2. Proposals for the promotion (such as type of marketing, means of communication) of the new activities or events to the target market and an explanation of why these are suited to this particular market.
